i love the way that the weather changes when you travel down an off road. seeing the sun shoot over head playing with the shadows on your car. so i love that part and it gives you a tiny little breather before the next section.

each to their own on that one.

also with the traffic on Burnout 3 being in the same place, it's not. at least not online. somtimes you fly round a corner and nothing is there, other times it's into a wall of traffic.

I'm sure it is, it's just that you're never on the same part of the track, at the same time twice (if you know what I mean).

In theory having the traffic running in set patterns would reduce the amount of info needed to be squirted back and forth online, right?

Ill keep this as short as possible by missing out the insignificant words.....

Great - Best - Drift - Wow.

7.4 - Lasers - Hard - HOW?

Longer version:

Please can anyone share some tips on level 7.4 - lasers - Its too bloody hard - I get nowhere near an A.

And thus FIFA is better than PES.

whatever.

I think I'm allowed an opinion, yes? well, WE/PES games shit all over FIFA games from a great height in general. however, PES3 (which I have played for several weeks and thus can form a cogent opinion, thanks very much) is such a massive step backwards, and is so hideously and fundamentally flawed, that (the much-improved, at least on xbox) FIFA 2004 is actually more fun to play. that's an OPINION, learn to deal with it, and cease this childish nonsense which you seem to feel appropriate.

Less of the arguing in in this topic now. Stu clearly hadn',t given it enough time and came in firing blanks. He',s seen the light now.

OutRun 2 should be a joyous folder full of sunshine and laughter...

I',ve spent the evening swearing at one of the late lazer missions.

Some ammo for DiscoStu',s realism argument...

Come to a complete stop and ZERO cars will overtake you. Anything you just passed effectively disappears from existence.

So? If you want realism buy a Geoff Crammond F1/Indy Car game - OutRun is about driving ridiculously fast with the top down, your *ahem* ',girl', by your side with a wicked tune on the stereo, through sumptuous locations, all in the glorious sunshine. You',re not supposed to stop or your timer will run out and you',ll fail.

It',s an arcade game... did the fact that Crazy Taxi wasn',t realistic make it any less enjoyable? No. Is there anything ',real', about the majority of games? No.

Repeat after me:

Game.

Game.

Game.

NOT simulator.

Capiche?

Well, I thought I',d be on the BO3-is-best (unfashionable) side of the argument, but I',ve just spent a blissful evening in the company of OR2 and I',d like echo those opinions about the sheer joy of the driving. My only moments of irritation derive from my high-manitenance virtual girlfriend yelling and manhandling my fey, foppish body when I score anything less than a A rank. Show some spine, man!, I forgive her when she pulls out that bottle of champagne in the Ancient Ruins cutscene.

Although my wife doesn',t care if I displease my virtual girlfriend by crashing when she walks in front of the screen, and thinks &quot,Night Flight&quot, is dreadful, demands I put a custom soundtrack on, and hopes the game is cheap, as she thinks it looks rubbish. Bah.

I can do all the routes on normal with the novice cars, and I don',t think I',m in love with it enough to try the harder skill level or the better cars.

It',s great to stick on for 5 minutes to kill the time though - a true arcade game :)

Have you tried the Heart Attack mode, or the challenges? I',ve moved on to those now (even though I',ve not done the harder routes yet), and they seem to be a good way to maintain your interest and haul you up the learning curve. The 5 minute playtime (extended across an evening) is part of the appeal for me too. Too early for me to say whether it',s just a passing breeze of fun or a long term love affair.

I played OutRun2 again and actually liked it a lot more. The trackside detail is immense on some stages which I never noticed before, and the drifting didn',t seem so out of place. So...a little back-treading from me there.

I guess it just wasn',t what I was expecting. I still think the flaws I mentioned are niggles which should',ve been rectified but I was way too hard.

Takes a big man to admit it ,)

Anyone got to he endurance races!, 30 Stages back to back. All 15 Reversed then forward. It',s a great feature. Like a Gumball mode, which I remember being requested on ntsc-uk. Well it',s in.

EDIT: Edurance Races = Frustration. Lead for 29 sections, hit a truck on penultamate corner, loose. Not fun, not fun at all. You can',t build up a lead even if you FLY round. So it comes down to the last section every time. May as well be a 1 section race.

&lt,/winge over&gt,

&lt,/winge over&gt,

The endurance races are just like a lot of the Sumo bits. Completely unbalanced and thoughtless.

I don',t want trucks and buses 4-abreast so that me and the AI are just cruising behind them desperately waiting for them to start spreading out. But it happens so often and at the worst possible times. That never happens in the arcade so why does it happen here?

And the rewards for winning are so utterly pointless. It',s the hardest thing in the whole game to complete and you get a trophy for it.

But it',s not even a real, modeled polygon trophy. It',s a fucking picture of a trophy on a virtual card.

It',s the biggest letdown since the 99 Trial in Ridge Racer V where you had to overtake 99 Hard level opponents over 99 laps of the longest course and you won... A MEDAL!,

Again I`m not gonna read all of this thread but can anyone confirm that the Scud Race/Daytona 2 tracks made it in (and how to unlock them)

Super GT and Daytona are in in all their juddery, bland glory.

To unlock them, you need to complete two of the mission mode levels. That',s one level per course.

As for lasers... More luck than judgement sometimes. Remember that you only have a certain amount of time before the number of hearts you can receive ticks down until the laser extinguishes. So don',t take the risks to go for the nearly out 1 heart beam - go for the 4 heart beam straight up ahead.

And remember that you',ve got plenty of time to cruise around, so don',t worry about blasting through at full speed. Just take your time and pick and choose the biggest bounties.

Over at NTSC the Sumo guy claims some balancing and tweaking has been done to the final retail version that wasn't in the pirate copy. Dunno if it's true.

Inspired by your post, I have taken the liberty of contacting SOL of Sumo Digital.

Hopefully he will visit this forum soon for a Q&A session.

I'm sure he'll appreciate all the people yarring it here. Although to be fair, I expect all of us are buying it for Live anyway.

Exactly.

Q. I'm a pirate, ripping off your hard work. Can you tell me if you've made some bugfixes and tweaks so I can figure out whether to bother ripping those off as well?

A. Fuck off.

:( (I know many here are just excited to play it early, and will be buying a copy on release, for Live or not)
