I've changed the break to the roachclip break, I think it grooves a bit better. It's just roughly bunged in there at the moment, but I'll do a bit more work on it

That sounds great :( what do you sequence everything in? It sounds like it could be Reason... no offence intended if it's actually expensive equipment. :( Which vocoder is that?

It's all sequenced in Acid4. I might investigate a demo of reason to se if that can give me what I'm after, I sometimes wish I had a bit more control over things.

As it stands it's stuff recorded out of my Novation synth, or sampled stuff. I also like using fruity loops to make loops which I take into acid. The vocoder is part of my synth, I took it to my friends house when I first got it, and plugged it into his massive keyboard amp. We set it up by the window, and shouted insults at people standing at the bus stop with this demonic robot voice.

With Reason you can tweak just about everything and automate it, and if certain controls don't even exist you can turn the view of the seperates to the back and wire in a new control with the 'rewire' function :( Which Novation synth is that that has the vocoder built in?

It's a Novation K-station, I've been very pleased with it, it's taught me so much about synths, and about sound as well

I think that I'll check out reason, I like the sound of beaing able to change absolutely everything. In Acid you can only automate certain parameters on certain effects, which is fine as far as it goes, but I often want a bit more fine control

Can we hear any more of your band? I liked your version, but i'm not a big fan of Seal songs :( I'll try to catch your gig in Margate, I live in Whitstable :(

What does everyone think of the other 2 tracks?

I'm looking for opinions, the only exposure we ever got was play in 1 shop and airplay on Radio Kent. We got signing offers but the founder of the group didn't think it was the right time yet. :( In retrospect he was right as 2 of the band members were just finishing Uni but now the band is split up :( I'm going to join forces with Juria for her comeback though muhahaha

Cool! Thanks very much! I love it when people say they like that one, band resisted doing that song so much and I really had to fight them to do it!

I can guess why... but I loved the original. I was excited when the lyrics came, and then the chorus... dot dot dot. It's a nice "cover" because the music is so different. Huge thumbs up from me.

That's what our keyboard player uses, along with an E-MU. You can hear it in the mid-section of Electric Superhighway, one of the songs on our site.

Here it is at a festival in Germany, atop the clever metal tube construction that our bass player made him:

I'm considering getting one myself, as they're so small and user-friendly.

This track serves as a harsh reminder to get the right tools for the job; I put it together using a fairly shitty set of headphones and when I was finished I deleted the samples used so as to seal the whole thing up. Then when I heard it through a better set of cans I realised there's way, way too much emphasis on the high frequencies. It makes the drumbeats painfully brittle, but still, that's why I like to delete the components once I'm done. I've come to quite like it as it is, though it does sound a lot better through a pair of Alba headphones or equivalent. It's for the poor people!

Has he got a tic?

Geddit?

It's ok, i've still got me coat on. *leaves*

You can come back in now Suizid, it wasn't that bad. Tea?

Anyway, I'm rather excited because I'm inheriting our singer's old G3 at the weekend. Not particularly exciting in itself, but it's got all the music software on it I need to finally start doing some home recording.

The way we work is that our singer usually writes a song, or sketch of a song, on his Mac, bungs us all CDs, and we then work on it in rehearsal. Often he comes up with a finished song, so we just learn it and had little bits of our own.

What I've found is that I've got about 10 song ideas in my head, with riffs etc, but mostly I've got a feel or specific drum pattern in mind. I therefore find it quite hard to get my idea across in rehearsals, and I'm looking forward to just laying down some simple drum tracks and vocal lines so that I can say "Here, this is what I meant".

Guys, why don't you fill up your ID3 tags properly?! I've got a playlist full of great remixes and original music and I don't know who to compliment!

Who did the Ice Ice Baby remix? It's ace! I'm going to put that on a mix CD for someone.
