great game but has anyone noticed how if you crash once in face off you never catch up, but no matter how many times you take them out they always catch up?

really pisses me off, I hate face off mode.

on the good side I unlocked the fire engine, bad thing is you have to use the crap camera angle to see where you are going. which is shit.

and you should be able to control the camera in aftertouch time to see what you are doing.

oh yes and that soundtrack is probably the worst I've ever heard. ever.

Not really - I can turn off two of those things, couldn't care less about things I don't pay any attention to, and hopefully the online setup (which I haven't really had any problems with tbh) will be sorted out.

I'm more bothered by the things that are totally down to Criterion. Niggly little things they may be, like no rear view mirror, but still things that should have been fixed.

It's perfectly possible to catch up 90% of face offs* after a crash.

Similarly it's possible to complete 90% of preview laps with Gold with one crash.

* Coupe Dominator and Super Dominator not withstanding.

I think footle I tend to get really pissed off when I crash then just crash more and more. it can be really annoying when you get a string of crashes.

anyone have any general hints? I've found the best way to win races is not to boost too much, stay at the front and take out anyone who tries to overtake you. everytime I try and build up a lead I crash or I just can't lose the field.

Not really.. races don't last that long and racers knocked out could cycle through the camera views of the remaining competitors - and still chat.

But it would be nice to have the option though wouldn't it?

i seem to remember the single player eliminator races taking a while though. i mean they're 5 or 6 laps (can't be bothered with the math now)

I thought that, too - I love the Eliminator races. They could always let the eliminated players keep going around as ghosts, like in Road rage, anyway.

I crashed, caught up, and took the bastard down (that was an act of petty revenge really) in the Coupe dominator face off, haven't done the super one yet.

Although I seem to be completely rubbish at the Hot Lap challenges. I've only completed 1 of them out of a total of 25 golds.

It would be good if when you were eliminated from the race you could still race and take out any players you don't like, your position just wouldn't matter.

Kinda like Road Rage I guess. Would be amusing with only 2 cars left and 4 people chasing them.

or having it as a one time game where after you're out of the race you getall your points added up and then sent to the lobby again. or have the option to stay in the same group.

The Alpine Autobahn sections in the later races are bit of a mare, especially the 2nd race in the super series cup.

They really hightlight my only real gripe with the gameplay - the occurance of virtually unavoidable traffic.

Just the Gold Medal cup to go on the races tonight, then a few hours blast through the remaining crash junctions.

Then work out how to get some of those darn takedown awards - which look like being the most difficult part of 100% complete...

Yep, I was looking at the Takedown awards and thinking that. 1500 takedowns? 40 takedowns in a race? Bleedin hell.

I got something like 25 after a few attempts so I reckon 40 is possible.

Yeah sure it's possible. But quite hard. The hardest Road Rage event requires you to score 24 takedowns for gold. I did that and got a bit over, but 40 is LOADS.
