Kaji shows it to Misato (and possibly shinji?) and misato (or both) assume it to be Adam.

Also, in rebuild

the lance of longinous is already impaled in lilith, whereas in the tv show it's shipped to japan during "Asuka Strikes" and not shown impaled into lilith until after Misato sees it

. Which actually, is another reason to think Asuka's entrance might be manga style.

Rebuild out on DVD, or is it cam versions we're talking about

it was released on dvd way back in april iirc in japan. Fansubs of the dvd took a week or so

I've just watched the first 10 minutes of the CG version of Appleseed. Oh my god. :)

I'll save it for tonight but it really does look amazing.

The first movie's very enjoyable guff. Good to hear you like what you've seen so far.

Just don't pay attention to what any SF magazine will tell you about the sequel. It's atrocious, and John Woo made it as unendingly shit as Mission: Impossible II.

I watched all of Seto no Hanayome over the last week.

Brilliant, one of the funniest and entertaining anime i've seen in a god while. I think i'll watch School Rumble perhaps now.

Do it.

And i'm downloading Gintama and Eureka Seven.

FUCK YEAH EUREKA SEVEN!

Behave yourself. The sequels fine. Not as good as the first one that's true but it's hardly bad even with the John Wooisms as a part of it, still good fun. Mission Impossible 2 is bad but the first film's worse. Jim Phelps a traitor my fucking arse.

It's a hideous film with flabby, disengaging action scenes. They're flashy and spectacular but ultimately completely empty. The whole robot doves thing is utterly pissing ludicrous, and even the music's not as good.

Hell, even the CGI's not as good - it's completely and utterly charmless next to the original. Way too clean with greys everywhere.

Utter pisswank.

Like Mission: Impossible II.

Surely though the first film's just as empty ? As much as I love the original there's fuck all substance to it, the sequel felt more of a retread than anything with flashier action which is why I enjoyed it. I'll be the first to admit the John Woo style doesn't really suit Appleseed that well but it's not that far removed from the first film and as a piece of action anime is good fun.

Yes Mission Impossible 2 is wank, Appleseed sequel isn't.

Nevermind the films, when the hell does the Appleseed tv series start ? It's this year isn't it ?

It felt like a retread on auto-pilot. The action scenes in the first movie weren't the best thing ever, but there was bits like near the end where (I've forgotten her name, or rather how to spell it) jumps off the building, and just before she goes splat, suits up in mid-air and zooms off to kick big robot spider thingy arse.

And there were no ROBOT DOVES. Jesus CHRIST, like the film needed to remind us it was directed by Woo anymore than it'd already managed with the faggoty fight sequences playing out like some spasticated gun-dance.

Speaking of Appleseed, Appleseed Genesis has been suspended due to legal issues. Wasn't actually aware of this before. It is supposed to be a 26 episode series and the plan was to have the whole thing made before the first episode airs because it is getting a worldwide release. Is the series supposed to be CG like the movies, does anyone know? The only picture I saw associated with it was, but it could be a movie picture being used as a placeholder.

Enjoyed that last episode of MF. The first show I started watching as it aired. Seems like ages ago somehow. Bit weird that they had optional Zentradi subs on that last episode :)

Aye, but thank f**k for ONCE they finally had "English NO KARAOKE" subs.
