Avril Lavigne

second to none

Recommended Posts

Bollocks Ed.

I saw a week and a half ago and her voice has improved massively since I last saw her live at Brixton last year.

Credit where credit's due, her live performances are coming along nicely.

Glad to hear it. All I've heard is a recording from last year that I bought from iTunes, and her voice wasn't brilliant. If it's better now then I stand corrected!

Avril Lavigne = soft rock.

Reminds me of Heart and crap like that.

It aint even soft-rock though. Its soft-punk. Its the type of thing you see 12-year-old "moshers" queuing up to buy in woolworths. The girl fills a niche in the market, but shes punk-lite as far as I'm concerened. IMO anyway... :)

I think your definition of punk is different than mine.

Her music is soft-rock. Or pop-rock.

It's not remotely punk, although she and her legions of bed-wetting fans might think otherwise.

Nah, Bon Jovi are soft rock. She's soft-corporate-punk.

I fail to see how you could even possibly call it punk, although I'm sure her marketing men do to get the skater kiddie vote.

Her musics far from being punk, if Avrils punk then I guess Alanis Morrisette is punk too! :o

You all know she started out as a country & western singer don't you?

She sold sod all albums though so her record label gave her an ultimatum: pop rock or the sack!

I didn't know that - that's aces :o

Also:

Wow.

Nice first post you've got there :(

well i would have anyway when i was at school. B)

Up until Grade 11 anyway

I think she needs to loose the 'dark eyes' style, as I find it rather pointless. I won't start up about fixing her music again...

  • 2 weeks later...

levigne :

label controlled "catch all" puppet offering safe, radio friendly ball less pop music, strangely disguised in some pseudo off the shelf "pop punk" look designed to be sold to clueless prepubescent girls, spotty adolescent ten males and paedophiles.

*see "busted" for similar description
