Try and understand this. The vast majority of people in the West don't care about Japanese robot games. Can't you get that through your head? They're ignored in the press here because people simply don't want to read about them. It's not a matter of journalistic integrity. Would you expect to see a twenty page spread on E3 in The Guardian? Read a Japanese magazine if you want your niche catered for.

This is just extremism in the other direction.

If we chose what to play and discuss based on what sells UK mags, we'd see a fuck of a lot of wrestling threads.

If you're not interested in what he's got to say then don't read it. Why on earth do you feel the need to write post after post slagging the guy off?

Obviously they don't like each other, and there's nothing like a reet good argument about bollocks.

Unless as i suspect its because you're all timid and powerless in real life.

And now you've started.

I actually quite enjoyed the discussion of theme and genre we were having.

The bottom line is guys that the vast majority of you come across as being mouthy fucking dickheads who are all quite happy to slag people off from safe behind your keyboards.

How did you even manage to type that without having your brain seize up from hypocritical stupidity overload?

One of the few reasons i bother coming to this forum anymore is to read the information on mecha that Cacophanus shares.

Oh, Cacophonous. For shame.

I know next to nothing about the "genre" and the views of someone so passionate about them is a great source of information. Unfortunately for reasons only known to himself he continues to come here instead of sharing his knowledge with people who are interested.

Its not a crime for somene to be either passionate about something or to have their own opinions you know.

Behind our keyboards BECAUSE:

1. We're at work.

2. We don't live near that person (for instance, in JAPAN).

3. This is a discussion forum.

Are you really that narrow-minded? Strider worked with Cacophanus (well, the same office), and has no "fear" of him. I'd say whatever I say here to him. He's a blabbering fool.

It's the way in which he "shares" his views.

We AREN'T interested, but he spouts all this shit in an Edge thread, when we don't ask him to, and there certainly isn't any need to. So because we're "slagging" him off (we're just disproving his points, and telling him he's wrong, what's wrong with that), that means we're powerless? What the heck does power have to do with anything?

No, it's not a crime. But when their points are invalid, trivial, and pointless, then it's irritating to everyone who wants to talk about the topic. He's saying we're mindless sheep because we like a certain game, it's not illegal for us to have opinions, so he should perhaps piss off. He's one big contradiction.

As for Western games reporters ignoring and/or poorly covering thousands of games on the fact they contain mecha is antagonistic to the priniciples of journalism.

Hentai games are covered in some depth over on something awful, actually.

But yes, you're right, both them and dating sims are cruelly swept under the carpet by a sheep-like western gaming press. And those mah yong games? every one's a fucking winner!

Duncan, poster boy of the middle-core.

Are you seriously putting those genres in the same bracket?

Are you actually physically incapable of acknowledging the existence of any game that doesn't star a wrestling car that shoots tits?

It's fine for Cacky to share stuff in *threads explicitly about Mecha*.

This wasn't.

Incidentally, the "I'm sure if you were to meet Cacophanus in real life you wouldn't say half the shite that you're coming out with here." is astonishingly close to something an argumentative tosser said in a thread about 3 months ago...

nobody is slagging of Cacophanus anyway. unless by slagging off you mean, having a different opinion, or disagreeing with him. infact considering the arrogant and pompous nature of the majority of his posts, people here have shown a great deal of restraint.

I suggest you read the first few pages of the thread then where you'll find various people having a dig at him with the "Rolling Eyes" remarks and comments about "mechies" etc. If thats not having a go then what is?

I'm not implying that you should have any fear of him. I've never met him, spoke to him and as far as i can remember even conversed with him online so how should i know. What i am saying is that any Small Man with a Big Mouth can slag people off online.

If you really would say whatever you say here in real life to people then well done. You've managed to be just as rude and obnoxious as you appear online. Congratulations.

Tonma, knob off back to NTSCUK and read Cacophanus posts there instead. It's very obvious that you and cacky are aquainted. While your posts may in your own mind come accross as the voice of reason against the oh so unfairly picked on Cacky. They don't.

Why, thank you, Rob! i'm sure that's supposed to be in some way insulting, but it's gone way over my head! i mean, I thought casual and hardcore were tragic enough labels, but someone saw fit to invent a third one? They need to have a wank.

no, i'm not 'seriously putting those genres into the same bracket'. But you cannot deny that they are very specialist genres with a defined audience. As do mecha games funnily enough. And I don't see why anyone should feel belittled simply because they don't wish to sample the 'delights' of any or all of these genres. I don't scream bloody murder at people who didn't buy, say, In Memoriam, or who aren't l33t enough to have bought Katamari Damacy on it's day of release because it's THEIR DECISION WHAT THEY WISH TO PLAY and their decision whic gaming avenues that they wish to explore. You're all wanking on about why a fucking games magazine doesn't cover every fucking game in existence, when whe have this amazing thing called the internet choc full of information about every game under the sun. you should try it some time!

As for your last point - my advice is to stay off the drugs. they're making you talk gibberish.

Seriously Tonma, don't just walk into this thread and start having a go at everyone unless you've seen the whole picture.

If you actually read the thread, okay there are jokes made about highlighting things in Red but thats been brought on by Cacophanus himself and I'm pretty sure he sees the funny side of that himself, he makes a comment about the Custom Robo score and its left alone and everyone is discussing the issue, all is well.

Then, as soon as some comments are made about trigger happy and Steven Poole says something Cacophanus can't help but try and aggrivate people.

Enough of the hearty and sycophantic back-slapping, it's cringeworthy. Mr. Poole has only talked big thus far.

He then brings up the Custom Robo article again to pick needless 'you obviously don't know what you're talking about, unlike me' comments out.

...and the Custom Robo review, score is right but the review makes a reference to Armored Core. Why? Custom Robo is and always was another Virtual On clone. Nice use of the incorrect spelling of mecha though ::rollseyes::

I too think its good that he is so enthusiastic about this but why the constant one upmanship, its like he's only so knowledgeable so that he can rub peoples faces in it, and not just for the love of it.
