As typical as it sounds, it's the fucking americans* that ruin this game for me. We had to take on 2 randoms t'other night, and as soon as we started team CTF I picked up the rocket launcher and one siad "If you fuck up I'm going to rip your (something, I couldn't tell what the fuck he said, the mumbling cunt) off" I instantly went looking for the banhammer button (or kick function) but couldn't find it for love nor money. Anyroad, he quit out, leaving us with his stoned-sounding mate. We finished the game and he started with the "Wow, you suck" talk, upon which Talvalin, bless him, screamed "FUCK OFF YOU AMERICAN CUNT!" Much talk of faggotry was abound and we quit back to lobby.

* Standard Disclaimer - There are some nice americans. They just don't seem to play with us.

See, at that point, if he said that to me, i would have trained said rocket launcher on his back and sent him to kingdom come.

At which point he would have said that that i had done it wrong in an inpolite way only to reassure that i had done it completely correctly, i.e. by shooting the irritating prick in the back.

Maybe thats just me though.

Whats funny is that as soon as I mentioned "thats it people like you that give Halo multiplayer a bad name" they went ballistic :( oh and they mentioned that "fucking Brits always bring down game connection speeds".

Yes, I do have some top blokes from the States on my friends list so its not all of em.

Safety in numbers I say. So if the words start flying..

Yeah, Tal is loud and annoying.

It ticks me off a bit that Bungie refuse to implement a scheme where if you quit you can't join another game till the last one finishes. Fair enough people have a right to quit games they don't enjoy but to they have also made a commitment to the other people who are playing. GRRR

The American guy on our team in that match was fine. He even laughed when I accidentally stuck myself with a Brute grenade and blew us both up.

But yeah, nice guys are less common than dickheads.

I was thinking. A system like the one in WoW where if you ditch it during a Battlegorund lumps you with a 15 minute penalty where you can't join another game during that time. If they could determine if a person leaves due to lag or actively quits then it'd be a bit more feasable. Still, the idea has holes all over the place but I quite like it.

EDIT: I dint read that bit properly. Still a set time limit may be good. I dunno.

Bit of a double edged sword though. There's been times when I've been caught up in an unbelievably laggy game populated by screaming team-killing infants. The only way you could make that a more unpleasant experience is by punishing me for quiting out. Particularly as some games can go on for 10-15 minutes. You'd just stop playing altogether.

Don't you get a points penalty this time though?

I've always thought that if someone quits then as a matter of course they should drop down a rank. This would mean persistent quitters would never get out of double figures and so would play with each other whilst serious players who don't quit will be able to play with other people who don't quit once they are a few ranks up.

Of course I've always felt that 50 ranks is a bit pointless, surely 1-10 is enough to be able to play against people of similar standards and you would not fluctuate rank as much....

I think it's an absolutely suberb game.

my stats are a bit crap:

Total Kills: 270

Total Deaths: 382

Kill/Death Ratio: 0.7068

Total Assists: 154

I'm loving snowbound too. And yeah audio is excellent....

Can't wait for the full game.

What were the rules of this gametype?

It's been so long since I've played it that I can't remember the complete rules, but essentially it was exactly how it sounds. Waypoints are set around whatever map you're playing on, to be hit in a certain order, like a track. Bloodgulch was best for this, as it was an oval course around both bases. It usually turned into a scramble for the vehicles (or the rocket launcher  ), but quickly became extremely chaotic. It was great.

LOL! I had my first Halo3 mouthmash last night too  Upon taking the sniper at the start 2 guys started on me with their 'polite' American trash and did the usual.. shooting me in the back, melee'ing me and general "Oh thats explains it.. he's British. What a *%&!!". I know I shouldn't of but I threw a spike grenade at the mongoose they had both got on and it killed em both. Then it was a battle with not the other team but them and their mates. I should of seen his name on the sniper to begin with ;) Fun fun fun. I finished to find they all gave me bad feedback.

Good times! :(

:( I can never shrug this kind of experience off and just laugh at the ridiculousness of some American 360 gamers.

It always really spoils the experience for me and it was this that stopped me playing Halo 2.

Thank God for 4 player co-op.

Which would be just great for those of us who can never get out of double figures because we just plain suck.

As a plus using my idea if you started quitting in a load of games you'd at long last be able to get out of double figures... ;-)

Is the net code a little bit wobbly or is standbying already workable? I kind of suspect the former, but we had a CTF game and were feet away from scoring when we black-screened. We eventually got booted after a minute or two, but looking at the game stats their whole team left.

I have had a game where at one point I was the only mobile player, everyone else was alive but I could just kill them all. Is it the code?

Random matchup with Tyler and his merry bunch of thugs FOR THE LOSE   you bastards.

If I'm in a random team and Tyler etc appear as the opposition I'm finding a corner in the game to hide or simply switching the Xbox off and locking myself in the bathroom ... just in case.

Oh and one grenade in king of the hill and my first aba8900e-f857-4579-8c37-ff998d89b8d6.gif

That was my plan when we saw who we were playing...."let's just hide". Unfortunately it didn't work.

Highlight of my night though was getting a triple kill with the oddball.

Man, I'm gonna be gutted as hell when the beta ends. Gotten really addicted to this, and Halo 2 ain't gonna cut it 'til September. Kinda genius, the whole thing really.

Had some iffy voice comm problems tonight though - half my party kept cutting out when in games, but came through crystal clear when in the between-game lobbies. Anyone else?

It's actually the first game we've met up with any forum members. It didn't happen that often on Halo 2 either (once that I can remember when we played Meerman) What are the chances?

It happened to me and a bunch of other n00bs, we ended up playing some of EVT I think? We won too.*

I won't be - it's really good, but it is very limited. Roll on the full release, with more maps & gametypes, customs, single player and hopefully some of feeble, currently non-360 owning nube / pizzown brethren. But especially customs. I've never really been a big fan of matchmaking.

Beta Maintenance: Important!

Frankie writes:

Tomorrow, May 23rd, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. PST, we are flipping a switch (temporarily) that probably won’t affect you one iota. But if it does, this is what will happen:

Should your game encounter a rare crash, your Xbox 360 will give you an alert screen, explaining that it’s uploading data to Bungie servers. We actually need this data, and we need your cooperation too. Although you probably won’t see that screen, if you do, let it finish uploading the data. It may take some time – upwards of 10-20 seconds and perhaps longer. So we beg your patience. When the process has completed correctly this is the message you'll see, "File upload complete. Visit http://www.bungie.net/forums/halo3beta for more information (safe to reboot)."

After 1 p.m., we’ll flip it back to normal, and if you do crash after that time, the data upload process will be much shorter. Helping us collect valuable crash data like this is one of the ways you can help us make Halo 3 a better game. And of course, we’re only collecting data on “natural” crashes, so please don’t try to make your 360 crash.

Haha yeah, and I was completely stunned/chuffed/surprised/ADHD (delete as appropriate) when I discovered it was you guys. You raped us that time as well.

Good games on Halo 3 last night, guys! You know who you are.

I haven't been back to this for a few days now. After the initial day of crashes and half hour pauses between games starting, I've kinda decided to leave it till it comes out. I've seen enough to know it's going to a great. The last time I played my team got "OWNED, YOU SUCK" after too many games in a row to make it fun. It seemed like we were constantly getting matched with players far better than us.

However having witnessed about 6 people all storming into the territory at the broken wall bit on High Ground and there being grenades, bullets, lasers, needles and sparks galore filling my screen with seemingly diverse no effects on the game, I know it's going to be the most frantic, full on, wargasm ever when it's finished.
