...Because, come Friday, you'll bring pleasure to hundreds of thousands of people who appreciate what you do and are quite prepared to put their hands in their pockets and part with their hard earned cash to salute you and your team who have the talent and the absolute balls to deliver simply the best arcade conversion ever... and then some.

SOL - I salute you.

Fuck the Holy Grail, you have created a brand new must have treasure.

B)

Now thats more like it :)

Thanks mate.

Again. I know you can't please all the people all the time, but grabbing a bootleg copy and showing off about it doesn't half rile me up.

I bought it yesterday from a shop being cheeky. For £40. Still, just the fun I had with it last night was worth that. I even got up early today to have a quick spin through before work.

However, like all games, I am shit at it. I'll get better though. I'm already much better at controlling the car during and immediately after a drift than I ever was with the arcade machine.

yes, let's all watch piracy dissolve the sales figures for the best game of the last 6 months and probably the game of the year (until Halo2 and GTA:SA arrive, anyway).

know what? fuck you all. you deserve to miss out on the smiles we'll all be beaming come the end of this week.

I was joking, but that's a good response.

what's better? and no, you can't have BO3 or Generic FPS XXVII.

NOTHING has given me more gaming pleasure in the last 6 months than OR2 - and that's just the demo.

o/\o

You fucking knows it.

Went online last night and (very drunkenly) beat some yanks in 5 straight races. I fucking loved it seeing as I suck so much at everything else!

S0L... hats off to your lot and the boys from Sega – a job fucking well done.

*doffs hat*

Remind me why I bother again...?

What a lot is a developers life. I think I will take up something less soul-destroying like undertaking or cleaning out sewers.

Well thanks, that makes me feel a whole load better about it. Oh and by the way, that is written in a sarcastic tone, just in case you don't have the IQ to realise it.

I don't care if you don't like the game, but your mate should either buy or rent it.

I don't care much for the Sims. But that doesn't give me free reign to copy it for someone who does.

I'm just so glad that I've taken time to come here just so I can meet people like you. Cheers a bunch.

Is Sol one of the developers from Sumo?

If so then I've got to say you guys have done a bang up job with this  I've always been wary of Sega arcade ports handled by third party teams outside of the Japanese in-house staff at Sega after the atrocious port of House of the Dead (amongst others) on the Saturn. But Outrun 2 is great, really chuffing great.

Hell, the best part of it is just getting to play it in the first place. There aren't any arcades near me that have an Outrun 2 machine, so playing on Xbox is my only option.

SOL, you did a great job and most of us will be stumping up the full amount for it. at a meet of 10-11 of us next week there are likely to be 7-8 copies! don't let the minority get you down. and thanks for a great conversion!

dave

In Cambridge?

Since OR2 won't get a look in at the Halo 2 meet, I'm tempted to try and make that (if you'll have me).

Oh and just to reiterate, I AM buying it.

15 miles south. in a small village. if you can get to Haverhill bus station (which you can get to from Cambridge) that's close enough, or check the EA meet 15 thread in the meets folder.

Thanks for the support guys, and yes, I am one of the team that worked on the game.

A lot of time, detail and love went into it, which is why I get annoyed at flame-bait who show off about grabbing it off the web.

Hopefully, all the honest gameplayers will appreciate this work. The rest can go play on the motorway blindfolded.

Maybe if he likes it he'll go out and buy a copy.

I dunno, don't get your knickers in a twist, I'm sure its ace and will sell millions.

yeah come on down and party.

hopefully outrun 2 will take pride and place, although we'll need not only 8 TV's but even more for the others not playing Outrun.

pfff Amazon say my copy won't be dispatched until the 2nd Oct. Damn them all to hell.

I feel like a right cunt now, I hope I did'nt make him leave.

I really would never ever have bought this and did'nt see that I was doing anything terribly wrong by letting a friend play a review version to see what its like.

He could have gone to Game and got a copy of the demo... some of the staff will give it to you for free if you ask nicely.

I picked up a copy yesterday.

The Live mode is beautifully implemented. No messing about, its just another option from the main screen, no waiting, no apparant transition or anything.

having played Burnout 3 rather a lot recently though, it feels a tad slow, and empty/dead when you race.

The challenge mode is really nicely put together, but fuck knows what the point of the cards you get as a reward is. Ooh look, its another picture of some Ferrari branded goods. Thoguh I suppose that'll be interesting to a few people. Maybe more comes of it the further you get. I hope so. More and more pointless images, will disapoint me more and mroe the further I get.

You haven't done anything wrong.

In fact he should be stroking your arse for trying to sell his game to your friend. He's gone from 0 sales to a potential purchase.

The ISO is getting this game out there and chalking up additional sales from the "floating voters" who werent' sure, but now want it for Live play.

But I still can't understand why a developer would be so bothered about piracy... Unless it's a performance paid contract... But as I said over on the NTSC-UK thread, the biggest enemy there is consumer apathy and poor PR, not piracy.

Piracy will always be a factor in the success of any game.

And the price of games, but that's for another thread.

That's odd. I could of sworn I ordered it at Simplygames, but it doesn't show up on my orders page. Doh.

I'm tempted but it's on a Sunday and the trains/buses are a c*** then.

Not sure if I have the money really. I guess Live will have to do for now.

I just Outrun from work today. Erm..i cant stand it. Its slow, the drifting is dire (it just sends you off the road), the music is twee, the engine sounds like a wasps fart.

I cant believe it. After World of Stu's review aswell. Burnout 3 feels like another console generation better. Blimy.

Sorry author of game..not your fault..Segas duff arcade game. :P
