If you stand on the sidelines shouting "Fight! Fight! Fight!" it's like being back at school.

I was told that the Halo Novel titled First Strike tells alot about what happens in Halo 2?. Is this true?. I am currently reading said book and am enjoying it somewhat.

First Strike continues directly from the ending sequence of the original Halo game.

I'd recommend the book to any Halo fan, it was at least a great holiday read :)

There's a ton of spoiler stuff in there I wont repeat now.

I liked the Library level. It was like a survival mode on any other game - see how long you can last.

Great with a friend on Heroic. (I'm too scared to try Legendary).

As for the monitor, I think he will definitely return. Don't know what his purpose'll be though.

Have you noticed that nearly every FPS has to have some sort of spider type creature that attacks you in huge swarms? And the flamethrower is the only way to deal with them? Or the shotgun?

I didn't mind the library first time through but after that it's just a chore you have to get through, it does teach you how to use the shotgun and make sure you grab any second to reload. Especially on Legendary when that bastard just tells you to wait here and be anihalated and buggers off.

I'm sure 343GS will be back - i only hope this time you get to kick his metal arse. The only thing that makes me want to support him is that the yanks all think he sounds British - i always thought he sounded like a camp american personally.

Beard?

If not you obviously haven't completed it. In which case get out of the Halo 2 folder, you have no right :D

I have completed it!

Halo and the planet explode, master chief and cortana are in a shuttle

So where is guilty spark?

I'm not being deliberately annoying (first time for everything  ) but I honestly thought he blew up along with the rest of it?

Try completing it on Legendary.

The flood are pussies until you get to the higher difficulty levels..

Assault Rifle for the Infectious forms, Shotgun for the Combat/Carrier forms.

The apes: they're Brutes. From reading First Strike, they appear to be totally rock-hard bastards. Think Hunters, but with no weak spot, and movement speed equal to the Master Chief's.

As for 343 Guilty Spark - he has to be back. There's still the link between the humans and the forerunners to solve (i.e. humans = forerunners).

Bet it links in with the Marathon series too.

:P You don't have to complete it on Legendary to get to see 343GS survive - it shows you on all difficulties.

As far as I was aware the only things that change depending on the difficulty were sarge's speach at the beginning, the difficulty and on Legendary the little clip at the end with the marine and the elite hugging.

It's funny someone mentioned that the Library was like a survival mode game. It would've been good if they'd actually used all that repetitive scenery purposefully, slotting it together in randomly-generated TimeSplitters style levels as you go on, keeping going and ramping up the difficulty until you pass through a checkpoint with an arbitrarily low amount of health and ammo, at which point you'd finally reach the Index feeling worn out and going "At last!", so you unquestioningly grab the Index and head off to use it.

Which, let's face it, was what that section was about, making you naively single-minded so that the whole turn-around is more shocking.

Seriously? You all think Legendary was too hard?

Pussies, moma gonna come wipe your ass for ya boy?

Legendary is the bar to judge all other games by, insanely difficult but never impossible, the most perfectly balanced game I have ever encountered.

Now get back to that game and learn fool

No, the section where you have to destroy the reactors. I.e. the bit with the billions of respawning Flood and Convent, and low amount of grenades / rockets.

Only bit on Legendary I got stuck on was the beginning of inside of the Truth and Reconsiliation. I have this morbid desire to save at least one of my marines, which ment I get totally slaughtered :-/

ahhh padawan miss point of marines, walking ammo supply.

short on boom boom juice? twat a marine in the face and Lo, destruction be thine ally

and as for rockets / grenades? ammo room (right turn as you enter engineering) has more then enough to top you up. Then use the wise words of Obi Wan: "Run Luke Run"

Yeah, it took me about a billion tries to get into the gravity lift just before, as I was rushing around trying to nanny my marines and getting my face shot off in the process.

Eventually managed it, then forgot to choose 'save and quit' so had to do it all again.

It's the drive man, the drive. I can sail through to that bit but can't get off the frigging world in time.

There are two ways of doing the warthog race in the PAL version of the game, one a little more forgiving then the other

heres a hint:

50hz / 60hz

Ok, I criticise the game itself then. With normal mode you can get by easily by darting about with any weapon you happen to pick up. With Legendary you actually have to put some thought into what weapons you pick up, and use against certain enemies. You're also forced to use the scenery to gain an advantage. Strategy, man.

As for the flood being less trouble...well, I put that down to being spartan cyborg with a shield. That doesn't make the flood any less of a threat to the human race. Human weapons always seem a lot more effective than convenant ones, which would explain why the convenant always get whacked by the flood.

All of that is pretty irrelevant anyway. Legendary is just more fun to play. IMO.
