Getting 80kb/s here, though I'll probably end up with a fake one. It does say "not fake!" though, as if that's any guarantee. From Mininova by the way, even though it's probably using the same trackers.

Won't be able to listen to tonight since my parrot needs some sleep.

Of course - would never have even known about it if it weren't for you.

The whole album is just incredible. At a stretch I'd say the title track is my favourite right now but it's obviously way too early to say. Will post more detailed impressions later.

I would make a yousendit for you, horribleman, but I've never done one before and don't even know how to make a cd out of these m4a files.

Can't find any lyrics just yet (apart from Vicarious posted earlier - and you're right - reading them in full they're a lot better) but will keep a look out.

I hope he's not taking the piss out of Hartlepool with all that 'monkey killing' stuff on Right in Two. Definately going to need the lyrics for this album, they seem a lot harder to make out than on the previous ones.

Don't worry, Halo, you helped a lot just by saying that it was out there.

A review by Kabir of Toolshed.down if anyone's interested: http://toolshed.down.net/news/tales/10kdaysprereview.html

If everyone who wants a piece registers their interest here, I'll sort them out with the standout tracks. x

(Horribleman, you're on the list).

Don't go to too much trouble, I'll be able to DL the lot tonight.

I would like to hear another song apart from the single though today :P

I have benefited from Bastion's generosity. I’m reciprocating by sharing the love, PM if you want some.

I'm not massively impressed either, but one listen's hardly enough with them. Not much stood out for me.. Probably change my tune later after it's sunk in a bit.

I'm hoping for the same but I think Vicarious is going to remain my favourite track on the album. It just doesn't rock and that's a big deal to me. It just never really gets going and when it does I find it reminiscent of bands I wouldn't have associated Tool with at all. I found myself thinking Pearl Jam at one moment. I think it's too slow and too "rock" for me. Too soundscape-y or just not very clever or interesting IMO, Tool records are supposed to clever and interesting.

I have been disappointed in every Tool album I have ever bought after the first play. It always takes me time to settle into them, and then they get their hooks in . That said, I did like this quite a bit first time through. Vicarious is my favourite so far, maybe because I've listened to it the most. I like Right in Two and The Pot the too, with Intension close behind.

I think that in time I'll like all the tracks, there's not one I have taken a dislike to. It's almost certainly up there with the rest of their albums in terms of quality.

It's not 'all' a bit sluggish: Vicarious, Jambi, and The Pot are all fast-paced, destined-to-be-singles romps.

Tool don't do singles. And if they do start now it'll just be another change they shouldn't be making.

EDIT: I'm listening to it right now and have done for a decent amount of the afternoon, still not working out. Massive Bah. I really don't like the vocals on the album, I guess he's getting old and doesn't want to push his voice so much anymore. I noted when I saw APC the first time that he didn't do any screams in Judith and that when Tool played Ticks and Leeches he didn't do any there either, just sang it in the kind of hoarse vocal he seems to be using alot now with alot of distortion.

I'm so disappointed, it's like NIN's album last year, let down of the year.

Most of it IS sluggish and would be more suited to an APC B-Sides album. That's what it sounds like to me. There's next to nothing with the power of their previous output here and when they do attain some of the beauty of their more tender moments they seem to crowd it with additional guitars and effects. There are flashes of what they're capable of but I'm not able to embrace it entirely and I hate it. Right In Two so nearly makes it and perhaps I need more time but ultimately it doesn't make it, imagine if the chorus at 3.38 hit like the chorus in Eulogy and I think that's a decent way of expressing what I want the album to do.

Easiest way to change these m4a's to mp3/wma preserving the quality as much as poss?

I did it in iTunes. Set your import options to a high bit rate MP3 and then convert selection to MP3.

I don't know how else you would do it, hope that helps.
