So Whos's Playing Fable?

I love this game. Best of its kind I've played since Knights of the Old Republic. Not as groundbreaking as we'd hoped, but still a very enjoyable adventure game.

There's so much to see and do. Going on a GTA-style rampage or chatting up a sexy lady is a lot more fun than 'collect the 8 magic crystals of Ernadai' (or whatever). The combat is dead simple, but very satisfying.

9/10 in my book, but I do love this kind of game.

Short ;

Playing it ; not liking it.

Just paths in a forest/cave. You can move 2 steps to the right or left.

Crappy auto lock system. If you want to play a good guy you will often slap good guys because they just walk into the beasts/bandits. Very nice. There goes your rep.

Boring quest. And what is the point of a quest when you can't fail? In FF games i accept it but in a game like Fable.. neh.

Saving when your in the middle of a quest isn't possible. Stupid.

10 Enemy's at 1 time is nothing special.

Bad sound acting (damn.. Slooooooooooow...)

Useless interaction system. Why? You don't need it.

AND DAMN... THE GUY NEEDS TO STOP SAYING I'M LOW ON AMMO/MANA OR WHEN I HAVE A NEW QUEST. I KNOW! Really, it is so frustrating.

blablablablab!

I didn't expect much from Fable and what i got is just a Kingdom Hearts. It's called RPG but basicly it's just a freaking Button Basher with a story. A bad story that is.

5/10.

Edit : Going back to a guild for missions. Upgrading your skills in the guild. Shooting birds in the guild. A+ for every training you complete in the guild etc. Fuck freedom. Hype rules!

That was a bit harsh. I bet you're not far enough in the game to even give it the score you gave it...by that I mean ANY score at all. I'll wait until completion before I rate it, but so far so good!

that doesn't sound good. has this generally had good or average reviews so far? i have seen a couple of glowing ones, but they don't sound sure as to why it is so great.

would like to hear your impressions lasy.

88% average score according to www.gamerankings.com

well i'm in the process of getting it. i just wondered what people's impressions were who have managed to get hold of a copy before me.

i'm not Molyneux's biggest fan (usually can't stand his games), but this looks potentially okay....

Where from!

I'm a couple of hours in, but my first impressions aren't very positive. Voice acting and dialogue/script are pretty poor, animations are average, and all I seem to have done so far is sit through lots of cut-scenes (which are poor for the reasons above), and wandering through small environments hitting things. And the combat's pretty rudimentary too; just auto-lock to the target and press a button repeatedly (my most recent combat consisted of hitting someone who fell over, then hitting them again whenever they got up, and repeating till she ran out of health). To be fair, none of this is earth-shatteringly bad - it's just not very good.

I can't, so far, see any justification for a score above about 4/10, but for that reason I'm assuming it opens up and gets better from here on in. Either that or I really am just a jaded cynic who has no soul.

As I mentioned on the 1st page of this topic, there are 2 types of saves - Hero Save (saves your characters stats, experiance and items) and World Save (everything). The World Save isn't available until you've finished all your training and 'graduated' from the hero guild.

Stupid? Yes.

Thankfully once thats done you can save at any time.

Well thank buggery for that, I did the same thing - messed around in training a bit thn decided to save, only to find I'd been plonked back right at the start.

First impressions are not that great, more cut scenes than MGS and the voice acting is annoying. But it's early days at the moment.

Ok, so decided that you couldn't actually save the game properly (a 'World Save') until you've finished all your training?

This would be fine if it wheren't for the fact that it can take a couple of hours to complete it, if like me you like to explore a bit and do all the little extra things.

Gah!

Hey man, it still autosaves the game all the time during training, so you can still switch off then, I think.

Not from what I've heard on the IGN boards.Still, it's up to you.

I've finished the training now and become a full grown adult. It's definately growing on me.
