Consolevania Type 4

Watched type 4 before going to bed last night. To be perfectly honest, I skipped the Legend bits after about halfway through the second one. He',s actually pretty funny, but I can',t stand watching members of he public trotting out clichés like ',groundbreaking', and ',repetitive',. The rest was pretty funny (the ending in particular, and &quot,TAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAP...&quot, had me in stitches.

I have to say though, the actual reviews were sort of a revelation. At first it seems really weird to watch someone playing the game with no voiceover for (seemingly) extended periods of time, but then I realised I was getting a better idea of what was going on in the game because of it.

There are only 2 problems with it. The first is the picture quality - it sucks!, Not just in the filmed segments, but also the ingame footage is tough to really get a good look at because there',s no synching being done. Sure, I laughed at the cherries comment for WE8, but try as I might, I wasn',t sure I could actually make out any slowdown from the video. I',m sure if you ask us nicely enough, we',ll all donate money so you can get a graphics card with Video In, or a better camera or something. And if you can at all help it, don',t use MPEG. It sucks!,

The other problem is that I',m a southern bastard, and I can',t understand what you lot are saying half the time!, :D Having said that, that Riddick/Diesel impression was top notch, although I',m amazed at how hard you all are to be standing outside at night doing all those takes without dropping from hypothermia. Clearly proof of higher scottish pedigree, no doubt. You should tell the skinny bloke to cut his hair, though.

Keep it up, lads. Clearly internet TV shows are getting more popular by the day, and you guys have one which is, um, actually rather good. Nice one!,

I think there',s some copyright reason as to why they can',t use that.

Using images from games.

Ahh right. I',m surprised there was a problem with that, as one of the central tenets of copyright law in britain is that you can reuse anything if it',s for critical or satirical purposes. Which pretty much covers all of Consolevania.

So can we count on Xvid DVD-quality video with AC3 audio encoding for the next one? :D

I'll have the others up for http download soon.

As I can't really afford to have all episodes up at 200MB I'm gonna be doing old episodes at 50 or 100MB and have the latest at 200MB.

It should all be very watchable.

50 or 100MB? You could watch them on a PDA or whathaveyou.

Due to my restrictive uni net connection, I can't use bittorrent or anything. I do however have a connection that goes at about 900kb/s. So will C5 be released on http quickly? I don't really want it compressed though, unless the compression is pretty unnoticeable image and sound wise.
