Hopefully that's just an oversight. There is absolutely no excuse for lack of online co-op in games this generation. The arguments only JUST held weight with Halo 2. Their exclusion in Halo 3 would be unacceptable.

Meta is blatantly co-op though, theres the same number of meta levels as campaign. Or maybe its slightly altered versions of the campaign levels that can be played in co-op with a score system based on stuff like number of kills and headshots, hence it saying score X points on mission Y.

Let's hope so. That'd be sweet. Ideally it'll be 4 player coop with either more or harder enemies to fight than in the single player.

And I agree with Ben about the ranked match achievements: nice that they're there, but they could have been more imaginative.

The thing that (slightly) worries me may be the lack of Cortana. The headset chatter she doled out was a significant part of Halos atmosphere for me.

don't worry, i really doubt there'll be a lack of cortana in this one.

Yeah, even something like Gears, such as 'win 10 ranked matches on each map' or for key gametypes or whatever. Can't say I particularly like FFA either, would be nice if they spread them out over the other playlists more too.

This is a good thing imho. It's better to be able to get all the achievements in both single player and co-op. Let everyone play it the way they want to.

Well I meant because it still kept the possibility that there isn't going to be co-op in the game, hopefully the meta achievements are to do with co-op as people seem to be assuming. Most games that have online co-op also have achievements for it.

Naaah, I can understand you're worried because nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and you're really looking forward to the game hoping that they won't mess it up, but even Bungie understands that co-op is an essential part of Halo. Trust me, there's a bigger chance of Shenmue 3 appearing this summer on all the next-gen consoles, including the Wii, than the next Halo not having any co-op. Don't worry.

Quite happy with that list of achievements :( I think the points could be spread a bit more from completing the missions to some of the harder multiplayer ones, but other than that the spread is great. I'll look forward to getting the full 100 here.

Wonder what new achievements future DLC may bring though? (I know thats thinking way too far ahead, but its going to happen).

Halo only had 10. Halo 2 had 15, but they were shorter.

Some people reckon it's some form of speedrun or score attack mode, in a recent update Luke talked about some additions which should add some replayability to Campaign.

Achievements are truly a godsend to gaming; previously, I would have been willing to bet that loads of people would buy Halo for the multiplayer alone, but hopefully the offer of extra gamerpoints will be enough to tempt them into trying the campaign as well.

What does it do though?

When that spinny thing pops up you can click it to freeze it and drag it around. Moving the cursor over certain symbols on it makes them light up, and clicking them yields various things, be it text file about Halo firing or a little flash video.

Very cool stuff if you've been following it.
