Bocchi Rock, dismiss this as another moe anime but surprisingly it captures social anxiety so well. It's scary how accurate it is, and yeah I was cringing hard when I was flashing back to my own similar experiences.

I’m not sure where the anime is up to but Spy X Family stays at a really high level of quality, it’s funny and charming.

I've just signed up for a Crunchy roll trial having been out of the anime scene for a while.

Really looking forward to watching this one.

Watched and loved CYBER CITY OEDO 808 over the past three nights. Just gorgeous 90s anime with a pure 80s vibe, dripping in pure cool. Really cared about the characters, for the short time we spend with them, and the world-building overall was sublime.

Anything else out there like it? Probably not, eh?

Yoshiaki Kawajiri always brings the goods. Looks up his work, stuff like Ninja Scroll and Wicked City.

Most anime nowadays doesn't interest me, but Megalobox was pretty great stuff. 80's vibe, for sure.

The new anime is packed crazy with decent looking shows. I've added 25 new ones from Crunchyroll alone and its still early in the season! My other site list has at least 10, don't think there's time in the day to watch them all 🤣

Any love for the new Trigun anime? It's pure eye bleach and I think they've got the tone right. I'm less impressed that they've replaced Milly with essentially a late-70s Robert de Niro character knock-off called...

Let me check my notes...

...

Roberto de Diro.

Just watched the first ep of the new show.

It looks much better than I've come to expect from 3D anime. I suspect some of the scenes must have been motion-captured, it looks so damn smooth.

In the original anime the nature of the world and the population's relationship with "lost technology" was only slowly revealed over the course of the series, so it's interesting that they've front-loaded the backstory this time around. The very first scene explains the seedships, Vash & Knives, so the world is going to be a little less mysterious but I suppose the origin story trope is pretty tired these days.

Gutted that they seem to have dropped Milly and made Meryl the kouhai this time around. Hopefully we still get some version of Wolfwood, and the Gung-Ho Guns.

It's a strong first episode, different but familiar, with the Humanoid Typhoon goofing off while trying to save the town from a comically reckless villain.

I don't think it's a tired trope to purposefully leave some mystery in your story. It's an important narrative device.

Which modern anime writers seem to be incapable of understanding these days, with things sometimes just dropped on you in a "lore" dump in case a random surprise raises their viewers' virgin heart pressure too much.

I think they just frontloaded all the backstory because it's from a near thirty year old anime whose audience will include a lot of people who watched the original, so why waste time on a mystery we know the answer to?

Wolfwood is definitely in there, he's been in all the promotional material.

Just finished watching Cowboy Bebop for probably the 6th time, at least. First time my 10 year old son watched it and it's the first TV show that's made him cry and I mean really cry. As ever, the ending leaves me in a mess.

I'm so glad they never made another series and ruined this perfect programme. It's easily my most watched and most favourite show of all time.

25 years old, this year. How time flies...

Just cheering him up now with some classic British Trap Door. Oh globbits!

I really like the original trigun anime hope they don't ruin it this time but I'd like to see what they do with the new one.

I really liked the rock intro to the original as well, who knows what they'll go with this time.

It’s more the fact that the same four things are nominated in every fucking category. I understand if occasionally there is something so amazing that it gets nominated across all of them, but the shite most recent season of attack on Titan is not some once in a generation masterpiece. It definitely does not deserve to be nominated in every single category.

At that point, you may as well have one category and just let people choose between AOT, Ranking of Kings, Cyberpunk and Spy X Family. It becomes a game where you’re not thinking about the actual category, like whether this actually has the best opening theme, you’re just voting for the thing you like when you see it because it’s only got nominated in two categories.

How long has the new JoJo episodes been out and how the hell did I not know? Netflix has really dropped the ball promoting this.

Yeah happened to me in when the first part dropped which I didn't know.

As for Trigun , it's passable at the moment. I  thought it was receiving the FMA Brotherhood treatment but its something together new which is odd.

Anyway it's all about Vinland Saga!!

I watched the 3 available episodes of trigun stampede, I'm not convinced.

It's like someone watched the original said I can do this but better by just upping everything.  Vash should be stupider and act meeker, dialogue should be cheesier etc.  It's not creatively adding anything at all.

I keep thinking it's because modern anime is made by a lot of people who have only ever spent their life watching other anime.

Anime from previous generations (especially the 80s and 90s) drew inspiration from all sorts of other media, and you can see it quite clearly in them.

This isn't just an old man shouts at clouds thing as this is genuinely what seems to be happening.
