Halo 2 Soundtrack Rumour

ok, so my friend is the bassist for american sell out rock band Incubus. He reckons that his band and the shite nu metal drop outs Hoobastank both have choons on the halo 2 soundtrack. I'm praying to god this is false as it points towards a shocking licensed middle of the road rock soundtrack as opposed to the orchestral majesty of the original. But he has shown me pictures of him and the band playing a demo version of the game, which was apparently given to them as a gift.

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of rock tunes turned up in the game- both the books and the original game make a point of the fact that Sergeant Johnson is a big fan of metal (and that a descendent of contemporary heavy metal is still popular in the future). But they'll surely be playing in the background of a scene, rather than replacing the orchestral score.

well there is that one rock tune in the original in a cutscene. Hopefully if they arent pulling my leg it'll be something trivial like that.

Yeah, that's what I mean. There's no way in a million years they're going to go with a rock soundtrack, Bungie would have to be off their heads on gas.

Yeah, I'd agree. The weekly updates make quite a few references to how Martin O'Donell's score has really added to certain scenes, making it a more complete game. Though if they were going to use some metal tracks in the background, surely they'd choose at least a half decent group. I thought the Bungie guys had taste...

I pray you are right.

Could an Incubus/Hoobastank soundtrack ruin Halo 2? Possibly.

Well, I'm really hoping it's just an instrumental track...

Sellouts? Oh dear. Are you a sellout because you work on big films?

Go work on some shitty art house.

There's 'rock song to save the world' too in Silent Cartographer when you're on your way back up to the exterior.

Ask him for his Halo 2 demo for us would you please?

They are sell outs because they fundamentally changed their sound to sell more records. i'd say that qualifies them.

I dont consider myself a sell out because I didnt start independent and then go major. i started major to help facilitate my move to independents.
