Got a killing frenzy on Valhalla last night using the Warthog turret nice that they've turned it into a more offensive weapon again like it was in Halo 1. Rather than just a group transport with a gun on it, also the rockets no longer lock on? If thats the case vechiles should be worth using more in this one.

I played with some people off of here yesterday for a while, just like to say thanks for the games I was Little Joe II.

I agree with what was said earlier about the sniper, It does appear to have some sort of 'splash' or bullet delay kind of thing, well I hope its not splash damage, I used the sniper a lot on Halo 2 used to be quite handy with it and I haven't really noticed the recoil or longer reload times on it it seems just as power as ever for me.

Great so far.

I've had about 3 kill frenzy's so far. I'm genuinely surprised by how much pizzown I'm dealing out.

i'm waiting for the full release. i just don't want to be playing this for the next month, only for it to be taken away. and i really want to get that feeling of wonder when i first start playing the full version. so few games these days can give you that feeling, so i'd rather avoid any spoilers. am i silly?

Have you tried it on the beta? It's completely different to the territories game in Halo 2 and completely awesome as well.

It comes up every other game nearly for me on Team Skirmish. I'm sure it can be very good when you have a good team, but when everyone just runs around as if it was team slayer ignoring the points it sucks.

I'd noticed their absence.

I think the lack of Banshee is one of the main reasons I've enjoyed it so much, it just doesn't work in multiplayer.

It would work better if you could destroy it qwith just machine gun fire. The only thing that could ever realistically bring one down was the rockets.

A Halo modding community has accidentally made various hidden game files public, found by retrieving hidden data in the Halo 3 Beta code.

Before we go any further, a warning: the following are in no way official or confirmed features of Halo 3.

* New equipment: Instacover ; Smoke (suggested this might be a smoke grenade?) ; Jammer

* New vehicles: Chopper ; Pelican ; Shadow

* New weapons: Flamethrower ; Claymore Grenade

* New mode: Infection (described as "Destroy the Flood or become infected. Score points for killing flood or big points for infecting a human. The player with the most points wins."

* New rankings: The highest rankings are now Killpocalypse and Killionaire, instead of Double Kill and Triple Kill.

* A reference to a map editor has also been found, a returning feature from Halo 2.

I played a game with a bunch of guys fromon here, Beertiger included and really enjoyed it.

Then I played a game with some of the members of the Sony Beta trials that I am part of and found them to be obnoxious cunts....

Its funny how the quality of the other people playing affects your enjoyment.

I won my third ever game! Against people of the interwebs! On Shotty Snipers on High Ground! And it was freakin' ace. I quite like this 'online gaming' thing, might end up buying a Live sub next week :D

Shotty Snipers on High Ground is amazingly tense. Do you hold your position? Tease your way forward? Absolutely perfect game for the map.

Are they going to fix the matchmaking at all? Even when I try the rumble training it throws me and four other spaz-mitten handed losers in with some Mountain Dew addled psychopath who just rapes everyone.

It feels like Mike Tyson at a beauty pagent and I'm Miss Wyoming.

That's supposedly true...

But, I think partly because of my NAT situation, mine takes a while to match me with anyone, and eventually it will get to the point of setting the skill range from 1 to 19 in hopes of finding someone for me. Therefore, I'm hardly well matched with my rank of 3.

Well, I came to this with quite a lot of cynicism. I didn't really enjoy Halo 2 online, as I didn't like some of the features and couldn't get on with/work out the weapon balance. I also didn't have much opportunity to play it and always felt out of my depth. That, coupled with the dull single-player meant that I just lost interest. Unbelievable considering how much I enjoyed Halo: CE and spent countless hours playing multiplayer with mates on single screen or system link.

I also get wound up by the Bungie diary - I was so excited by the hyperbole before Halo 2 that reading anything that describes "amazing water features" etc. just leaves me cold. Those over-enthusiastic guys really led us down the garden path prior to the last launch.

So, no expectations here.

First impressions weren't great - I don't know that many people online - none of my RL friends have a 360 - so I don't get the "team spirit" that I think makes it more fun. Matchmaking seems to take ages when you're not in a party - up to 5 minutes between games. Didn't have any days off this week so was just playing in the evening.

However, I've managed to have some decent sessions over the weekend, and...

They've just got it so right this time. Whatever anyone says, it looks amazing to me (I still think of when I used to play Spectrum games and dream about owning an Outrun arcade machine, so the fact that I have something in my living room of this graphical standard that allows me to play with people all over the world still blows my mind). The weapons balance is so much better than the last game, and the new maps are amazing - Kerraig is right, Snowbound is better than people have given it credit for, and Valhalla is just superb. I definitely agree that the whole "feel" of the game has gone back to the first game, and I get the same buzz that I did when running around Blood Gulch. Sure, I'm not very good, and regularly get my lungs handed to me in games, and I do get annoyed by the "professional" players (not idiots just enjoying the game, like me) who jump everywhere as it just makes the whole thing a bit silly, but I'm back to shouting at the screen, laughing and cheering when I kill someone after a big firefight or (rarely) win a match. It's awesome, and I didn't do this with Halo 2.

I think the films are incredible - a great addition - though I'd like to have controls to Rewind/FF (maybe you can, but I couldn't find it), and the whole thing is very slick. The music is great - the title screen gave me goosebumps.

Welcome back old friend. Please Bungie, don't screw it up between now and September 26, and remember to add in a good single player game.

I'd love to join up with anyone who's not great but just wants to have some fun games and a bit of a laugh. Gamertag: Loony Jetman 2

See you guys online.

I'm liking this and I thought Halo was poo so I hope the singleplayer has the same feel. I'm proper shit at it though as most 'hardcore' players just seem to jump out of the way of everything and anything (which annoys me to a degree). I did get a 'kill frenzy' on shottie snipers though taking out about 6 players in a row with the sniper rifle before getting killed. More deaths followed after too. Is this considered a cheap weapon online?

I've got the last three days of the Beta off work for me birthday.
