Is it a .rar or .zip archive? If so, there are several password crackers available on Suprnova.

Hmm sounds good. What client do you use to leech?

Grabit is free, easy to use and doesn't hog your system (unlike Newsbin Pro and some others), but not packed with features. v1.5.0 is an experimental build with a nifty new search feature, but seems stable - http://www.shemes.com/download_experimental_release.php

Newsleecher is good too.

Check out here for some info on Newsgroups too -

I'll try that newsserver ... can't go wrong for $15, huh?

Edit - I see there's a healthy selection of porn on board as well  -

Tsk.

Anyway, I had a quick go through the arcade mode and it's great (obviously). It's off bounds now until next weekend at the earliest though - don't want to play it too much before my legit copy arrives.

Needless to say the bonus tracks look sensational. But another cool thing Sega Europe had the good sense to add to the conversion was remixes of the original's three legendary OutRun tunes - Splash Wave, Magical Sound Shower and Passing Breeze, from none other than a certain Mr Richard Jacques.

Known as the Euro Remixes, you can hear all three of them in our videos, and an Official Soundtrack CD with the remixes - as well as the original 1986 renditions which are also included in the game - will soon be available in limited numbers. (Stay tuned for details). The conversion's unlockable remixed music is obviously in addition to arcade OutRun2's seven total music tracks.

well i been playing this quite lot recently and have managed to unlock the scud race tracks, graphics are a bit bland on them but are still loads ov fun, you race them one after another as if you where doing the normal tracks.

Thought i had unlocked all the cars, but raced against a diffrent Ferrari today so hopefully there are loads more than what you could see in the demo. Getting really hard now tho but them maths challenges are genius.

There are thousands of songs as well, i currently have about 14 diffrent tracks some of them i have to say are just complete rubbish tho.

EDIT:

Just got the daytona tracks now, they are flippin awsome so much fun. the galleon looks just wow, i have to say that this is one of the best looking games i have seen in progressive scan its just so ARCADE.

You haven't yarr'd it yet?  :)

No.

I like to savour the hype and wait for the official version as I know that if I did Yarrr it I wouldn't buy the original upon it's release.

I look at it this way. When you download a movie you usually get an inferior quality copy minus all extras that flesh out DVDs - Therefore there is an incentive to buy the original with excellent picture and sound plus the extra content. However, with a game the Yarrr version looks and sounds exactly as the official release would, therefore negating the reason to buy the original upon release (unless you really want the packaging).

So, in other words - I can wait... only 2 weeks to go.

Anyone else care to verify this worrying claim...

:)

I have the yarr aswelll and there's definately slowdown in certain sections. The final section on Easy route and some of the Missions where they have all the traffic as coaches (its pretty bad here). In Tulip Gardens (Last Easy section) its minimal.

I've also noticed some when the heart indicator swirls up a level

Hopefully it's just the yarrr

Hmmm....

I'll have to double check this. Any excuse to play. :)

Do you have your Xbox set to PAL or NTSC? (I doubt that would make any difference though).

It's a carbon copy of the arcade original (apart from the lower rez due to TV standards), but I'm still not overly impressed by it (I wasn't really impressed by the arcade version either). What is it that makes you people love this game so much? Or: what is it that I'm missing?

Yeah, I've noticed a little slowdown on some of the missions. It's usually on the very first stage when you're driving up to the city and there's a lot of cars/buses around. It isn't very often though, and is only for a couple of seconds at a time. The arcade mode is fine AFAIK.

Anyway, I'm fucking love this game. It's just so much fun to play- the power sliding, the OOT nature of the courses (What other game lets you drive through 5 or so countries on one road? :( ), the colourful graphics, the excellent cheesy music. I can't wait for my 'real' copy to arrive in a couple of weeks to try the online scoreboards, downloadable ghosts and online play

There is indeed a fair bit of slowdown. Mainly in the missions, but it does rear its head in Arcade mode also. In all fairness the arcade version wasn't completely bereft of slowdown in the sections affected (mainly Tulip Garden) so no biggie really.

The missions themselves are 50/50 in terms of quality. Some of them really suit the game and others really leap in the face of what OutRun 2 is all about, unlike the original tasks in Heart Attack mode which really nurtured your skills.

Elsewhere, I find the bonus track to be really rather glitchy and rather dead, lacking the static detail of the OutRun 2 courses and the kinetic detail of the Daytona originals. The glitches are when you're on a huge sweeping slide and the screen jerks about as the game struggles to work out whether you're on a corner or a straight. Not to mention the weird blowing sand effect on the oval (and why only one lap? It lasts about 15 seconds max).

My last complaint is that the version of OutRun 1 is the horrible port as seen in Shenmue 2/Yu Suzuki's Gameworks with the Ferrari put back in.

The Xbox-specific stuff really does jarr in comparison to the arcade mode. If they haven't fixed the flaws since this code was released I can see myself just skipping through as fast as possible to unlock everything and spending the rest of my time in the Arcade and Live sections (as long as the latter isn't broken).

On a more positive note, the extra cars and music are fantastic and most importantly the arcade mode is absolutely spot on, which is all I ever wanted from the port really. It's just a shame that Sumo's extra work sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison to the ultra polished AM2 original arcade content.

What was so horrible about it?

At least the original Ferrari has been re-instated.

That was my only major issue with it.

And on the slowdown issues...

I fear this could taint the game for me.

Is it really that noticeable?

The graphics are blocky and garish, the sound is muffled, the framerate is nasty, it doesn't control right and the Porsches are missing.

If you have MAME, you've got a nicer version there. If you have a Saturn, you've got the best version ever. Sex on a disc I'd call it.

Slowdown... Nah, it doesn't ruin it. It just taints the product somewhat. It's silk 99% of the time, so the slowdown does leave a nasty taste in the mouth. The slowdown isn't as bad as the glitching on the bonus tracks. That really pisses me off.

Never really noticed that on either the Shenmue II or Gameworks versions.

Still. a tad annoying I grant you.

Yes, I have both of those.

Could you elaborate on this Burai. Your previous post explanation left me confused.
