I'm doing Bleach & Chainsaw Man this season, It takes me ages to get through stuff these days so I've left Gundam (Although I'll binge it when everything else is done).

Although one of the characters introduced in the 2nd Episode of Chainsaw Man got on my fucking wick so I can see me dropping that soon.

I've never watched Urusei Yatsura before, as I was watching Ranma 1/2 back in those days so I may give that a try just to see why people like it.

So much Anime such little time.

Urusei Yatsura is a gem, I highly recommend it but not sure how different this is from the orignal. But it's Rumiko Takahashi so I approve regardless.

For me Mob and Spy are top of the list, just find them genuinely funny. I read Chainsaw Man and I admit I was put off with the CG but it did grow on me but it's just dumb action but I have read a few volumes of the Manga so like to see how faithful it be.

One Piece Film Red is fantastic. Really, really enjoyed this. If you're a One Piece fan, get to a cinema showing this. Totally worth it.

One Piece Official Youtube Channel has posted the first 7 and a half minutes online as a preview -

Looks like Disney+ is starting to add anime. Just a bit right now. The first few eps some Black Rock Shooter thing and all of the main Bleach series, plus the first few eps of a new series.

They've been up for a while.

Bleach TYBW is 16.30pm each week just a few hours after the original broadcast and is up-to-date Disney + paid serious money for the rights.

Not sure about BRS as it didn't interest me personally.

What does interest me is why the Disney app has such terrible coloured subs when it comes to the OG bleach?

So much better on my mobile with the black boxes, but it's a ball ache for me to stream to my TV via the phone.

One Piece Film Red was so good, probably the best anime series spinoff movie I've ever seen, certainly right up there with the second MHA movie.

Haven't watched OP since Fish-Man Island Saga, can I still watch the movie?

Absolutely, it’s pretty standalone. Obviously as it’s set at some indeterminate non canon point between the last two arcs there would be some spoilers, but you’ll know all the relevant characters.

Spoiler wise, you’re looking at finding out who joins the crew, what new abilities they get, who is still alive later on etc.

Reportedly, Disney Plus and Crunchyroll were engaged in a bidding war for the anime show. Crunchyroll was already preoccupied with the Fall Anime releases this year, which had allegedly also drained their funds. Seizing the moment, Disney Plus stepped in and outbid the opposing party to gain exclusive streaming rights.

Viz chose to make Bleach streaming rights exclusive to the highest bidder.

Surely they'd want more eyes on the product by selling the show across various platforms as they did with Demon Slayer.

Crunchyroll used most of their Autumn season acquisition cash on Chainsaw Man instead. They made the right choice in that respect.

I've just been watching Akiba Maid War, it's brilliant!

I'll put this in spoilers in case anyone wants to go in fresh:

Spoiler

Imagine the Yakuza games but with girls in maid outfits instead of burly gangsters, a very funny pastiche of violent Japanese crime movies and thankfully free of pervy fanservice.

Don't put me on a list until you try the first episode at least...

I may give it a shot when I've finished Shield Hero and caught up with Bleach.

I've had a search, and it seems a pretty bizarre premise.

So long as it's not full of cringe like Chainsaw Man, It will be ok.

EDIT: I've just started Episode 1, and I'm not even 1 minute into it, and I'm already thinking WTF have I just witnessed! Great Stuff! LOL

EDIT 2: Finished Episode 1 and this is great, not what I was expecting at all!

Cheers for the recommendation @Professor Puzzles

I have never watched any Anime, is there anything on Amazon prime that would be a good starting point to see if I enjoy it?

There's such a huge variety available that it's hard to know where to start, it depends on what genre of stuff you're into. Inuyashiki is pretty good; it's about an old man who gets turned into a cyborg when he's hit by an alien meteorite and decides to use his powers to help people who are sick, but someone else got hit too and they have very different ideas about what to do with their powers. It's both heartwarming and pretty disturbing at turns, and might give a decent impression as to the kind of wild tonal shifts and bonkers plot turns that often turn up in anime.

If you're willing to pay for a rental then try Your Name, a Sci-fi romance about a pair of strangers who find themselves swapping bodies occasionally and go about trying to find how and why it's happening. One of the best, most beautifully animated movies of recent years.

Gogoanime...

If you've got an adblocker you probably won't contract a horribly destructive virus. On the plus side it does seem to have basically every anime you could ever want.

Yarr.

EDIT: It does seem to be available on a legitimate paid streaming site called hidive if you prefer that.

I can't remember if it's still on Prime, but the boring obvious answer is Cowboy Bebop.

But there's a reason that's the boring obvious answer: because it's in the top 5 anime series ever made.

My next personal recommendation is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. That's probably not included with Prime though.

I would also NOT recommend Evangelion as a first ever anime. It could well put you off as it's quite steeped in anime tropes, even if it acts as commentary on them.

RE: Akiba Maid War

Yes, it's really well done. The end credits are just perfect, especially when you get the translated lyrics.

I like how the intro has the blurred out faces, and one by one the intro removes the blur as we are introduced to the characters.

And as far as translations go, I was really impressed with the subs in Episode Three explaining the Cheburashka reference. You can't beat touches like that.

That's all Five Episodes (So Far) done!

Thanks again for the recommendation, really enjoying it.

Maybe try a couple - although I'd steer clear of Magical Girl Site.

Thing about anime is the huge variety - as well as the ones mentioned, give Dororo and maybe Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress a go. And Psycho Pass 3, although I haven't tried that one myself - might be hard going if you're not familiar with the series.

You can also look up anime titles on animenewsnetwork.com, in the encyclopaedia section; click through from titles to reviews.

I was dropping off a few things I no longer need in a local charity shop earlier. I just happened to look at their DVDs, remember them, and low and behold they had some Anime. I got Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, Ninja Scroll and Street Fighter 2 the animated movie on DVD for a few quid.

I just watched Ghost in the Shell and good god what a film! The story, the concepts behind the story, the characters and the soundtrack were all brilliant. The soundtrack is all sorts of amazing! I was actually worried how the DVDs would look but Ghost in the Shell looked fine when played on my series x to a 42" c2 Oled.

5/5
