The second 'Game Disc' isn't a game disc, it's an Xbox executable disc containing bonus features that can't be be played on standard DVD players.

It's an old photo that hasn't been changed, this was something that was raised months ago on NeoGAF, I believe Bungie had to put the rumour to rest in one of their weekly updates.

As I say, it's not much of a loss - the best games on Halo 1/2 were usually 3v3 or 4v4 anyway, 8v8 was horrible most of the time. It would have been nice to have the option for an all out cargange style game once in a while if the lag wasn't too bad in it though.

Aye. More than 16 players in total would make it a different game.

So first play through of the campaign, how are people going to do it? Alone, with 2 player co-op or go full tilt into 4 player? For some reason I'm averse to going through it with 4 for the first time. I think 2p or alone would be just right.

Of course as soon as I've gone through it all I'll be heading for 4p co-op without a doubt.

I'm torn between single player and 2 player. You'll have to come to my new house for link up though!

Some of the best times i had on Halo 2 were 8vs8 without any lag. Sounds like you were all connecting to someone with a crap connection.

Even on a LAN I still prefer 4-6 players on a team, I find it better balanced.

I'd love it if that was the maximum. The problem with allowing more players isn't as simple as saying 'just don't play it if you prefer less'. Halo 2 rooms, for the first year or so, filled up very quickly so you'd have too many players, and it was very awkward to get that number down by kicking people, because the people knew someone and it wasn't fair. So people tended to play the bigger games, even though they were less fun.

The most crucial thing about Halo 3 now for me is whether matchmaking will allow you to enter as any size party and match you against that number of people, with no randoms.

what, like 27 vs 27 or something?

Looks good, looks reeeal good.

If they release any more new info, i may just explode.

It's a Forerunner structure. It's embedded in this cliff wall and it's a bridge. Imagine the - if you're familiar with Halo 1 - imagine the bridge from Assault on the Control Room, expanded, and made for multiplayer, so it's got multiple levels and each side has kind of a dug in section, and it's mirrored so on one side of each of the bases there's actually a Man Cannon, and if both sides take it at the same time they'll actually meet in mid-air, which is pretty cool.

Standard spartan with CQB shoulder plating

Yeah, it has been mentioned in every article that has mentioned the new armour.

Something I seem to have missed is the whole armour thing. Is it purely cosmetic or will the armours change people's stats? I hope it's the former but I fear it's the latter.

Purely cosmetic as far as I know - just reading about the level editing at the mo... OMG basically I'm not going to be playing any other game until well into the new year - Halo3 all the way.

It is exciting, and only 38 days away. 38 days!

Every single feature looks like a great addition to me. Customising the spartans is going to be a right laugh.

This is going to be immense.
