Now - pinch of salt - but this thread reminded me that Kerraig formerly of this parish posted about MJK punching a girl in the face on a tour bus. It doesn't prove or disprove anything, it just stuck in my head from 4 years ago.

That's not evidence, do you believe everything you read online?  These allegations came to nothing and you'd think if there was anything substantial to them, it would have come out with the way the world has changed over the last few years.

It seems to be an open secret. There was references to it on groupie forums back in the day. 

 

You are very naive if you really think that everyone that has been an abuser will have their comeuppance because of the way things are 'these days'. 

 

I'm not saying it's an open and shut case, but it doesn't really look great.

Who's going and to which ones?  I'll be at the Manchester show and I can't wait!!  I've seen them twice before (Manchester on the 10,000 Days tour and Download 2019) and it's been an incredible experience both times.

I’m going to Birmingham, it’ll be the 4th time I’ve seen them - Ozzfest (?) at Milton Keynes in 2001, then Wembley and Brixton on the 10,000 Days tour. Epic each time, although probably fair to say the Ozzfest crowd didn’t really know what to make of them.

both nights at the o2, got second row seats for night #2 and front block but nearer the middle for night #1

 

skipped them on the 10,000 days tour as honestly didn't think it would be this long between proper indoor shows (although did see them at lollapalooza in chicago in 2009 I think?)

 

last indoor tool show I went to was brixton in 2002 which is a long long time ago now.....

I remember that show, on the Lateralus tour if I recall. 
 

I’m seeing them on the Monday, last time I see them was with Mastodon at Wembley and I didn’t enjoy the sound in the arena at all.

When I saw them live on the 10,000 days tour I wasn't really impressed. Actually every band I've seen (not loads) at Hammersmith have been disappointing.

That Manchester show was amazing. Shout out to the guy behind me* who was so in to it, three notes in to every song he was like "IT'S THE PATIENT!!!" etc. and was practically in tears the whole night.

I saw them in Birmingham, epic is a pretty good description. I could listen to Justin’s bass sound all day.

 

My mate has been a fan since Lateralus but has never been able to see them live, so he was quite emotional for a lot of it.

 

Early on in the show Maynard said something along the lines of ‘Hello Birmingham! You’re much more lively than Manchester. Fuck those guys, eh?’

Just got in from tonight's show at the O2 Arena in London. 

 

Fantastic show in spite of having the world’s worst people in the row behind us (chatting utter shit at top volume all the way through, kicking the seat backs, spilling their drinks over us, they were just awful).

 

 

If anyone's going tomorrow night you should be in for a treat.

Tool were excellent last night. Fantastic visuals and they pulled out some of the classics, which still sound utterly monstrous.

 

We had a few spare seats where we were so wasn’t overly crowded. In fairness, the chaps next to us apologised in advance for the vigorous gesticulation and air drumming throughout the set.

I think Invincible was my gateway into the album. Then Pneuma - if you haven’t seen the Danny Carey live drumcam of him performing Pneuma on YouTube, please do, it’s extraordinary. Love it all now.

Guy's a creepy cunt. Sad but not surprising. Still listen to them now and again, but now I am not in that phase of 'musicians are god' I don't idolise any of them.

 

It's ok to listen to musicians you grew up on while also admitting they are problematic. After all, being problematic was the norm. It's not ok, but you can't really listen to much music without listening to people who abuse their power and influence.

special passes, but they were handed out from his all male security staff.
2. The security staff checks IDs. If you are not of age, you do not get to go backstage. 17, though "legal" in some
states, does not make the cut. Full stop.
• 3. Passes for Maynard are different than the normal backstage pass for the show. A couple examples I can think
of (and one I own that I received personally when they were out of normal ones) has a [collage of women in KISS
makeup sucking dick or other sexual acts.]

picture of Maynard in Roman garb that said "Have you serviced your gladiator today?" or something similar.
There are no illusions about what you are there for.
4. All backstage people are brought backstage to 1 or 2 rooms. Sometimes the Maynard groupies are brought to
a separate room. It's never 1 woman alone. The smallest group I saw was 5 or 6 women, but could be up to 20.
Maynard makes an appearance in the room, might make some chitchat, and then leaves. His security staff will
then approach whichever 1 or 2 women that Maynard has selected for the night and tell them that Maynard
would like them to come back to the bus or the hotel for the night.
5. Both experiences recounted to me, from two women who do not know each other, Maynard was caring, slow
and gentle. There was no pressure. He is interested in anal as you would assume, but did not with the one
because she never had. Again, no pressure. This act ended up happening later when she was one of his regulars
in LA.
6. After the act, both women had nothing but good things to say about him and about the security staff (Making
sure they were OK to leave the area and had some transportation as they left).
So you take those 2 accounts, and also what I saw happen in general with the process other times backstage, make the
accusers account incredibly hard to believe. For the guy down below in the thread who's girlfriend was weirded out for
not letting her BF backstage with her, I hope you understand by now that Maynard does not and will not meet normal
Tool fans. Never. Has he appeared at any of the Tool clinics? No. Has he ever appeared at any of the APC VIP events?
No. I only met him once backstage and he was not thrilled with my concert total. Actually told me that I shouldn't see
them that many times. The meeting only happened because I was in with a group of family for another person on the
crew. I haven't been backstage since he's been married, so I don't know if his groupie whoring has continued. I don't
think he should be demonized for this behavior. Yeah it sucks that he doesn't want to meet the casual fan to have them
gush over his music, but it doesn't make me want to listen to them less.
