I think it's a love or hate thing. A lot of people have nostalgia feelings towards it, while others hate it. It's certainly the most notorious for having grunt units who stand there and do nothing while the main cast destroy hundreds of them to show how good they are, and having lots of yaio undertones and fangirls. Although the yaio undertones are highly debateable, and more of a fandom delusion compounded by myth and exaggeration.

I believe it's somewhere around average, and Endless Waltz is meant to be quite good.

It's OK, but yeah there are too many really shit mobile suits that are pure canon fodder. That said, some of the characters are brilliant, and the actual Gundam suits are awesome.

Endless Waltz is pretty good IIRC.

At the minute I'm watching Gintama and Urusei Yatsura, a great double bill to watch a few episodes of each before going to bed. I wasn't sure what Gintama would be like but decided to give it a go and it's a lot of fun, completely mental and offbeat but not in a horrible 'look at me aren't I wacky?' way. Urusei Yatsura just gets better and better as well, I will never fail to find Atarus pervert grin funny before he goes chasing after a woman <_<

I started Gintama the other day, it's quite silly - perhaps even more then UY, which hasn't aged a bit (well, it has, but you know what I mean). Hopefully the new Rumic World OVA makes a dvd release soon! They could easily make a 12ep series, it's popularity in Japan hasn't dropped one iota.

Just seeing his face appear randomly is enough to give me the giggles

I'm getting Urusei Yatsura now too. Someone is uploading an episode a day to Usenet, with the 20th episode today. It'll take a while to get all 195. Oh, about 195 days.

Christ man! Although saying that, it took me 166 days because I watched loads of over a couple of weeks then progressed slowly for a couple of months. I'm currently steaming through Ranma in order to maintain a 1ep per day ratio for much the same reason.

Not too bad now, 20eps to get through in 4 days

The manga's a bit more disturbing than the anime, too.

I remember having to sit down for 5minutes during the final volume (and during the

Miyabi incident

near the end), such was the impact of a couple of plot events

Guess I should take some pics of some of my GTO cels, got loads of great Onizuka face-pulling

Because they inevitably turn into absolute shit, that's why. Gundam SEED was fine. I actually liked it, despite the twee end. But then they go and make fucking Destiny.

FUCKING DESTINY.

Wing is utter balls from start to finish, and 00 looks like it follows the same old shite of having emo protagonists. Fuck that shit.

I'll take Macross and its happy-happy optimism any day of the week.

I read somewhere Full Metal Alchemist 2 is coming out this year.

Hopefully it could live up to the first one and Macross Frontier Movie i'm looking forward to.

It isn't FMA2. It's FMA done properly this time. :)

Speaking of Gundam I just saw some Zeta Gundam Blu-ray rips.

The first series is absolute dog-shit and a crime against the good name of FMA. As has been said already, it's going to be a proper series. :)

The Frontier movie is going to be DYRL style, it seems.

Meh, have you watched the original Gundam and it's OVAs/Sequels? If not, then it's like your judging SDF by watching Frontier or Zero.

But Frontier and Zero are both good. The only thing approaching shitness in the Macross universe is Macross 7.

Best news I've had all year. Now all we need is a sequel to Berserk and I'm set for life. Wiki has this to say:

In the 20th manga volume, Arakawa announced that a second Fullmetal Alchemist anime television series is currently being produced. Bones will produce the new series and Yasuhiro Irie will be series director. The title series is expected to premier in April 2009 with the same name as the previous series.

I loved the first series and its once of the only anime's I enjoy watching every other year.

It all comes down to personal taste really then, doesn't it? A lot of people would call Frontier inferior to 00, while others would be vice versa.

You can't base the entire Gundam metaseries on the post 1992 alternate universe stories. Go watch the originals. I'm on Zeta now and i'm loving it. The universe has so much depth to it I found myself spending 3 hours reading into it and the detailed timeline I found online. Also, I learned what a lagrange point is! :)

Yep, i could not stand macross Zero, such a dissapointment, i was really hyped about it too but it failed on the two main areas, story and music. Frontier is on my to watch list.

Frontier really was infinitely superior to Zero, don't worry!

I quite like Zero's music. It suited the mood of the show.

But FMA's not a sequel, thank fuck.

A sequel to Berserk will never, ever happen. Also: thank fuck. They omitted two major characters, for crying out loud.

The Berserk anime was fantastic, nothing less. They had no choice but to miss a few charcters as they only had enough money for a short run series. What we are left with a brief but great view of the Berserk universe. It'll probably get a full series once the manga is finished as the author seems to have picked up pace in the last 12 months upping the number of chapters released.

"I AM GUNDAM MEISTER" - Yes we know.

Why the hell do they keep talking to themselves in third person and constantly reminding themselves of who they are? Kids with special needs shouldn't be allowed to pilot giant super mechs.

I am enjoying it though but the emo moments are just silly.

Isn't it just a form of self encouragement? Like "Cmon me, you're a gundam meister, you have to do better than this!"

People cry all kinds of retarded things in the middle of a life/death situation.
