I'm not sure what you mean there. By you saying that there are 'top snipers' indicates there is a skill involved doesn't it?

And it's hardly a case of just moving the sight around the landscape until it gets snagged. That's a ridiculous exaggeration.

By top snipers i mean the type that hog the sniper and get 30 kills a round with it, compared to someone like me whos better at the close range combat but not so good with the sniper (mainly due to the high sensitivity i use). It's not really much of an exageration when people in this thread and others mention its the best way to get an instant headshot with the sniper.

I don't know whether to LOL or cry, but at least the fact that stroker agrees with you proves he's full of wrongness by association so I don't need to argue with him. :)

For me it seems to be much more accurate now, no more 'sweep' sniping. And as for visual feedback, they tend to fall over.

Even though tyler mentions the use of sweep sniping in halo 2? It's the same as someone on ascension jumping into a banshee and shooting at you from a far away distance. There is very little skill involved and it's very hard to kill that person.

I wasn't refering to your (correct) assertion that sweep sniping does in fact exist, I was merely loling at the fact that it seemed you were suggesting that essentially everyone is equal at sniping and some people such as yourself choose to be bad at sniping by putting their sensitivity up. Which is of course wrong in so many ways that it defies all measurement of wrongness.

Oh i wouldn't say im bad, it's certainly not my weapon of choice though. Its more the people called XxSephrophSniper127xX who stand at the back of the map and snipe down to the other end and then at the end proceed to tell everyone that they owned them. I personally think that the sniper is one of the easier weapons to master. To be of any use with it though, you have to either have a good team or know how to get to good spots on the map that make for great visability and a lack of access to attack you, and thats not a skill related to the actual weapon itself.

Pimps At Sea

Hay Loe Three

but bungie have been using pimps at sea since years before halo 3 was even in thought about. unless you're telling me they knew they were going to launch a game called halo 3 as far back as 2001?

Shit, I thought this was the Halo 3 thread and we were talking about the Sniper Rifle in that game.

Yeah, damn those pricks using teamwork and finding spots on the map with good lines of sight. I don't know how they dare :)

Depends, there were many points on a lot of the maps you could glitch your way to, and that's generally where the snipers hid.

It's the codename for this game is all I know.

"Bungie has since confirmed in their weekly update on December 1 that Pimps at Sea is the codename for the Halo 3 alpha, which was undergoing testing by select Microsoft employees on Xbox Live. [1]. The name for the Halo 3 Beta, however was just "Halo 3 Beta" when seen online."

That's some imagination you've got there.

Well, it's a correct one.

So this evening I decide to play throug Halo 2 on legendary regardless of all the comments I have read about it being plagued by AI snipers. Evey one of them was true! Its just silly, both cruel and unfair. Its invoked a rage in me I have not seen for a long while. I put it on to get all excited about 3, now I'm worried! What if Halo3 legendary isn't awesome like Halo1, its cheap like Halo2. I didn't expect it to be this bad. I loved Halo legendary.

They are cunts! That's a fact. But what if Halo 3 legendary is shit because of it! How shut would that be?

And I believe Jackal snipers in the context of Halo 3 are mentioned in the latest Bungie podcast...

Then there's the introduction of the equipment - who knows how that will play out on Legendary.

They also warn that in order to really enjoy 4 player co-op, you'll need to get the level up to Legendary and use some "modifiers" which they have yet to reveal. Yet...

In an earlier podcast, or perhaps in one of the recent magazine articles, skulls, such as the ones found in Halo 2, were mentioned in a similar context. So I'm assuming you'll be able to turn skulls and their respective modifiers on and off from a menu, much like the cheats menu in Goldeneye.

And I believe Jackal snipers in the context of Halo 3 are mentioned in the latest Bungie podcast...

Frankie would only go so far as to say that they're somehow more fair than they were in Halo 2.

Read the Wiki and my quote.

They used it to cover the alpha stage, it also rhymes.

Yes, but that's not WHY Bungie used it. They used it because 'Pimps at Sea' is a long-running Bungie joke, and because people would recognise it and work it out. That closed beta was part of the hype, too.

It has nothing to do with it (very tenuously) rhyming with Halo 3. That's just a coincidence.

You honestly think they were sitting around thinking "hey, what shall we call our Halo 3 beta? What rhymes with Halo 3? Hay. . . Lo. . . Three? Pimps. . . At. . . Sea? YES!"
