Burnout 3

I honestly don't get what people are struggling over. There only two hard hot laps in the game - the Hot Rod one, and the really long Asian one.

Is the really long asian one the one with the Indy car? Its not really that hard, I did it like third time or something. I just tried it when it opened it, then I just had a go today and did it straight away. I was well chuffed though, I passed it by miliseconds. Its just annoying cause if you fail you have to spend ages doing it again.

I have mentioned it before, i think someone replied too.

But seriously is playing this game effecting anyone? My eyes feel very weird and i keep blinking all the time. My right hand aches a bit too, but probably just from this awkward pad im using.

My eyes havent gone weird on a game like this before, not even F-Zero. I probably should stop playing the game for a bit, but in all honestly im not playing it for more than one hour a go (only racked up about 10 hours gametime).

just wondered.

I've had no vision problems - and I'm usually a candidate for such things.

Are you on the Xbox? My hands always hurt using the triggers, so I just limit to no more than about 90 mins.

What does 'weird' mean?

Stop playing it so much.

I've only clocked up 18hrs gameplay getting to where I am, LOSERS!

'only'! That's a hell of a lot for me. I'm halfway through now after 9 hours, so that's about right. And yeah, I did the Indycar Asian one on my third go, the second one I missed out on gold by .15 of a second! Crap.

The thread seems to have moved on from "I just got this and..." But, what the fuck. I just got this and as good as it is I think I prefer Burnout 2. More fun, more character, more soul. Who's idea was it to go with the Punk soundtrack and cuntish DJ?

Still, numero trois is sooooo fast, though, isn't it? And slamming cars into things is great and the Elimination mode is a stroke of genius. Nothing is more motivating than being in last place about to go out. Great stuff. I'm gonna go back and play on it.

A thought did occur to me. Wouldn't it be cool is the boost didn't have a max speed. You just keep accellerating until you loose your nerve or crash. Burnout 4 perhaps.

Yes, that's what makes it hard - the disheartening restart after a last-minute crash.

Paragraphs 1 & 2 contradict themselves and for paragraph 3 see one of the Wipeout games (Fusion I think)

A quick question for you all. I am having trouble getting a gold medal on the burning lap using the F1 car. The time needed to get a gold is 2.20.00, the quickest I can get is 2.20.03!!. Can anyone give me any advice?.

I think my weakest part is the final section, when you approach the motorway. Help would be greatly appreciated!.

Mmmm. Go approximately 0.04secs faster in total, that should just about cover it.

So everyone knows how to boost start from the Crash Junctions correct?

I haven't played Crash mode at all, but in races you jam the accelerator down, tickle the brake a few times (apparently your pad vibrates, but I want to postpone RSI for a few years yet) and with just under 1s to go ease off on the accelerator for a moment and reapply. It says "Boost Start" on the screen, so you know for sure when it works.

Ok to boost start (and I found this by complete fluke) do much as is mentioned here.

Basically jam the accelerator, brake, accelerator, brake, a few times. Get a good few revs up, a little wheel spin, revs etc, and with any luck you'll get the blue boost and shoot off the line.

Takes a bit of practice, and I think it differs slightly for vehicles.

Graham_S has the right boost start technique, you don't need to pump the brake repeatedly, just once, and then with just under a second to go ease off the accelerator and slam it back on again. As far as I can tell it's the only way to do some of the crash junctions properly with the heavier vehicles as you need to get through gaps in cross traffic to get to the most lucrative bit of the crash junction.

Don't talk rubbish. You get more wheelspins and revving my way. Style man, style!
