Not even the Death Star trench run was that long. Bit of a let down really aside from seeing Lockon's shieldy things. Oh and the gay captain died.

Them shields were obviously inspired by one of the bosses in Rez! Didn't see the 00-razor going into TENGA-TOPPA mode either, what gives? Did he shoot his load last week?

How was it a let down? I loved all of it.

It just seemed to drag out for too long. Seemed to take ages for them to

get anywhere close to the orbital weapon despite the so called mighty speed boost of the the Ptolaemios(fuck knows the spelling) in Trans Am mode.

I think it's kind of bugging me there seems to be a whole bunch of characters that are just kind of sitting round in the background. I seem to remember in the first series, almost everyone would turn up in an episode and have at least something to say. Ali's had maybe what, 5 lines in the past 2 weeks? Bushido is off polishing his mask or something as well.

No doubt I'll look back at this in 3 weeks when some major event happens and regret my complaints.

It wouldn't have had half as much barrages of shooting and exploding if it got there as fast as it appeared it should have.

As for the entire cast not appearing in every episode, that's fine too. Most of them just spend half the time crying anyway :)

This is largely opinions, but I like the fact that it just can't magically zoom right into the most heavily guarded space orbital weapon within second, and if you remember the space solar ring does go around the entire planet and more, so it's deceptively large. Dragged out too long? Didn't feel this way for me, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time (it's like i'm really watching Lockon Luke Skywalker blow up the Death Star!) and enjoyed seeing Sumeragi's plan - it was a pretty cool plan. The Ptolemaios looked pretty awesome if you ask me, and the entire Cheridum shield bits and Seravee huge laser sphere was also entertaining. Nice to see that the 00 Raiser isn't the centre of all plans and is still just another player on the team rather than being a hax god mode machine that can wipe out an army by itself. Nena grew on me a little as well this episode. And I think it's good that the staff don't feel the need to put in a pointless shot of every single character in the world saying something pointless just for screentime's sake. When MISTAH BUSHIDO returns it'll just increase the power of his entrance if he hasn't been seen in a while. Also, the episode had minimal Saji Crossroad.

Also, HANK HERCULES. You just know this guy is going to do something awesome.

I'm probably going to get skewered alive for this, but i've never watched Akira, so i've decided to download it and watch it tommorow. My excuse is that I was not alive when it was released in cinemas.

Well I was only ten when it was released in cinemas, so your excuse is bollocks!! HEATHEN!!!! :)

Is Ergo Proxy worth bothering with at all? I have rips of the whole series, but just can't get into it.

It's brilliant, one of the best anime's out there. Been quite some time since I've seen it but I can reccomend it as having one of those GitS:SAC kind of storylines where it all kind of makes sense at the end.

I've never found it to be 'overrated', just about everyone who's seen it will say "Yeah, it looks amazing, plot's a piece of shit though".

It's still the most 'cinematic' of all the animated movies I've seen.

Yeah, plot's not Akira's strong suit. That's what happens when you make a movie of an manga that was nowhere near finished.

X is the worst for that, the Tv version was made seevral years after the movie but still when the manga was not remotely near finished, and it never will be now either

Nah, Kadokawa refused to print any more for "social reasons". Basically they decided it was too violent. After 18volumes......

Could they not get someone else to print it or is their some sort of stigma ?
