If anyone can be bothered to look back through 100 pages there was a discussion about something related to this when Bungie put something in one of their weekly updates about this special algorithm that no other games use to calculate the colour of the sky relevant to the angle with the Sun and the amount of particles in the sky that the light has to travel through or something. That would explain why it gets darker the higher you go.

Burn01: Is double team going to be on the beta?

A: Wait, I’m not sure what you’re saying. You’re trying to claim that Double Team might go into the Beta next week? Wow. That would be awesome.

Every Halo fan must check check out this video, just imagine what the campain mode will be like, space battles for the win !!

In this one, he breaks through the clouds and ends up in space.

Crazily, watch as the chap falls - you can see a spaceship out in the distance.

A bit inconsequential isn't it? Other than being able to shoot each other really high up, as oppose to just above the ground. I guess if they sort out the view, it could be pretty lovely up there.

It'd be nice if after bailing you remained with the 3rd person perspective, and the chief adopted a free-fall position. It seems odd that he maintains the standing position all the way down, and freefalling back into your falling banshee could be a neat trick.

Nae bother Uzion, good to finally get a game with you and all the others.

Nice to play with a bunch of Brits rather than those annoying Americans...and thankfully I was on Tyler's team everytime so my kill ratio didn't drop by 3000.

They've taken out fall damage, then.

They took out fall damage in Halo 2...

Although, they seem to have made a conscious effort to make several other areas closer to how they were in Halo 1 so I'm surprised they haven't added fall damage back in really.

After seeing this tech with the sky/space environments, as well as the lack of fall damage and the new man-cannons/jump pads, I'm really hoping that they're going to have some space-based maps in the style of q3ctf4 from Quake III: Arena.

I know the vast majority of die-hard Halo fans would hate to see that, but for me, it would literally be the best thing ever™.

I can see the review headlines already:

"Halo goes Mario Galaxies"

...

Damn hangovers.

They had to take it out because of the Sword apparently. So if the Sword is back in, fall damage is still out I reckon.
