Car Boot Action

Half nine on Saturday night and no Car Boot thread in the Retro folder? What's going on?

Not that I went out today - I was looking at houses. Still - tomorow. There's always tomorrow...

Come on then, you tinkers - what did you find?

I'm selling tomorrow, although the missus will be in charge of the stall early on so I get a nice 15 mins start on the other buyers...have put a few retro tempters on the stall to see who else is on my patch...plus of course the obligatory overpriced Megadrive as idiot-bait.

It's always fun, when you're selling, to have a Mega Drive and some games half-hidden on the floo.r The fellow gamers see it, come racing over...pull it out and...and...their hearts sink when they see a copy of FIFA 95 and Madden 96. :(

Well, i only went to one today. Thought i would get up early as i wasnt out on the lash last night.

Traffic was terrible. Why cant people get a life :(

Not much today

PSX

Fear Effect (absolutely a1 condition) complete £1.50

Koudelka (very good nick) £1.50. Never heard of the game but for the price - what the hell

Alient Trilogy - £1.50

Colony Wars & Colony Wars Vengeance - £1.50 each

Speccy

Dynamite Dan / Frost Byte / Saboteur and CrackDown - £1 for all 4. Not in the best condition

Virtually stuff all today. Loads of megadrives about but left them all.

SNES with 3 pads and 3 games - £10

Boxed GREEN original gameboy with case and game - £5

Boxed Sega Lock-on - £3

That was about it games wise I think.

Did get a nice Mini PC for £2 which will end up as a sat-nav system in my car.

Entex Pac Man 2 handheld - 50p

IMO this is the best LED handheld ever made. I still have my original one from 1981. Well worth getting some batteries for if you haven't already.

The local retro shops got one for sale for £30 - so 50ps a bargain!

I honest think that prize belongs to either Tron or super cobra personally.

Course you could argue the Adventurevision is an led game ;-)

Eitheway, entex stuff rocks.

Ahhh, you and your entex stuff

Anyway, a couple of nice bits today, but first...

The Family beat me to a crate (and I mean a crate) of about 40 Megadrive games, all in lovely condition with a few later titles in there. I had a few in my hand and was talking to the guy selling it, when his wife took the games out of my hand and handed the lot of them over to the bloke... for a tenner. Live and learn, eh?

Ico LE with the art cards, hidden amongst a pile of FIFAs and Army Men was mine for a fiver - most pleased.

3 transparent blue Dreamcast VMUs, still sealed, for £2.

NES Mario 3 for a quid. Couldn't say no.

Really tiny Transformers plane thingy - I think it's a Takara(?) toy, but it's cute and ace. That was a quid too.

Couple of books, CDs, usual stuff.

And then something nice happened. I was chatting with CBK when someone he knew came up and said they'd spotted some SNES stuff. We went off on what we thought would be a wild goose chase, but no... 2 SNESs, and a big old pile of games, split down the middle for a fiver each.

Plus it was a really nice morning out. Bonus!

Hmmm.. sort of. It's dark red and black, comes in a tiny box (about 10cm x 10cm). Looks to be part of a series - there's six of them on the box, including Megatron and Optimus Prime... tbh they're the only ones I recognise.

There was a guy selling what looked to be his 'pride and joy' bits of his collection. The only one I can remember cas a die-cast metal version of something called Hound that he wanted £25 for. The price tag (£80!) was still on it. But lovely as it was, I couldn't justify the expense...

Best find today was a paperback book for 25p, last one I sold of the same title went for well over £100...!!

Games-wise, edited highlights:

- Sega Master System boxed 3D Glasses (now where did I put that Outrun 3D?) £2.50

- Spiderman and Plasma Sword for DC £1 each

- Very nice N64 collection inc 12 near mint boxed games plus the console in a nice branded laptop style carry bag

- Some later issues of Official Dreamcast magazine

plus a mixture of Game Gears, Dreamcast with 13 games + gun, SNES and NES consoles, an Astro Wars, some sealed official NES cleaning kits and very cheap PS1 Dancing Stage games.

Oh and I got over £160 from my stall too! And a bit sunburned....

Yes, that has somewhat restored my faith in people at car boot sales.

It was quite funny actually, as I was only chatting to him at the tyre shop a few days back, and I told him he owed me a favour - I guess that was it.

I had an amazing day today, one of my best - post to follow ;):P

I think these are fairly new releases, the name of the series escapes me at the moment, does the plane have VTOl fans in the wings ?

Super_quincy -What were the 14 MD games + whats on the Game gear cart?

MagicalDrop - What books worth a £100 ??? go on tell us.

213- I don't think Ive played Tron or Super cobra, but would also rate Astro wars as a close second as all time favourite

crikey Magical Drop where the buggery do you live? in all my years of booting I've never managed to bag such stuff

Can't possibly comment, but I was up against at least 3 similar retro buyers at my first boot sale and 4 others at my second. They were all carrying healthy looking bags of goodies too so I guess there were spoils to go round.

Struck up conversations with a couple of them who confirmed they were "sellers first". Bah - I'm fairly certain they all walked past the SMS 3D glasses though, and none of them beat me to that boxed Tropical Fish G&W last week!

Certainly does. And the bloke had two - I bloody knew I should've picked up the pair!

Bloody hell CBSK!

That's a retro collection right there! Amazing.

I think I am going to try and branch out further away from the city centre as the boot I go to in the morning is massive but there are a number of pikeys with winged monkeys competing.

I am trying to cut down my spending a little, as well, only buying things I really want from now on. All my finds came from the morning boots and got nothing from the nomally reliable afternoon boot! :D

Headhunter DC (complete) - £2

Dynasty Warriors 3 PS2 (complete) - £4

Final Fantasy VIII & IX PS both (complete) - £5 the pair

Star Wars: Dark Forces PS (complete) - £3

Rocket Knight Adventures & Dynamite Headdy (complete) - £3 the pair

Gunstar Heroes MD (complete) - 50p

Also spent £20 on Thundercats toys, including the Thunder Tank :D

Does anybody know anything about this game? :D

Well, did ok this weekend - only 2 boot sales - Missus Birthday and visit to see twisted sister came first.

I seemed to buy stuff in big batches.

20 megadrive games (sonic 3, sonic and knuckles etc, all boxed and mint)

Near mint boxed megadrive £15 all in.

15 mint sms games inc star wars, road rash, the hulk (serious trade fodder for the man in japan I'm trading with) £3

Gameboy - 14 B&W gameboy games inc final fantasy, megaman, speedball 2, tetris 2 blah blah blah £16

psone megaman 8

Theme hospital

gameboy and 3 games £9 in total

Pile of nes stuff - £6 (7 games, console, pads - actually works, I'm shocked)

Few other sundry psone games.

Monkey island 1,2 curse, escape on big box pc, fiver lot.

Kodak digital camera - £14 f*cker works as well got zoom the lot.

Pile of cheap DVds - stuff like summer of sam and dirty harry for a pound each, I'll have to play catch up with these on my holiday.

£10 boxed dreamcast and 12 games.

Overall it was a smashing if exhausting weekend.

I did visit costco and picked up for a forum legend a £12 namco joystick thingybob... it's not bad actually...

Koudelka came out when I was working for EB, a few years back now.

I seem to remember that it was set in a Welsh village and was an adventure game with influences like Resi Evil and Silent Hill? I remember we had MASSES of copies in but the game sold like poo. It had its price slashed in the sale to clear it out.
