Spoiler:

No matter how good this game is, it's never going to live up to expectations, and it's pretty much guaranteed to be a bit of a disappointment.

Nobody's sure of how much of a disappointment it is yet though.

Bigger Spoiler:

UT3 is going to be more fun online.

Really?

Do tell us more since you can obviously see into the future :(

That was a classic moment, of course, but it just struck me that the Marines landed on the only beach on the entire island with Covenant positions. It seems like they deliberately picked the most deadly place to land just for a crazy laugh.

I always thought the dropship pilots were being a bit inconsiderate in landing their pelicans so that the marines were immediately exposed to all that incoming fire :(

Poor marines :)

Eurogamer have just chopped the 'radargate' paragraph out.

People make mistakes - its fair enough, but the preview makes references to how it compares to the previous games to inform the reader of what to expect - yet clearly the journalist isn't really that qualified to do this (given that he didn't even realise this 'new feature' had always been a fairly integral part of the series).

To be fair, I've played through Halo CE twice and Halo 2 once, and I've never used the radar.

If someone were to ask me a week ago if there was a radar in Halo, I'd probably say "no".

Where they not dropped of at that LZ because it was the last known location of the map? Due to the fact that the beach is laid out with covenant communication devices I would I thought they where dropped there to make sure the enemy could not upload any details of the ring world pre empting that they had found something.

Could be wrong though.

I was very, very meh about the whole thing until I read the Edge article. The singleplayer still doesn't particularly entice me (apart from the Skulls, but if I'm not fussed by the singleplayer I'm not sure I'll get that far) but Forge sounds absolutely fantastic.

In Virgin today it didn't have Halo on the cover and was dated 'August' so I'm still none the wiser.

That's the old issue. Magazines always use the date that they go off sale on the cover, hence this month's issue is September. You won't miss it when you see it.

LOL

Something else I thought Halo CE did better than Halo 2 was the feeling of being in the middle of a battle and SORTING IT OUT.

In Halo 2, with these 3 way battles going on - I just felt confused and rushed to each exit as quickly as I could.

In Halo when dropped into the midst of a battle (Silent Cartographer) - I felt like I was the one who turned the tide with my big green boots.

You spout an incredible amount of fanboy nonsense most of the time (most of it tongue in cheek admittedly ;)) but right there, you've totally nailed what the crucial difference was between Halo and Halo 2 singleplayer campaigns.

I think online co-op sounds like a great mode, it's proven in RBS: Vegas that it's definitely fun to play but to me Halo is fun in co-op only when you play for long periods of time and actually progress in the single-player aspect of the game.

The previous games have always been reasonably long and fun to play through with a friend, but what happens when you're quite far in the game and the other user quits?

Regarding previous Halo games, Halo 1 definitely had the better single player but Halo 2 definitely had a better multiplayer. - All those memories of the laughs me and my room mate had with the sword clan matches.
