I've got the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday off. Has to be done, really. Looking forward to seeing that friends list full of people on Halo again.

Ok clue me up - I thought games always came out on Friday or is it a Weds due to worldwide release! I just answered my own question didn't I...

"move along nothing to see here"

So 3days off it is then! Now how do I gt rid of the wife and kids so I can get in 18 hr days at Halo3... hmmmm some plotting needed

Oh, and taking three days off to be sociable and play multiplayer is fine and friendly and cool, whereas anyone taking three days off to play the campaign by themselves is a sad geek.

Lies - as long as you're playing Campaign with 3 mates your in the clear imo :)

Since it's bound to leak I'll be prepared and will have beaten the campaign prior to the proper release, hopefully!

It's a Forerunner structure. It's embedded in this cliff wall and it's a bridge. Imagine the - if you're familiar with Halo 1 - imagine the bridge from Assault on the Control Room, expanded, and made for multiplayer, so it's got multiple levels and each side has kind of a dug in section, and it's mirrored so on one side of each of the bases there's actually a Man Cannon, and if both sides take it at the same time they'll actually meet in mid-air, which is pretty cool.

From the ign bit about the new map.

Nice one, some mid air fighting. I thought they'd do this (hoped!). I just hadn't seen it confirmed

I've got the wednesday thursday and friday off too. Wednesday day is for the campaign, but the night beliongs to multiplayer

I'm really looking forward to the general excitment and atmosphere of those first few multiplayer sessions

Unless shopto deliver it early I'll be queueing at midnight for the first time outside game on oxford street. Anyone else that bad?

EDIT: I asked, that game store didn't know if they actually were opening midnight. that was about a month ago

So looking at the ad in EGM, Master Chief is going to die? I guess it will be a nice way to close the series. Oh yeah spoiler alert, although I'm sure it's been discussed and is pure speculation derived from the text on the page.

What ad?

You could've spoilered it still :P

Halo 3... The game that the world impatiently waits for. The game whose every single detail is soaked up and analyzed by gamers worldwide. Screenshots, trailers, sneak peeks and, without exception, the achievements. However, what if Bungie was toying with the community? What if they did something with Halo 3 that no other Xbox 360 game has done before?

A few months back, we posted what appeared to be the Halo 3 achievements. The list was recently updated to fill in a few gaps, including the missing points.

Krazie has managed to find a second list of achievements for Halo 3. The original link where we got our achievements is located here. But, a second link has emerged with all of the achievements shown as secret.

Original Halo 3 achievements – (Xbox.com link)

Halo 3 secret achievements – (Xbox.com link)

So, what does that mean?

We have four options, from patterns noticed in the past.

1. The second listing of achievements is coincidence, meaning nothing.

2. This set of achievements is for a different version of the game (like Saints Row).

3. The achievements could reflect Halo 3 being released on another system (say, Windows Vista).

4. Bungie published a fake list of achievements, meaning that the true achievements in the game are all secret.

Whatever the case may be, we now have two sets of achievements. Which one do you believe is real? Discuss!

If we're assuming the manual scans are real, i'm disappointed there are no new Covenant species introduced this time, I was looking forward to a couple of new types of enemy. :P

Seven is Bungie's magic number, I suppose. Although I did hope that the Engineers might finally make an appearance. Maybe there'll be some new types of flood enemies, like those juggernauts (or whatever they were called) that were on the Halo 2 disc but the player never got to see. Not by normal means, anyway.

I'm still hopeful the Sharquoi(?) will show up somewhere along the line. If they do, make sure you've got your running shoes on.

Just out of curiosity, how would people be with an ending along the lines of the Chief activating the Halos to stop the Flood? Would you prefer some form of closure, even as bleak as that, over an wooly, more ambiguous finale that leaves things open or do you find the notion of killing off characters unappealing? See also the sorry state of Snake in Guns of the Patriots - given it looks quite likely he'll buy the farm in that, I've heard more than one person say they're already less enthusiastic about the game and may not buy it after all because they hate the thought of Snake getting old and dying.

I would really love a bleak ending. Not too many of those in games, in fact the only ones I've played are Silent Hill 2 and Dead Rising. Hurrah for misery!

I'd like a bleak ending, and it certainly seems to me that death is a very fitting end for a lifelong soldier, whether it's the Chief or Snake. But having read Ghosts of Onyx...

Spoiler alert for Ghosts of Onyx and potentially for Halo 3:

Firing the rings doesn't necessarily mean the end for all sentient life.

Setting that aside, the manual mentions that:

Resistance on earth has been all but crushed, so even if Humanity is ultimately victorious, it'll be a fairly bleak ending due to the catastrophic losses the human race has suffered.

Edit: The latest Bungie weekly update has some intersting snippets about the uploading and sharing of saved films, gametypes, maps etc. plus a real warthog, this time with bonus real marine.
