The shotgun was the most lethal weapon in Snowbound...

They should take it our - he who controlled the shotgun, controlled the game.

Run backwards away from them then? The shotgun is not powerful at all unless you are face to face with them. And even then you could escape when being shot by it.

Snowbound was a shit map - I just hated it. If a team got the laser and sniper, it's all over.

I have to echo Kryptonian's sentiments. Just go inside, hardly rocket science.

Regarding the Mongoose again, mine and Krypt's tactic with it for VIP on Valhalla wins the game virtually every time... unless their VIP hid up on the rocks to the left of the beach base, which happened a couple of times and is quite annoying.

We always stayed inside.

We always won.

That's the point I was making. There was absolutely no point in going outside once you had the shotgun. If you got off to a bad start, making a come back was almost impossible unless the other team were crap and didn't know how to camp properly.

Did you play Snowbound?

Twisty 90 degree turns.

You would creep round a corner and BLAM. Shotgun to the head.

Running a way would land you on top of their grenade they lobbed...tricky situation on snowbound.

Most people dont crouch when they have the shot gun, especially inside. They like to make themselves as visable as possible by moving and then playing loud music down the mic. If you're above ground, the shotty is useless. If you are underground its very easy to notice them and take them out. It's not an over powered weapon at all.

If you were saying sensible things, then your opinion would have probably been noted and then ignored. When you start saying stuff like it\'s easier to dodge a sniper on foot than in a vehicle, well that\'s just crazy talk.

Ive made posts based on my experience of the Beta and to a certain extent Halo 2. How is that crazy talk?

I will happily concede, however, that I was wrong to assume it was commonly accepted that someone strafing and BRing would be harder to snipe than someone on a Mongoose (I genuinely, hand-on-heart did think that), which was arrogant, I admit that.

So yeah, Straps is right in that it usually is a death trap and is often just used by idiots, but in the hands of a competent player it can be pretty effective, result altering even.

So we're back to the original theory that Straps hasn't seen anyone competent use a Mongoose? Glad we've cleared that one up.

Having the weapons respawn is a top idea.

Not really an idea though is it? More of a return to normality after the annoying idea of only letting weapons respawn when they're dropped, I never got on with that in Halo 2. Halo 3 is a lot better balanced for it, that's for sure.

Snowbound is so tightly spaced indoors with thin corridors and enclosed spaces that a wellplaced grenade or two usually led to a sticky or the shotgunner's death. Dual spikers/spiker-plasma rifle seemed to work really well too underground if the shotgun wasn't available.

Yeah, top inclusion. A relief to see it back. The Halo 2 stalemate scenario became pretty tiresome.

Dual-Plasma Rifles is also one of the best tactics indoors (I found), they can take your shield down almost as quickly as a shotgun blast and with a quick beatdown after a few shots they can be just as effective.

I don't think that's strictly true.

Obviously every game is different but I've never been in a game where it was 'over' cos the other team were outside with the Sniper or the Laser (a 5 shot weapon) or inside with the shotgun. The abundance of Carbines outside made it worthwhile going out to grab one too.

Even one Plasma Rifle and a punch to the face was pretty effective.
