Bad way. I remember reading the Bungie forums not long after Halo 2 came out and there were loads of BUNGEY YOU SHULD PUT FLAMTHROWWS IN IT WOUD BE SO KWL.

I didn't think they ever would. Stinks of gimmick to me.

But saying that, I wasn't keen on the deployables but they just worked. So hey-ho!

I think they were in the PC/Mac version. Remember using them online. Was good fun.

EDIT Oops sorry, read the rest of the thread. Well, I enjoyed them, at least...

I know that. My question is, how the fuck did they get to play it? Friends of Bungie or something? Cause I saw Hey Ernie playing it and I didn't think he was part of any of that.

i've seen him playing pimps at sea in the past as well. isn't that some bungie thing? does he have connections with them then?

i've also just had a look at the achievement list and i noticed they're bringing back the terminals from marathon. should be a nice touch, i always liked them, especially the alien controlled ones.

The Spartan Laser is definitely too bloody powerful. I could easily five shot/five kill (five shot/six kill if you're Krypt) with that gun, and I'm shithouse.

I see that being toned down in the final. Totally fucking nerfed would be nice.

I don't see the issue, it's a power-weapon primarily for taking out vehicles. If you're just taking people out in the open you're wasting its ammo anyway.

Aye but in the likes of multiplayer its not going to be used for that is it? Too bloody powerful for its own good and needs toning down a bit.

I don't see any problem with the Spartan laser, personally.

It's a one hit kill, has an awesome zoom, and is almost impossible to miss with.

Oops, I just described the stupidly overpowered sniper rifles, too.

The difference is, Bungie don't have the bottle to rebalance the snipers because the set-inm-their-ways sniper whores would riot. The Spartan Laser whores haven't had time to grow so attached to their deathray yet.

Basically, the last thing Halo needs is another superweapon to compliment the missile launcher, sniper rifles and Plasma Pistol. Good on Bungie - they've de-powered the rockets and PP, but the snipers are still arserape and so is the Spartan Laser.

It leaves a big red trail which is quite visible.

They did and the sniper whores kicked off all over the Bungie forums during the Beta. It was fun to watch :)

The only game I've ever seen get sniper rifles right is Battlefield 2 - it's hard as fuck to get a headshot in that game, and you need a bunch of body shots to kill anyone.

Developers: here's how you test if your sniper rifle is too powerful: - if it's as effective from six feet away as it is from the other side of the map, IT'S TOO POWERFUL.

You could balance Halo's snipers with two little words: Bolt Action. Having a semi-automatic four-shot sniper always seemed crazy to me.

It leaves a big red trail which is quite visible.

They did and the sniper whores kicked off all over the Bungie forums during the Beta. It was fun to watch :)

I thought that the weakening was almost entirely down to the reduced hitboxes? Tell me more.

Did you know that they originally had loads of recoil on the Halo 2 sniper? I don't know why they removed it, but it looked like an improvement to be fair - you had to get your first shot perfect, you didn't have 3 backup shots.

The snipers are really crap though for a number of reason. 1. Auto aim? Well that makes sniping as a skill totally pointless. The top snipers don't even aim, they move their sight around the landscape until it gets snagged on an enemy and just pull the trigger. 2.No sway? Even goldeneye had this and its what made using the zoom in weapons that much more difficult but welcome. Hell even Perfect Dark made you lie down on the floor to reduce the sway, at the expense of being able to run away quickly. 3. No reload times (ignoring the clip itself of course), if you had to reload after every bullet or there was a pause of some kind it would help balance it out.

The laser i don't think is too bad, you can jump out of the way of its shots either because you have a good few seconds warning its being aimed at you, or if you are quick to run behind cover or even jump. You certainly can't find a nice ledge out of the way and constantly kill with it either because it's no where near as accurate as the sniper.

Please Bungie, just add sway to the sniper rifle, im fed up of playing games where one guy on the team got 30 kills and zero deaths because he found a little hiding hole at one end of the map and snipped to the other. They have improved the killing of the vehicals with the laser and PP which is wonderful.

It needs that, too.

You add those four things, and suddenly anyone who can use a sniper well DESERVES their kills.

The gap between firing shots is slightly longer and you can't swipe snipe in Halo 3. They could have nerfed it more but it's a help.

I'm not sure what you mean there. By you saying that there are 'top snipers' indicates there is a skill involved doesn't it?

And it's hardly a case of just moving the sight around the landscape until it gets snagged. That's a ridiculous exaggeration.

For me, the problem with the spartan laser is that people got really good with it in the space 3 weeks on the beta, I reckon it will be totally overpowered once people get some real time to perfect the timing with it.

I agree with that. It could do with another drawback.

I agree with Sack on one point, and that's they should lower the clip size to one, possibly two. If you need more than two shots per kill you shouldn't be picking it up, frankly.

In any case, I'm struggling to keep my excitement in check about this game.
