Second Sight Impressions

OK, don't let my moan about the camera controls put you off because you'll rarely even need to look up and down like you do in Splinter Cell, etc.

Most of the time you're on an eye level playing field and you can also leave in a fixed style mode similar to Meatl Gear Solid.

As for the game itself it's really great fun and I think U-1 has summed it up prefectly when he says - "its seems like a cartoony MGS, with Psi powers thrown in for good measure."

I love the sniper levels. :)

Pressing UP makes the character look UP, and DOWN makes him look DOWN.

I'd say that the opposite was more of a common configuration.

Well that means I can't actually buy this game due to the fact I cannot and will not play agame which has the controls inverted the wrong way around. I was going to purchase this title, but due to the fact it will be all but unplayable to me I'm going to have to give this one a miss.

And I would agree, its more common configuration the other way around....

Don't bother with 'Headhunter Redemption' then because that's exactly the same. :)

I will say you should at least rent SS as you don't really need to look up and down.

Got the demo to work finally, and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. I hate TS2 with a passion, so I was weary of this, but I found it enjoyable, good looking and very polished indeed. This was only the PS2 demo, so I guess it'd look even better on Xbox. Definitely one to 'preview' when I get a my modded box next month.

Really? I've not played a single game where I've thought "Shit! This game is inverted only, I can't play it". And even if it did, I'd try to adapt, so suck it in and persevere. :D

No. I won't.

Why should I play a game which forces me to adapt to an un-natural control method? My mind just will not work the other way around.

It not like it isn't a feature which takes 5 minutes to add, there is just no excuse not to have an invert option.

And I've never had to think 'shit this game has no invert option' because 99.9% of games do have such an option.

Even though I do agree it is shit they haven't included such an option, I don't see what is so unnatural about pressing up to look up. It sounds logical.

Fair enough, but please promise me you'll never become an airline pilot.

But yeah, imagine the stick IS your head. To look 'up' you'd pull your head 'back', and to look 'down' you'd push your head 'forward'.

I have flown planes before. No shit, I've flown Grob Tutors when I was in the Air Cadets.

:D

I do see what you mean, but I like that when I press up, I look up. I can use either method just as well though.

Just completed this gem, took me just under 7 hours. It was pretty amazing though, definatly one of the best games this year.

Highly recommended to everyone.

(y)

although i havent finished it myself (taking it easy on challenging) i agree with ludachrist, one of the best games released this year. but it sadly wont do well.

LC is also correct when it comes to the up-down stick action, you dont use it that often and tbh, its not that hard to change.

i do like all the little secrets hidden on the terminals and the cabinets. nice one FRD.

ok, for fable:

the reviews talk up the good points, and i agree with most of them but i will comment on some elements that some havent gone into:

i was only able to spend a few hours on it, and its a good game. but it reminds me of B+W in a way. everything interacts with everything but its a bit of a chore (imho) non-intuitive experimentation isnt exciting. although it is something to do when you are bored...

its VERY 'cosmetic', you can do lots but it doesnt seem to have any REAL use, apart from updating a stats screen, like getting married and divorcing her/him.

its very free and you could concievably waste away your time just messing.

its fresh, i will give it that, but so was B+W. i couldnt honestly score it until i at least play 24 hours.

now back to second sight.

OK I give up im totally stuck!

Been trying to get past the level "Consipracy" for a few hours, I think I know what I have to do, I just cant do it.

Spoilers start - Ive picked up the disk to use on the computers, ive also found the passcode to use the computer. The problem is that the disk appears blank when I use it. According to a piece of paper I read on the wall it says that guards have different privilages for viewing media files. So ive tried to possess them, but when they use the PC it just asks them to insert a disk (and it wont let them pick one up from the storeroom where I got mine)

Also there is an elevator that apparently needs a key, which I also cant find.Spoiler end

Ive made really good progress upto here but this has me totally stumped (im sure im missing something obvious :D )

HELP ME!!!!!

SPOILER START

There's 2 PCs in that room.

What you need to do is 'Drag and Drop' the media file to the blank disc and then go over to the other PC (which has the software to play it) and it'll be shown in the conference room.

SPOILER END

I finished the game yesterday by the way and loved almost every minute of it. :)

Holding the pad on a horizontal plane, as I assume we all do -

LEFT = move the line of sight left

RIGHT = move the line of sight right

FORWARD = move the line of sight forward

BACK = move the line of sight back

The trouble is confusing FORWARD with UP and BACK with DOWN on the stick for these type of games.

Don't think it quite applies really. I mean, pushing left makes you look left, not tilt your head left, whereas up and down are definately 'tilts' if that makes any sense.

So you can't look up or down without tilting your head?

Sorry, backwards controls are for backwards people ;)

Well just completed it and all I can say is WOW!!!!

Loved every minute of it from start to finish. It just oozed quality througout.

So many standout moments..fantasitc character design, nice twisty plot and a control system to die for.

I predict a serious sleeper hit with this one. ;)
