I see a couple of really organised groups with little radios patrolling the boots for stuff. I also notice guys that don't look like the sort that buy games (fat market trader types) As well as a few buyers that look like internet forum member types who are looking for stuff because of threads like this. The competition is up this year for sure. That's perhaps why its so poor.

Anyway, still manages to get

2 GBC, 2 GBA carts ans a link cable bundle for £7

N64 powerpack £1

Dreamcast, Boxed, two controllers, VM and 8 boxed games and assorted demos £15

Sonic 3 £2

Megadrive loose but included 6 button controller £5

and a few non gaming bits.

Yeah, right.

I laugh at your "misfortune"

Git!

Actually, reading that back it does seem a little bit of a contradiction. It just doesn't seem like I got much compared to what I'm used to this time of year I guess.

Oops!

Should have bought them, they do 5-10 quid depending on the title ;-)

ha, in hindsight maybe i should, he had loads!

re- boot sales in general, they aint what they used to be!!

what did make me laugh was a group of chavs walking round and one of them said "i know all about games and what they are worth"

oh, shut up

while i remember, the stall i got Metal Gear Solid from was 50p "as there was a disc missing" Having never owned it can anyone confirm? It had 2 discs and a Silent Hill Demo (but no instructions)

Yep - 2 disks is correct.

Went to two of my regular ones this morning, but in one there was just a man walking his dog, and there were a bunch of horses at the other  I guess I should have phoned ahead to check they were on...

Hi All

Boot sales this year are CRAP.

Too many pikeys around buying all kinds of shit this morning ;) So, this afternoon for a change decided to drive off into the villages in the middle of no-where.

No pikeys, no traders, no scum, no familys of 10 with walkie-talkies - it was bliss, although I didn't find much. It was just good for a change, not having to rush around etc. Hardly saw anything but the atmosphere was nice and slow...

Got the following over the day:

SNES Starwing boxset (complete - really nice condition) with 7 games:

Starwing (included in set)

UltraMan (loose)

Pugsleys Scavenger Hunt (loose)

Mario Kart (loose)

Mortal Kombat (loose)

Street Fighter 2 (loose)

T2 (loose)

- £20 the lot

Nintendo 64 (loose)

Goldeneye (loose)

Diddy Kong Racing (loose)

Lylat Wars (loose)

Fifa (loose)

Official Carrycase

- £5 the lot

PS1

Jimmy White 2

Overboard!

Popstar Makier

Crash 2 (no cover)

X-Men Vs Street Fighter

Rayman

Ape Escape

£1 each

PC

Broken Sword

Broken Sword 2

£1 each

SNES console + 2 pads + cables (loose)

Metroid (loose)

Smash TV (loose)

BOB (loose)

Ghoul Patrol (loose)

Super Mario World (loose)

Doom (loose)

Out To Lunch (loose)

Zool (loose)

UltraMan (loose)

Sensible Soccer (loose)

Donkey Kong Country (loose)

Scope 6 (just cart)

Street Fighter 2 Turbo (loose)

Super Strike Gunner (loose)

- £15 the lot

Other Things

Massive Lego Mindstorms - all boxed up lovely condition

- £10, another regular booter saw me nearly wet myself when I saw this (he was about to buy it) and said "go on mate you have it", £10 well spent indeed. This would never happen when the pikeys are around.

That was my lot for the day, I was glad to chill out and leave all the stress behind.

Regards

Only went to 2 today,  not too much stuff.  What is going on with car boots this year?

They are shit this year that is whats happening... I often moan (like today I got fuck all, compared to usual) In the back of my mind is always the fact that I have about 10 good boot sales, week in week out - within easy travel distance. Most of the people here would be glad of mine (and others) weekly finds.

Got a phillips CDi - the all in one model 360 - have a look here

Nice find 213 - never seen one of those, so I will add that to my long list of never seen things at a boot sale... Coleco Vision, Vectrex, Radiant Silvergun...

People do seem to be wising up to the retro scene, unfortunately. I think it's because of these shows like 'Car Boot Challenge' and 'Bargain Hunters' they have. There seem to be less consoles/games around more people looking for them.

Plus...I have noticed that there is masses and masses of Playstation stuff now. I guess we're starting to reach the point where the SEGAs and Nintendos have all been sold?

I have already noticed far less SNES' and NES' than I have been used to seeing over the past few years.

I also saw some old bloke wandering around with a copy of Panzer Dragoon II, telling his friend that he'd heard it was worth £100. Sure, he had the wrong game BUt he's picked up word of Saga from somewhere.

I hope things pick up but so far it's been a little disappointing.

Guest Atari7800man

Went to a couple of boots. Nothing but a Vectrex for £2 no games though, they were sold last time the boot was on which I missed !

Anyone seen an Atari Jaguar at a Boot ? EB had stacks of them in a clear out, I am wondering where they all have gone to...

I was at a Car Boot a few weeks ago and some dodgy pikey guy tried to kick off with me because I beat him to a boxed 32X.

He called me a prick, and said to his (equally dodgy) mate, see this arse here - this is whats happening now, everyone's jumping on the bandwagon and buying all the Megadrive's.

Now, the voice in my head wanted to scream 'It's a Sega 32X you stupid dole cheating scum, and I've been collecting games for 6 years and running a retro website for nearly 4 years so f**k off'. Unfortunately my mouth only managed 'sorry mate, better luck next time'. He was much bigger than me though, and had a ponytail.

One small carboot - as with everybody else, little gaming stuff

I got unboxed Spyro for GBA - £4

and a Star Wars Tshirt for - £1

and that was it

I'm finding the prices are getting up to Gamestation levels a lot of the time now.

I have been wondering for a while where all the Jag stuff that Game had a couple of years ago has gone to.

The odd game appears in 2nd hand shops and there is a fair bit on ebay. But I've never seen a single thing at a car boot relating to the Jag.

I was at a Car Boot a few weeks ago and some dodgy pikey guy tried to kick off with me because I beat him to a boxed 32X.

Every few weeks I see this old pikey family and the old girl is a nightmare.

She might be looking at 1 particular game, and you pickup something else she hasn't

a ) seen

b ) made an offer on

c ) got a clue what is it

And she goes mad saying "that's mine, that's mine - I was going to buy that"

Yeah right bitch you can fuck off, and you more or less have to use them words, otherwise she doesn't understand.

Like months back, she was looking at a crappy Gameboy Advance and it wasn't in very good condition and was over-priced. The seller then puts out another Gameboy (Color this time) with a shitload of loose games - I asked how much £10 was the answer, I bought it. The old girl was going mad, and I said something along the lines of "oh, didn't you want that" and walked off with it!

Result :D

Ah, but you're pikey reselling scum too, so you're no better than the other pikies. :D

I think calling me 'pikey reselling scum' is a bit harsh mate.

I work full time, and run my website as a hobby and a way increase my own games collection. It's a legitimate business, that I pay tax on, and if it earns me a few beer tokens for the weekend, that's great.

I can't say I've ever threatened someone, simply because they beat me to a console or the likes. Car boot sales are a free for all that's part of the fun, sometimes you find something decent, most times you don't.

I'm a car boot vulture, they're pikey scum, I know my stuff, CBK knows his stuff, they don't, there's a major difference ;-)
