Transformers Live Action

At first I wanted to stab my eyes out, but then I thought about it and realized that could actually work, the same way Clone Wars did.

The first time I saw the Clone Wars Artwork I really liked it. I realise I'm probably the only one who did, but hey-ho. That just looks like it's drawn at best by Stephen Hawking holding a set of crayolas in his nostril or at worst a company looking to cash in on the Clone Wars and failing. Totally and utterly.

The main thing that worries me about this new cartoon is that it's rumoured that when they transform they simply spin around like the Tasmanian Devil.

It's a continuing trend towards ever-cheaper, less sophisticated and easier to animate character designs in animation.

This fashionable low-detailed/proportion-distorted/thick-lined stylisation can work in humourous cartoons like "Johnny Bravo", where hugely exaggerated bodies and simplistic character designs are a distant second to silly puns and crazy visual gags. The recent (2003-ish) revival of the "Masters Of The Universe" in cartoon form (a 'serious' action cartoon) was all the better for going with a more traditional 'realistic' style of detail and proportion, albeit with a knock-on of a likely significant increase in the cost of production.

One of my friends went to see a test screening of this in leicester square last night, he's a big transformers fan and said 'They did beyond well they really did. Better than I ever thought it would be.'

Interesting.

Just got in from seeing this in Leicester Square with Bay et al in attendance (which I didn't expect). The UK review embargo is lifted on 1 July.

Quick shout out to all the big fat Transformer geeks in attendance. You really let us down.

Yeah, don't even bother to tell us whether you thought it was any good or not. Keep us in the dark.

You sick fucker.

Saw this at Leicester Square too; total pants really. Spend loads on insane special effects and then don't show them properly. Not to mention that whoever did the action editing needs to be repeatedly kicked in the face. Narrative was unsurprisingly flaky too.

OK, so the transformations look good (Starscream's was ace) but the humanoid forms look absolutely awful. The Decepticons look like barb-wire men.

No such things exist. You're talking out of your mouth! Your crazy mouth!

Interesting.

A friend of mine said the exact same thing to me. Ihad tickets to go but forgot

The friend who said it to me though thought that Superman returns was incredible, so make from that what you will
