The flamethrower looks gash in action. Why have no games gone the Return to Castle wolfenstein route? Blatantly the best looking flamethrower in any game, ever.

I was just wondering that myself, I'd hoped we had left the 'sputtering, joined clouds' flamethrowers back in the era of Deus Ex.

Achronos from Bungie confirmed that there's no 32-player mode in that very thread. Nice work there, Stu.

Plus!

The original poster of this thread sent me a personal message saying that I was wrong and that he had played Epsilon at a friend's house whose dad was a Msoft employee and the 32 players was in the build!!!! Hahahah what a tool!

Yeah, I posted it before I read the thread, just to give y'all something to chew on. I was sceptical though, hence not putting any effort into my post.

So, back to flamethrowers then!

Thank fuck that's a load of bollocks.

If it works it would have been worth a laugh for a bit, every now and again I went into rumble pit to just go and blast people for a bit rather than having to focus on tactics, it would have been nice to have the option to go and do the same thing in a team environment.

Not much of a 'loss' though, granted.

As I say, it's not much of a loss - the best games on Halo 1/2 were usually 3v3 or 4v4 anyway, 8v8 was horrible most of the time. It would have been nice to have the option for an all out cargange style game once in a while if the lag wasn't too bad in it though.

So first play through of the campaign, how are people going to do it? Alone, with 2 player co-op or go full tilt into 4 player? For some reason I'm averse to going through it with 4 for the first time. I think 2p or alone would be just right.

Of course as soon as I've gone through it all I'll be heading for 4p co-op without a doubt.

edit: forgive me if this has been covered but I've just spoke to some game shop bod and he reckoned that the halo3 branded 360 will not ship here with the hdmi port. Is that right?

I've been looking forward to playing a Halo campaign in co-op with a screen to myself ever since I first played Halo CE, so my first play through of Halo 3 will most definately be in co-op, probably with two other friends.

I can't quite work out whether you're just asking about the HDMI port or whether the 360 will make it to europe at all. There hasn't been any confirmation that we'll get the Halo 3 360, but neither have there been any comments or press releases to indicate that it's US only. As for HDMI, isn't it being added to every 360 across the board?

Some of the best times i had on Halo 2 were 8vs8 without any lag. Sounds like you were all connecting to someone with a crap connection.

Microsoft are expecting this to break the $151 million 1st day record taken by Spider-Man 3:

I wonder if this means we'll see supermarkets price-cutting in an attempt to get people in - like they did with the £7 Casino Royale DVD's and £5 Harry Potter books...

Be nice to stroll into Asda on launch day and be able to pick it up for maybe £20

I`ve had a quick look and can`t find a definitive answer - Is the helmet only difference between the Collector`s edition and the Legendary edition?

No. The CE comes with a hard copy Bestiarum, and the Legendary one has an expanded electronic version as part of the second disc. The other stuff on that disc is re-rendered cut scenes from Halo and Halo 2 with commentary, a Bungie documentary, some machinima stuff from RvB, and storyboard art.

He reckoned that the branded system would be released here but minus hdmi out (his reasoning was that MS want to shift more Elites and having the cheaper hdmi capable h3 ltd edition would harm this). He's probs just regurgitating something he read of the web though its interesting to hear the system hasn't officially been announced for here.

It's the only way to play Coag.

Word.

A lot of people here seemed to prefer the 6v6 playlist. Frankly, the most epic games I ever had were 8v8 flag games on Coag and Headlong. Hell, I even enjoyed the frenzies that were 1Flags on Zanizbar.

This morning I put the release date on my calendar at work. :(

6v6 was the sweet spot for number of players/teamwork/lag.

o/\o

I'd love it if that was the maximum. The problem with allowing more players isn't as simple as saying 'just don't play it if you prefer less'. Halo 2 rooms, for the first year or so, filled up very quickly so you'd have too many players, and it was very awkward to get that number down by kicking people, because the people knew someone and it wasn't fair. So people tended to play the bigger games, even though they were less fun.

The most crucial thing about Halo 3 now for me is whether matchmaking will allow you to enter as any size party and match you against that number of people, with no randoms.

I never realised or even imagined that this would be a 2 disc game...

I bet it won't. That picture could have been mocked up by anyone, and MS aren't going to give a stick to Sony to beat them with by having their flagship title not fit on a single DVD. They'll do whatever it takes to make it fit.

Maybe...
