Blobcat
My list of feel good films Hairspray -The only film I've known myself to watch at the cinema and to come out grinning like a loon and happy just to sit and take the world in the rest of the day. Amelie - Always makes me feel fantastic afterwards Whale Rider - Makes me cry but I feel elated at the end. Studio Ghibli films, mainly Kiki's delivery service and Whisper of the Heart (my fav is Laputa btw) - These two mainly because its about the character rather than an 'adventure' they have. Interstella 5555 - Music video movie, its just fricken awesome Little Women (Susan Sarandon) - Again, makes me cry but I love it.

Rudderless
Just watched Anvil last night, and if the end doesn't utterly warm your cockles, then you're probably dead. Orion
Big is probably my favourite 'nice' movie. Things like Trading Places, The Goonies and any daft Will Ferrell comedy usually cheer me up if I'm down.

Hawkeye
Remember the Titans I have that down as my guilty pleasure film. It's as cheesy as hell, but if I even catch so much as a second of it I can't stop watching until the end.

c-cat114
Yes to Amelie, Totoro, Yamadas etc. Good choices. No-ones mentioned the Charlie Brown films? They'd be on my list for comfort films as would Lilo and Stitch and Emperor's New Groove while we're at it. Also SHOCKED at the lack of Pixar films on the list. TBH I'd choose all of them but, for personal reasons* I'll go for Wall-E first and foremost (although Cars pips it to the post of favourite film). *Basically Wall-E was either written as or by complete accident is the film that most pertinently sums up living with autism in a family and seeing life through the eyes of someone who is autistic. As parents if anyone asks me and wifey what it's like to look after someone on the spectrum we always point to Wall-E to get the message across and, for the most part and like little else in life, it gives me some sort of hope that as son boy grows up things won't be too terribly bad, especially if the earth becomes a barren wasteland. Also the first two Patlabor films always make me smile. and, for a change of pace, Seven Samurai is something I'll happily take in too.

BigJamieM
Some good suggestions in this thread. Little Miss Sunshine for me too, as well as Remember the Titans. Im going to throw Punch Drunk Love into the mix as it makes me smile
redbloodcell
I know that quite a few people didn't like it that much, but I love Be Kind Rewind because it feels so warm and fuzzy.
lordcookie
Im going to throw Punch Drunk Love into the mix as it makes me smile I was going to suggest that film but the way it deliberately tries to put the audience on edge with the way it is shot and the sound used means it is hard to describe it as a nice film. But the central romance is fantastic in it - "I'm lookin' at your face and I just wanna smash it. I just wanna fuckin' smash it with a sledgehammer and squeeze it. You're so pretty". Goose
It's a great movie but I especially love the part from the point of the crash onwards. The scene with Hoffman is fantastic.

Graham
I've got a lot of time for Wes Anderson's take on the resolution of quirky relationships, The Royal Tenenbaums always puts a smile on my face. As an extremely guilty pleasure Costner and his baseball field in the corn and playing ball with his father, Field of Dreams. Normally has me in floods of feel good tears. And who can't fall in love with Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas, when I'm feeling very blue it never fails to bring a smile. I can understand what you mean and the points that you and Goose mentioned are great scenes in the movie. I've got a lot of time for Wes Anderson's take on the resolution of quirky relationships, The Royal Tenenbaums always puts a smile on my face. Wes Anderson movies are usually good for this. I caught Bottle Rocket recently and really enjoyed that as well.

I've watched this film so many times in my youth. Great film. The Johnny Depp version on the other hand brings a slight taste of bile into my mouth. They also used ONE midget/dwarf to play ALL the oompa loompas.
