'official Outrun 2 Thread'

OutRun2 will be talked of in years to come as a classic. Burnout 3 will not. I've found Burnout 3 immensely enjoyable for the most part (ignoring the problems online) but it's not 'special'.

I think you're wrong. Outrun 2 is a nice game. Burnout 3 is an experience. I don't think Outrun 2 will achieve true 'classic' status outside the retro-heads and Sega-fanboys.

Outrun 2, hmmm, I'm d/ling the review copy to let my mate who loves outrun play it.

I fucking hate outrun, pointless and not fun in the slightest, except that tune.

Remind me why I bother again...?

What a lot is a developers life. I think I will take up something less soul-destroying like undertaking or cleaning out sewers.

Burnout 3 is an experience allright, A painfully overrated one.

After about five hours the game started to feel like a very dull collectathon, Far too easy and the crash mode is rendered useless thanks to the 4x pickup.

Its prequels are far better games as they don't feature the poorly implemented takedown feature and actually encourage decent control from the player in order to progress.

...Because, come Friday, you'll bring pleasure to hundreds of thousands of people who appreciate what you do and are quite prepared to put their hands in their pockets and part with their hard earned cash to salute you and your team who have the talent and the absolute balls to deliver simply the best arcade conversion ever... and then some.

SOL - I salute you.

Fuck the Holy Grail, you have created a brand new must have treasure.

ok, been playin outrun2 on live! its bloody great fun, had 6 in a race, however the slowdown on the first "big powerslide" corner is pretty bad. especially when everyone is powersliding! but, it does seem to be JUST that corner. so no great loss.

Fuck that then.

I'll stick with my yarr'd version.

yes, let's all watch piracy dissolve the sales figures for the best game of the last 6 months and probably the game of the year (until Halo2 and GTA:SA arrive, anyway).

know what? fuck you all. you deserve to miss out on the smiles we'll all be beaming come the end of this week.

Having played the demo and arcade version loads i`m incline to agree that for me this is easily gonna be one of the best games of the year for me perhaps the game of the year. Depends what genre your into really, i prefer racers over first person shooters so halo 2 ain`t at the top of my list like most others even though it`s right up there. Seriously though the people who comment on the lack of depth have you played any of segas racing games? None of them have tons and tons of tracks in or offers gigantic careers modes. What they do offer are sublime course design with great handling and huge amounts of replayability which will keep you coming back for one more go especially on the time trial side which is more than i can say for one certain arcade racer out at the moment.

i would agree 100% if the frustration and traffic were turned down a tad.

Personally I'd like to see more traffic and less speed. For me Crazy Taxi present the best there is in traffic dodging fun while providing a decent, if not steller, sense of speed.

I'm tempted by OR2, I really am. But Psi-Ops and Rome:TW are both out friday. It's a ver expensive time at the moment.

More Traffic and Less speed would work for me too.

I love the driving style and method in Crazy Taxi. Balanced perfectly.

Time will tell I suppose. But I certainly don't see B3 being heralded for much longer. After christmas it will be but a memory.

If you look through my posts you'll find I've put accross a pretty balanced view. No needless B3 bashing here. I don't want to be put in a 'Sega-Fanboy' catergory (not that I'm saying you're putting me there Nap0le0n old chum), I didn't even buy a Dreamcast  And I'm not even old enough to remember the first game, so nostalgia isn't a factor.

OutRun2 just appeals to me and I can see it has that X-Factor of the likes of Sega Rally, it's a proper arcade game and not afraid to be so.

EDIT: And if we're talking games of the year, neither O2 or B3 would come close. Ninja Gaiden would be mine so far and then Halo 2 and PES4 are going to be up there. PES4 only if LIVE play is implemented to near perfection.

EDIT 2: Okay OutRun 2 would come close. Passing Breeze :)

I'm not bashing OR2 either. As I've said, I think it's a nice and good game.

So let's all rejoice and have a drink :)

Yeah, I realise you're not bashing. I think we can both see they are very different games. I just prefer the more mellow experience of O2.

You getting the first round in?
