Does the new FMA completely replace the old one? Or a sort of continuation?

Replaces it. From what I understand, the beginning bit will be obviously similar since it follows the manga which they used in the first series but to save it from being the same stuff you saw previously, they're adding in some new content including a new character. I think. Other than that it should follow the manga storyline.

I laughed myself silly at stuff I'm sure was unintended in an episode of Macross 7. I think there's something wrong with me.

Gamlin and Doctor Chiba have a discussion.

MF7-1.jpg

Chiba's voice says "Come to my room tonight," but his face says rape.

Later that evening, Chiba answers the door in a weird costume

MF7-2.jpg

Rape incoming

Chiba forces Gamlin into a chair

MF7-3.jpg

"Relax"

Restraints lock Gamlin into the chair

MF7-4.jpg

And so begins a sequence of screaming, groaning and struggling

MF7-5.jpg

which ends in a shot of a scream echoing in space

Before I was fully recovered from that, we go to a kiddies concert, run by

MF7-6.jpg

Hitler

I've only seen a couple of episodes of FMA due to my housemate's obsession with it. The new OP looks nicely animated, no more awful 3D canyon sequence!

Don't watch the rest of that series. I beg of you.

At the very least, watch this new one that'll actually have a coherent plotline.

Oh fuck, I'd almost forgotten how terrible early M7 was.

First ep of FMA wasn't so bad. OP and a couple of the music tracks were quite good. Bit heavy-handed with hinting for later plot episodes with the ice guy practically screaming

there's a big huge conpiracy going on!

but I guess it can't be helped. Just a shame that they changed Mustang's excellent VA from previous to Lockon. It kinda works but I miss the old one.

Can anyone tell me what has has happened in Bleach, I kinda stopped after they rescued the rhombus face and then Orihme got kidnapped.

You remember the Soul Society arc right? Ok, take that only they're rescuing Orihime instead and instead of Soul Society, they're fighting in Mexico. Everything after that is the exact same.

If you're meaning the anime version, just imagine some shitty filler involving, I dunno, giant centipedes and more doll stuff every 3rd episode.

In the manga they've been saving Orihime for ohhhh just over 2 years now I think.

Finished Gurren and I hated the ending though admittely its actually happy resolution for Gainax compared to the other stuff. However, its just stunk and man...

Yoko with man chin..eughh and all alone?, Simon a vagabond instead of being with his friends?.

GIGA HINT:

Stop the video before it gets to the timeskip bit

Also Meh don't worry, I won't be watching any FMA. I have however become very interested in Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, I only ever saw the first episode and now the whole series is £15 on Play so I think I shall give it a goooo~

You should give the new FMA a go, since despite the filler they'll be splicing in there, it's going to follow the proper plotline, and not the fucking stupid nonsensical rubbish the original show gave us.

And 15 quid for Abenobashi? Sounds good.

Ignoring meh's foam ridden mouth, I just watched THORA's Blu-Ray rip of Castle of Cagliostro, and fuck me if it wasn't the best Blu-ray I"ve ever watched.

Thats not even about the content, as everyone knows how awesome that is (if you haven't seen it, why not?). The sheer clarity and color in this 30year old movie is insane. I've seen big blockbusters that don't remotely compare. Unfortunately I can't compare it to Manga Ent's release as it's in the loft somewhere, and I never got the more recent dvd that someone released. Hopefully this gets released over here at some point. Oh and it's taken 5 viewings of this film to hear Lupin call the count a lolicon

Now if only someone would sub the Tv Blu-Rays....

I'm afraid that people don't stay eternally young looking. Rossiu was more creepy anyway. Also, yes it was a bittersweet ending but still ended on a light touch and was great all around. Besides, as soon as you saw Nia had the Nono eyes you should have known she was going to make you cry bitch tears in the end.

I have nothing further to add, your honour.

And this is why I don't read manga thats still running, especially shonen

Surely it's even worse for their respective anime, that prolong it even more with the 1 minute eye zoom out to stall for time, since they know they're a cash cow.

Beem re-watching Full Metal Panic over the last few days.

Trying to decide what series to watch/re-watch next.

Gankutsuou - My favorite anime which I have only watched fully through 3 years ago. Have to watch it on my laptop

GTO - Never watched the full thing, got nearly halfway through it until work took over. Bloody long series.

FMP Fumoffu - Havent seen it in years but can only watch on Laptop.

Or just take yet another long break and buy a new series I've never seen.

In quality or viewer terms?

In viewer figures:

Only if you look at it from a whiny manga fanboy point of view (i.e. "the meh"). If anything, that works more these days then when it used to. Kenshin got dragged off the air because they had run out of manga, and it missed the best arc of the series (The Flashback, although it did produce Trust/Betrayal, which would probably have been watered down if aired on tv). Bleach etc don't have this issue because they can go to filler for a couple of months and keep heavy viewing figures, and sell stacks of dvds. I've changed my mind a little about using previous weeks footage for longer "last week on show x" every week, because Space Battleship Yamato was doing it in the late 70s, so thats hardly a new thing either. And Evangelion, one of the most successfull series ever did the almost/still frame thing far, far worse then "the big 3" do each week

In quality terms:

Well, again, this is why I don't watch most anime on a weekly basis, so tbh it doesn't affect me like it does some of you. it's no skin off my nose if a scene drags the content out, because I don't leave myself wanting it to hurry up to the next big fight/cool dialogue. By their nature these shows are going to be handled like this, and I'm not convinced this is a recent phonomenon. In fact I'm positive it's not, it's just at the forefront more now as the market is at the point where everyone and his dog is watching these shows, and even 6 years ago nothing of this length would be seen by that many people in the west (I'm struggling to think of a major series past 100eps aside from Ranma and Urusei yatsura that was available around 2000-2003). The kids in japan don't care, but they buy Jump etc every week anyway, we don't have that luxury. I realise people "make up" an issue of jump by reading stuff every week, but thats a calculated decision to do so.

Ok, sort of rambled there, not that I expect any agreement  (and certainly not from meh)

I would have preferred it if it had just ended with Simon walking off after the failtastic wedding and not bothered with the timeskip, leaves more up to the imagination*. Oh well! I guess the rest of the episode makes up for it, especially when Lord Genome turns into a giant drill with his head sticking out the end. LAGANN IMPACTOOOO

*This is why I partially hate Gunbuster 2
