I'm not saying there were disgusting. I'm saying that the video was sold as representing how the game would look real-time, in game. The fact that a cutscene used elements of it is nice, but not actually what was promised. It far surpassed the in-game action. It did it did it did. And so did that outrageous E3 "playthrough" that looked about half a generation better than anything Bugie farted out a year later.

The thing is, that demo and the Halo 2 teaser trailer you mention were released way before the game shipped. Halo 3 is being released in less than three months time, and having played the beta, I'm quite prepared to believe that Halo 3 will look exactly like that screenshot.

The first video of Halo 2 was a supposed real-time in-game run by what would be the single player engine. It was the one where doors open and then masterchief dives toward earth from space. It turned out to be a giant lie.

It wasn't a giant lie, the Killzone2 video was a giant lie. The halo2 cutscenes were made using the ingame engine, but there was no way the actual game could run at that level at any kind of a playable framerate so the rest of it wasn't up to scratch.

That campaign shot is hardly unbelievable, you can see the polys in the mountains in the background, the gun smoke looks weak, the normal effectds on the 'chief are as seen in the beta, all that's fancy is a painted background and snazzy explosion reflection in his visor.

There are eight new screenshots from campaign, as well as the new trailers which can be found here. I thought the in-game trailer was pretty underwhelming in that it lacked the usual epic feel of previous Halo efforts, which I guess was down to all the random shots thrown together with a rather poor version of the theme playing over the top. Still, there was a lot of nice footage mixed in there, especially the covenant capital ships glassing the planet and the unsc ships opening fire <_<

There wasn't much love for the Neill Blomkamp trailer in the MS conference thread, but I personally loved it, simply because it showed how awesome the various pieces of Halo hardware look in the flesh. WETA have certainly done a fantastic job of bringing it all to life. I just hope this eventually leads to a film release.

Peter Moore's unveiling of the Halo 360 was met with stony silence, but I'll definately pick one up if they're released over here.

The new E3 trailer is available now, showing some gameplay footage.

AND IT LOOKS BRILLIANT!

However, the most interesting thing I note is that the Arbiter from Halo 2 is seen tagging along with the chief in some of them. Could this mean you have a permenant ally...and he will be the other playable character for the hopefully included online co-op mode? Though that's just me speculating randomly, as there's one scene that makes that seem a little unlikely (Chief and Arby havign an arguement).

There appears to be a four-seater, no turret warthog in that trailer. That'll be awesome on Valhalla.

Me too! I will pick it up, laugh at it and then put it down.

Surely, surely they could have managed something less ugly. Looks like a 360 designed for a child's bedroom to match his camouflage TV from Woolworths!

Aye, I really liked it (available to download from the marketplace now), it has a bit of an Aliens feel to it (strange that) which is mint.

I'm the only one that likes that 360 then. Strange.

I quite like it after having a proper look at it. If it had the new bits in it and I knew it was more reliable than a standard one, I'd probably get it, unless its got a stupid premium price. Did they say if it was based on the Premium or Elite at all? If it had HDMI and the larger HDD I'd definitely go for it.

From bungie.net:

Chances are you saw the Halo 3-themed Xbox 360 be announced (we'll have much more on that tomorrow), and here's the HDMI-equipped Xbox below.

Shame it isn't a fully fledged Elite, just the HDMI added.

(”Chris Kohler on the Halo 360″)

Just got back from a demo of Halo 3 held at the Microsoft hotel — did you know that Microsoft bought out the entire Viceroy Hotel for this weekend? — and was mighty impressed. But the big news is that they had one of the Halo edition Xbox consoles, which they passed around for our enjoyment.

As it turns out, the console will combine aspects of the Elite and Premium systems. It’ll have a 20 GB hard drive, but feature HDMI out. A wireless headset communicator will be packed in. It will also include a Play and Charge Kit, meaning you’ll have a battery pack and recharge cable out of the box.

What it won’t include is Halo 3 — Bungie’s Frank O’Connor says that’s because they know players will want to choose one of the three different versions of the game on their own.

O’Connor says that even Bungie doesn’t know how much the console will cost, but says it’ll be a “good value” for the price. Considering that it’s about on the level, features-wise, as a Premium 360, it should be less than that model’s $400 sticker price.

'spose it'd still be ok for Video Marketplace content. Just delete stuff when its been watched...

it was always kind of odd that there were two Master Chiefs when you played co-op considering he was supposed to be "the last of his kind",

and that one of you would disappear when a cutscene started, so it makes sense to have one of you play as the Arbiter.

And, hell, it could look like Halo 1 for all I care, as long as the gameplay is there.

Not my kind of game but it does look good. Nice to see games with colour in them. Half of these type of games are pretty much monochrome.

.::: Though I must admit, at one point the Covenant were sooo colourful that it might have been cartoon-levels. I like a bit of colour in a game, but this was almost over the top. I liked the 'highlighting' colours of the first a bit better in that respect.
