I've just finished a hardtech tune for my next mix CD, seeing as i can't upload, you'll have to hear it on that.

Also, Can i recommoned the Korg Legacy?.

Its now the VST best synth out there, even if the Wavestation has no resonance settings.

Oh Duncan I downloaded that Reason set, I don't think the organs sound that great yet, I was hoping for an 'evervything in its right place' sort of richness at 100 meg

really? I didn't think it was that bad. The rhodes one is pretty good, I thought. Maybe using a TEEEENY bit of reverb to add some life. I think they're a bit dry on purpose.

I would LOVE a good sounding rhodes. I was going to buy a synth that sounded like one, I can't remember the name, but it was red. I *almost* bought it in Leeds a while back, but it was way too expensive to justify it.

A vintage Rhodes will cost much less than an Electro.

And you could probably get one a little cheaper than this.

I assume you pirated it, that thing is the most expensive program ever and it's on like 10 disks ;)

£300 well spent for the four disks in the XL version. And it's worth every damn penny. I resent your Yarrcusations.

Edit: though with them asking for another £165 from me to upgrade to version 2, I was tempted. The cads!

I'm new to all this home recording lark, having just inherited our singer's old G3 Mac, but already it's incredibly addictive.

All I've been doing so far is recording multiple guitar and bass tracks and vocal ideas in Logic, then doing a bit of comp'ing, messing around with plug ins etc. I haven't even looked into Reason or anything yet.

I know this won't be a revelation to most of you, but being able to get down an idea quickly and easily is certainly one to me. No more forgotten riffs!

I plugged my really old guitar into my remote 25 audio and found out that it crackles like fuck. It made me sad - I had even got rid of the latency! ;)

I get a ridiculous amount of hum from my Strat. I should have gone the extra mile and got noiseless pickups when I upgraded it. When we recorded our album in March I had to play by candle light, as the electric lighting really made it noisy!

Guitarist/Engineers of the world, unite - ditch those CRTs! Flatpanels are the way to go for noiseless recording (unless you go out and buy a Variax, like me ;))

Oh, it's plugging into my laptop - it's just the the guitar has degraded to the point where I'm fucking about with the leads so much it's not worth it. Stoopid thing.

Take the controls off, slather every orifice leading to the innards with switch cleaner, wait a minute, then roger it with the 1/4'' jack. And pray to the deity of your choice.

Trust me, it can be a big help - switch cleaner is basically just acetone, which evaporates very quickly leaving your electrics nice and clean. Taking the tops off your controls will expose a route into the pots, which the little nozzle on a can of switch cleaner will be able to spray into; spraying into the jack slot will take care of the connection there. If the jack feels loose and crackles when you jiggle it, take the nut off the outside of it and pull it out; there's a flimsy piece of metal which makes contact with the inner core of your 1/4'' lead that you can adjust to make the connection more solid.

Not quite what I was expecting :D

Do you write music down then? I don't know of many people that can do that

Why weren't you expecting me to write something this? I am confused... :)

I sang and played the trumpet (classically okay and jazz not so okay), but I couldn't play the piano. So I couldn't really compose harmony without being able to demo it. I can write music by hand though, but I use computer programs like Sibelius to play it back to me.
