OT, but I've just gone out and bought me my first big pile of CDs in a long, long time in order to rip them for BO3 soundtracks. I looovvee the feeling of anticipation you get just before a take-over-your-life-for weeks game hits the shelves. This is going to be great. See you on Live on Friday everyone!

Burnout has never had a handbrake button, you've always had to use the break to start drifiting round corners.

The brake (L paddle) on my steering wheel for the GC version certaintly feels like one in the game. I love drifting around corners with it.

Well it's nice to know that come Friday the world and his dog will already know each track inside out whilst I spent the time boosting in to tunnel walls and crashing off the course.

:(

Don't worry, I think I'll be joining you in the odd wall or two.

I love the noticable lack of Piracy accusations in this thread BTW ;)

Given that almost everybody posting in this thread will be buying a legitimate copy for Live, whatever their usual habits, I should imagine "early adopters" will be warmed gently on the fan heaters of Heck, rather than burning in the fiery pits of Hell.

You just couldn't wait could you? ;)

You get me!

Thats what thinking at the moment, i imagine its going to be the same with Halo 2 :D The US gets it 2 days before we do, by the time i get online, im going to be left behind.

How far have people got with this? Do we have to unlock stuff for online play?

I'm @ 17% and going through by continent at the moment. I've done a couple of things in Europe but the majority in USA

OutRun2 is constantly calling me though...the disc just sitting there, whispering...

I am around 30% in now, only progressing once getting gold though (except the F1 challenges).

We've found that this game lends it self well to a group playing single player quite well. Taking one race each in a GP and cycling the others learning from each others mistakes.

The 1on1 races are actaully fun now with the new AI. They are as agressive as Edge made out and winning on the last bend has a real sense of victory.

Done every crash mode level and I'm working my way through the rest of it.

I can only hope that my PAL save works with my American copy of the game when it plops through the letterbox.

You know on that track on the USA thats called a "Preview Race" or something where you have to do a sports car round the track? Well it was quite hard for me to get gold on that. I've done it though, but it took me ages. And I got nothing for it.

I've been trying like crazy to get gold on that - but you've really put me off now. How can there be no reward for something so arsingly difficult?

The gold medal is the reward. They all add up towards a lovely special car in the end, right?

Plus, it's bloody fun. ;)

I did it on my third attempt with ease. I'm fucking great, me.

It's pretty easy once you stop hitting things. You have to get into the oncoming lane as soon as possible and boost every inch of the way. You don't even need a decent race line, so long as you don't drive headlong into something.

well played my first lot of multiplayer today and it's shit, not the shit, just shit.

someone decided that you don't need any music to race to while playing two player. even though it doesn't have the intense music feature.

you can't use the a button to guide your car after a crash during a race or in crash mode.

and the screen is way too small for a game that moves at this speed, which is odd as Burnout 2 was ok if i remember right.

so basically Live will be the only good multiplayer feature. it's like they thought they'd sabotage the other multiplayer aspects to push people onto Live. cunning bastards.

lazy fucks. there were two xboxs linked in the house as well.

funnily enought thats the track that is in the demo, which made it pretty easy to get a gold on that race.

Well heres my views.

Firstly, lovely presentation but suffers from EA confusion syndrome. Basically it offers you too much at once meaning you dont know which way to go. Not a nice simple interface like the first game where you picked the latest thing and did it. Sad thing is most EA games are like this, offering too much meaning you dont know where to start.

the music, some great tunes, some great bands brilliant. If it was a tony hawks game. The music really does not fit into the racing, your better of with some dance, trance electro, happy hardcore etc for your racing. Punk/ska/rock dont really fit in to well with fast driving games.

If your expecting burnout 2+ prepare to be disappointed. Burnout 2 feels very gritty while burnout 3 seems a little fluffy. Thats the best way to describe it. It also seems a little bit too fast for its own good, meaning its hard to spot traffic. Then its missing little touches like people flashing headlights at you (they seem to have theres on all day) the front cam view seems a tad lower than it should be. Crash mode also feels very fluffy, it doesnt feel like a proper impact and cars dont crash and swearve as well as they did before in the crashes. Theres also too much information overload in races, and not enough sound queues. Oh and before you begin turn the sfx way down otherwise the annoying flame sound will do your head in and drown out the music.

Theres also the annoying habbit of junctions and turns having large vehicals you cant avoid, such as the trams. I miss the preset traffic which you could beat and predict, while its nice this traffic is always going around its own circuit it does mean you cannot judge whats going to happen, junctions are a particular pain as they are always busy, and often hidden by cars when in the in car view.

The game feels so much different to burnout 2, bo2 felt gritty and small and well perfected. BO3 has some lovely ideas but it feels a bit too over polished and smooth at times.

Also music cuts out when entering/leaving menus (except pause) and the dj cuts out too, would have been nicer if it carried across to the next screen at least the first time.

Well thats pretty much the bad of it all. To say im not disappointed would be a lie, but heres the good news. ITS BLOODY GREAT FUN!

Once my music settings were sorted and i found my way around the menus. The dj isnt annoying and offers facts and tips, the racing is fun, but it could have used a mirror rather than a back button. Things do feel a little slidy at the moment but hopefully that'll change with different cars, crash modes are fun, take downs are even better than i could have imagined and work well. Cars deform superbly. And well its great fun. Just be prepared to be a little disappointed if your expecting burnout 2+
