Supposedly bungie recommend doing this.

If you are seeing the "Game Over" message today, the 15th of May, try the following. Either, wait about an hour and relax, or if you cannot wait

Restart your box, then do this:

Go to the dashboard.

Go to the system tab

Select memory

Highlight your hard drive

Press Y

Press X, X, LB, RB, X, X

Say yes when prompted to do maintenance on your hard drive.

This removes all previous title updates and prompts you to redownload new ones.

This message is only useful today, May 15th. When the Beta actually ends in three weeks, it won't help you.

Yep, I'm the one who posted that here first. The thing is, I have to do it for every match I play now, as do loads of other people in the thread on bungie.net where that solution was posted.

I've deleted the lot from my HDD and am downloading the whole thign again now, it's going much much slower.

I think we can safely say that there won't be a public beta for Halo 4.

I'm not sure, actually. It seems like the only (and perhaps best) way of identifying the stress issues associated with something of this scale before launch.

There's 300k beta testers online in the last 24 hours. Other games don't get anywhere near that kind of usage after launch, let alone before.

It's from xbox-scene forums where suddenly lot's of people playing the beta of halo with a copy of crackdown couldn't get online anymore. Doing a "test connection" throws that message up when you click the info tab next to wired/wireless connection. Scary shit.

Seems to be at the moment it's just crackdown and halo beta. I do think though, that there aren't that many reports of bannings considering the number of copies out there. So either lot's of folk were waiting, or it's something else.

I love this shit. In 10 years we'll all be looking back, punching each other on the shoulder and laughing at how messed up and how brilliant the beta was.

I loved the 360, halo 3 beta fortnight was :lol:

Nah, we'll all be looking back to how awesome the Halo 3 Beta was before the Crackdown guys were invited. It's been nothing but hassle since :lol:
