Maybe, maybe. Anyway just about to watch Exia vs Trinity and I'm helluva looking foreward to it. There may not be any major stand-out reasons to watch this but it does a good job of touching on a lot of different elements like politics and romance.

The Berserk anime was fantastic, nothing less. They had no choice but to miss a few charcters as they only had enough money for a short run series. What we are left with a brief but great view of the Berserk universe. It'll probably get a full series once the manga is finished as the author seems to have picked up pace in the last 12 months upping the number of chapters released.

It's pointless and shit, with no budget and no end. Which would be fine, if they didn't slice out MAJOR CHARACTERS, as it would be then a perfect introduction to the manga, just like the recent-ish Guyver series.

It does, however, have utterly sublime Susumu Hirasawa music, so it's not a total loss.

It WAS the perfect introduction to the manga. After seeing it I read every chapter

And I bet you wondered who the fucker with the skull was, and the fairy bloke.

It was a bit of a mystery but like I said before it made me want to read the manga to find out the rest  The whole dark ages stuff was bloody brilliant though, especially the Hawks fall to the dark side so to speak.

It's been a while since I read it but doesn't

Skull bloke not come into right at the very end with the rebirth of Griffith? And while I think Puck shows up the manga equivalent of the first chapter, i wouldn't be that hard to redo.

Rather than a new series, they could go the Hellsing route and make a series of widely spaced OVA's. They'd look nicer too. Although if it would mean slowing down the author even more from writing new chapters I'd be happier without it.

OK, so I am diving right in at the far end of this chat as there are way too many pages to read through, from what I have seen most people are dissliking the Gundam 00 series, I think I watched 3/4 of it before deciding that really the ojnly reason I wanted to watch the end (which I still havent) was to make sure the travesty was over.

Would also liike to point out that Dragonaut: The Resonnance is shockingly poor, 25 episodes of the same, drawn out shite.

Things I could recommend are: Zombie Loan, Kenichi : Historys greatest disciple, Baccano! (thgis was great) and also Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Those are all quite excellent, Devil May Cry and Golgo 13 are alos worthy of note.

Now time for a hammering from the hard core, I also appreciate and enjoy on a regular (weekly) bassis, Naruto, Bleach and Soul Eater! I am sure these are not to everyones tastes, but minus the filler episodes they are pretty good, and at least with naruto you don't have the unrealistic situation whereby none of the main cast can die i.e baddies always get beat but survive, in naruto, when your dead your dead, good or bad, main characters or bit parts, no one comes back (well, except once, lol).

Thoughts?

Mike..

Naruto and Bleach would be acceptable if they weren't long and drawn out so the people involved get more money, weren't full of horrible art and animation, plot holes, bad characters.

If Naruto and Bleach had ended after the first arc, they would probably be regarded as very good.

Mike, why did you dislike Gundam 00? Have you watch any other Mecha anime that involves quasi-realistic mecha?

Shounen is shit.

Gurren Lagann, Hokuto no Ken, Jojo, Ippo, Eva, Death Note, Kenshin etc are shit?

Agreed on the point that Naruto and Bleech are over long and drawn out, although as I read the Manga on a weekly bassis I can let the anime off a little for it's filler as it would never be able to keep behind the mangas schedule, although in the case of Naruto, the Manga is at least a year ahead of the Anime, Bleach not so far.

Gundam 00 kinda wound me up, cnt quite remember why just now, but I will revisit it and see why.

As for death Note which you mention, great series, until the end, it really wound me up how it ended, thus spoiling the entire series for me.

Gurren Laggun was just plain awesome, after the incident with one of the main protagonists I was refusing to watch it for a few weeks as I couldnt believe they had done that, but I am so glad I went on to watch it all, from week to week it just became more and more over the top, a series I personally think could have been tretched alittle further in some places and wouldnt have seemed like filler IMO.

The problem with the Bleach manga is its all gone to shit. It seems to take about 5 issues for a single fight to finish and then theres usually another 7 or 8 lined up. Plus its always the same thing and the fights have become dull. Put me right off watching the anime.

Bleach turned to shit after the Soul Society arc. They introduced far too many characters, meaning that no-one had any real development. Then it went all DBZ on us - fights just became a case of who had the biggest pen-erm, spirit-power, not skill or anything.

Then the fights all became the same.

It's so bad it could be an parody of pointless shounen.

Naruto's manga, on the other hand, is getting pretty good. One Piece is also amazingly awesome.

Is it true with the Bleach anime that after the Soul Society arc for the next 40 - 50 episodes it has Ichigo having the shit getting kicked out of him basically for the whole time without winning a fight ? A mate of mine ranted about how terrible it was and I still haven't watched any Bleach past that arch, sounds like I haven't missed too much.

All those episodes after Soul Society are typical horseshit fillershit, and didn't occur in the manga at all.

It then carries over some stupid cunting soft toys like Kon over to the next arc. Who don't exist in the manga at all.

It's a horrible mess of a show.

Nice OPs, though.

I actually liked Kon too :)

Can't say I'll bother with it anytime soon, got far too much stuff to watch anyway like Urusei Yatsura, Gintama, Monster (which I keep hearing is excellent), Macross (original series, never seen any Macross before), Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann plus far too many other bloody shows in the backlogue!
