That said, it's been so long since I last read the manga, I wonder if some of the later stuff was actually filler or just very bad pacing.

Bit of both.

Right. Finished Kaiji.

I think it might be one of my favourite series ever. Definitely the most satisfying. It's immense. By the end I was punching the air.

Zawa zawa! Fans who like a little anxiety in their art are in luck, because an exhibition focusing on Nobuyuki Fukumoto's high stakes gambling manga Kaiji is heading to the Graveyard Gallery venue in Nakano Broadway, Tokyo, Japan in a two part installation that will run during the fall season of 2022.

The exhibition will feature artwork from Kaiji as well as its spin-off series (such as Mr. TONEGAWA: Middle Management Blues) as well as photo spots that reproduce famous scenes such as the "Steel Beam Crossing of Despair" and "The Bog" pachinko machine. Special character goods (such as T-shirts, keychains, and more) will also be available for purchase at the venue.

The Kaiji art exhibition runs from September 29 - November 06, 2022, on the third floor of the Graveyard Gallery Venue in Nakano Broadway, Tokyo, Japan.

In other news, Bleach is getting approximately 52-ish episodes for its new run but it'll be across 2 years. So 13 episodes then a 3 month break then another 13 eps.

How are they making more Bleach? I thought it finished years ago after an extremely bloated run. Is it a FMA-esque reboot or is there more of the manga to cover?

They never animated the final arc of the manga. The last 19 volumes of 74 were never animated, so around the final quarter of the overall story.

The final arc is actually quite interesting, it’s got some good parts and for me was much better than the rest of the story after soul society. However like most of bleach it’s got some terrible pacing, drags in places and feels quite rushed towards the end. The anime adaptation is a seasonal model rather than the old weekly production so should be better paced and have no filler than the previous anime, but there will still be some problems with it even if they just faithfully adapt the manga.

Been a pretty poor season this year, ended up watching some half hour Japanese drama's on Crunchyroll to pass the time. I think out of the 17 shows I have on my weekly watch list only a couple are much cop.  I've been thinking of going to some old series like Kinnikuman to pass the slower moments.

I'm re-reading the Manga again after giving up with the Anime for the second time.

I'm in the final arc and god is it dull and predictable.

Likewise, I think they'll gain some viewership off the nostalgia, but I think that people will soon remember how bad the source material is.

I'm also shocked at the almost copy and paste of some of the Stern Ritter with Naruto characters (I don't know which came first) although I suppose they are actually based on mythology.

There will however be some great fights in the Anime which i'm sure will be dragged out over a few episodes, so we will see some decent animation there I hope.

I wonder when Disney plan to show it over here in the UK.

Chainsaw man is going to be massive

I'm not surprised they've put some effort into it, with the Manga top bestseller lists etc I've had the first few volumes sat on my shelf but have yet to start them, although I do remember bits of it from scanlations.

Is the Manga still ongoing, does anyone know?

I wonder what the Solo Levelling Anime will be like, as that's got a massive following online but don't seem to see as well because it's not pushed as well.

The first part of the chainsaw man manga finished after 11 volumes, part 2 started quite recently.

One Piece Film Red is out in cinemas from November 4th 2022 in the UK -

It only came out in Japan on August 6th 2022.

You could say that's quite quick for a One Piece film to get a western release except this film was released in France on August 10th 2022.

The film has songs written by artists from different music genres and all are sung by popular artist Ado in the film -

Quote

01 (New Genesis) (written by Yasutaka Nakata)

02 (I’m invincible) (written by Mrs. GREEN APPLE)

03 (Backlight) (written by Vaundy)

04 (Fleeting Lullaby) (written by FAKE TYPE.)

05 Tot Musica (written by Hiroyuki Sawano)

06 (The World's Continuation) (written by Yuta Orisaka)

07(Where the Wind Blows) (written by Motohiro Hata)

08 BINKUSUNO SAKE *Special Track

(Preview of all 7 songs and 1 bonus track in the video above)

Title track is New Genesis -

It's doing quite well in Japan -

Really surprised that a new Urusei Yatsura series has been announced!

Seems likely to be a reboot, the character designs look  good though, I’m really excited for this!

YouTube threw this trailer at me this evening. No subs or anything, but it at least shows what it’s like.

Just utterly binged Kaguya-Sama: Love is war after watching a YouTube recommendation from Mothers Basement. Its really good! Genuinely funny, not uncomfortably pervy and the characters act like actual people (most of the time). They do the whole reset of the relationship for comedy a few times, but generally time does pass and the characters do age and grow and from what I can gather the manga actually has an end, so I'm in. Can't stand open ended stories.

Didn't watch much Anime for the past few years, there's a lot of good stuff I've missed. Haven't even got to Cyberpunk yet.

It’s looking really good!  No idea if it will make it to any streaming services, but I expect fan subs won’t take long to appear if it doesn’t.

 fucking Christ Bleach kicked ass.

Didn't it just!

The animation was top tier and the soundtrack was good too, regardless of what ppl think of the Manga Arc it's based on it's starting off strong in Anime form.

I gave up before finishing the first volume of Chainsaw Man so will be interested to see if I get on better with it as an Anime.

Yeah Chainsaw Man had one of the best first episodes I’ve ever seen. Utterly spectacular.

I'll agree with you there, as soon as the intro started I thought the animation was top-notch, and the episode took it a lot further.

I loved all the silly film homages in the intro too, is that something from the Manga or just for fun?

Not only that, but I liked that first episode a lot more than I did the few chapters of the Manga, and the episode leaves you wanting plenty more.

Is there anything else that's new I should be looking out for?

With Kamen Rider and now this and Bleach, I've got plenty of good things to watch again.

Chainsaw Man

Akiba Maid

Spy X Spy

Mob Psycho

my watch list, may watch yatsuri but watched the original so maybe not.

I'm doing Bleach & Chainsaw Man this season, It takes me ages to get through stuff these days so I've left Gundam (Although I'll binge it when everything else is done).

Although one of the characters introduced in the 2nd Episode of Chainsaw Man got on my fucking wick so I can see me dropping that soon.

I've never watched Urusei Yatsura before, as I was watching Ranma 1/2 back in those days so I may give that a try just to see why people like it.

So much Anime such little time.
