Just played my first Shotty Snipers game... dunno why you all hate it, it was ace for me.

Camping halfway up the wall on Valhalla and winning the match might have had something to do with it mind 8)

Why thankyou. I can't believe how it all came together with that gametype, with us all set to play Noshi krypt mentioned the sticky bonus (and subsequently I saw all the other bonus's) and I went to work. Then a few tweaks here and there as it evolved, I suggested the Spartan Laser as a joke and YaWdiB seemed to think it was a good idea, genius. We played one game-type for 5 hours in the end with the odd game of Mad Dash thrown in.

Rules:

No Shields

No Radar

No weapons on map

Magnum starting weapon

First to 75

+10 for a Sticky

+10 for a Killing Spree

+3 for killing the leader

+1 for a Kill

+1 for a Headshot

-2 for a Death

-3 for a Beatdown (if you beat someone down, not if you get beatdown)

-3 for an Assassination (if you assassinate someone, not if you get assassinated)

-5 for a Suicide

-10 for a Splatter

Leader has Spartan Laser

Leader has Infinite Ammo

Leader cannot pick up weapons (including grenades)

Leader just having the SL and being unable to pick up anything keeps the game closer as it's tough to keep scoring once you're the leader (except for sprees). Mainly works on Snowbound but we tried it on High Ground and whilst it becomes more like original Noshi it still works.

That's made me want to play Halo again more than anything else in the thread!

Am I missing something here? Why do most of the custom variants proposed seem to penalise the melee attack? It's one of the greatest things about Halo.

Its variable either way I think.

You can give beatdowns negative or positive points under scoring. I put them negative in Sticktacular as it should be about headshots and stickies. Also, it's hilarious because it's so instinctive to beatdown in close quarters. Many an anguished cry can be heard.

I understood that they could be positive or negative, I was just wondering why it seemed to be always negative in the examples posted. By all account it seems you're a halo god and particularly sniping, is it possible your game variants favour you further, just a thought.

I have to say I'm ok at Halo but sniping is probably my worst point but if anything I'd try to improve this and not look to score others down for it. It is fairly annoying when you're running aroung minding your own business/killing the nearby enemies though.

That's my only game variant though (and the only one posted I think). I don't have a problem with beatdowns (except on shonky hosts). Melee and then BR / Carbine is very much part of most players game.

edit: I was just joking when I replied to krypts gametype by the way.

Up to rank 3 now in rumble pit, and it's much more difficult to win games than at 1, as you'd expect. Can you go down in ranks? I think you should be able to, it'll make the rankings more accurate.

You go down in ranks by coming last/quitting out regularly, just as you go up by winning. The difference between Level 1 and Level 3 should be pretty negligible though, unless it's started to pull in players from much higher ranks that it didn't before.

I've found it easier to advance through the levels personally on the Beta in Rumble Pit - I'm a higher level already than I ever was on Halo 2.

Thx to Yawdib and Kryptonian for the invite and the games last night, great fun.

After we all finished i ended up in my own custom lobby, and had a good look at the settings etc, i've got a good idea for a gametype, but couldn't seem to save it or rename it 8) - Kryptonian how do you save all the settings you alter, obviously you managed to do it because you renamed your custom games - was it because i was in the lobby on my own?

Anyway will be on tonight - hopefully see some of you around 8)
