Whew! I started working my way through all 252 episodes of One Piece back in March/April and only just got round to finishing the last Kaizoku fansub today. Fantastic series! But its been ssooo long since I watched another anime series. Feel like I need a breather :lol: I will say one thing its much better to watch than read as a Manga. The manga's seem to lose a lot of character development that the anime has but I suppose thats down to them having to flesh out a lot of it to make so many episodes.

:lol::D :D

So Funimation have been issuing C+D orders to the groups subbing Slayers Revolution, and SS-Eclipse have agreed to do so. Funimation have not even announced they have a license for this show. They do have a license for the original, Next and Try, but not for Revolution (and afaik ADV still have the ovas and movies). If they did, fine. Apparently C+D's for other shows they do not have are being issued (either by them or others, I'm not sure)

Last time I checked SS-Eclipse weren't Dattebayo, so I find this believable ;)

Cease and desists come and go but even if SS-Eclipse don't do it, it will be subbed by someone. Although the quality may not be up to much.

Mind you, I can be so blasé because 12 weeks later I still only have the first series downloaded. Only another month to go...

Edit: Also, glad you liked Gunbuster and Diepuster. Piro. :lol:

I read about this a few days ago. Also against Monochrome Factor, Nabari no Ou, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Bamboo Blade and El Cazador de la Bruja. Nabari no Ou is the only one of those I'm currently watching and it seems to be subbed still.

Aye, I remembered Funi doing it, but not the actual shows. Still, usually another group will popup just to finish a licensed show and slayers has a fair few followers thanks to the original and remastered dvds.

It's interesting that One Piece was brought up, I'm working my way through Water7 now. That was a giant twist in the identity of Cp9, and Water7 is hardly an uneventful arc in the first place. I'm on 242 now, and I've got the rest of the arc already downloaded except one solitary ep which wont download :lol:

So now i've watched FLCL, GL, GB and DB from Gainax.

You haven't seen NGE?

Even I've seen NGE...

Have fun with Water 7 Sephy - it's pretty good until it has a run of recap filler episodes right in the bloody middle...

As for One Piece in general though, the anime is great in places - the voice acting is probably the highlight for me, but fairly recently it's considerably decreased in quality - too much recapping, dodgy animation and drawing since the Water 7 arc. And that's not even counting the filler stuff... Also I really hate the really long OP. Bah. One Piece used to have great OPs and EDs, but they've been consistently shite for ages now!

Oh the joys of the Manga.

I pretty much skip recap episodes* where possible, or rather I'll use the skip forward button on my apple remote. Funny you should mention the op, episodes in water7 are taking 7minutes to get from the opening sequence to the end of the opening theme. Thats for a show that never had pre op theme stuff! The episode I was waiting for to download has actually finished, so theres a chance I'll finish the arc today. I think I've got about 15episodes until it switches arc

*If it's the odd flashback I can manage that, but if it's mostly flashback than no.

I think there are about five flashback eps - 1 for Luffy and the others share an episode between two of them. Or maybe they get one each, I can't remember! I think they start dropping the pre-OP (lol) stuff at the end of the water 7 arc anyway.

Just to clarify, these are actually within water7, and not in the filler before?

right smack in the middle. Well, about two thirds to three quarters of the way through the arc, just before all the fighting happens. Since the water7 arc is super (SUUUUPAAH!) long, the anime was catching up too quickly and drastic action had to be taken. The recaps are made worse by the fact that since OP is broadcast in hi-def, there are massive borders all the way around the screen!

Could you tell me whereabouts you've reached in the arc? I could tell you exactly where the filler happens, but I don't want to spoil anything by naming events or places...

I've literally watched the episode where CP9 bust in on

Franky and Usopp's conversation about Going Merry

And I'm pretty sure Skypia is just as long, if not longer than Water7 (although from what i gather there is some "debate" about where water7 ends)

I've just been looking at wikipedia for some hard facts! So, have you just watched up to around episode 250? 279-83 are the flashback summary eps. The arc goes on until

325

- and there are a couple of filler eps at the tail end of the arc too, but I think they're actually intertwined with the proper stuff for once, unfortunately. They aren't that intrusive though.

I think this arc is definitely the longest (and best) though.

Yeah, theres definately some debate over arc length. My research suggests the cp9 saga does run that long, but the water7 arc itself runs to 263 (the skypia arc was also part of a "saga"). I'm on 248, and have everything to 263 as I'm tackling OP in arcs. My prior research suggests those flashbacks are part of Enies Lobby. The arc changes do seem less clear cut than say Bleach or Naruto so there is a lot of confusion

Wikipedia did once have a clear cut break down of the Saga/arc relationship with a nice table to show what arcs go with what saga, but it vanished a few weeks ago, and my wikipedia knowledge was less than it is now. I'll see if I can revive the chart

Right I've investigated, and basically a few people decided between themselves that listing by arc was crazy talk, and it should be split into "seasons". Well, like all "as long as it takes" anime, OP doesn't air in seasons, despite what one of the editors has claimed. Apparently Toei have their own guide, which while not perfect, it does actually lend itself to splitting the show up far more logically then just deciding OP airs in 26ep seasons.

* 1st Season: [untitled] - 1 ~ 62

* 2nd Season: Entering The Grand Line Chapter - 63 ~ 77

* 3rd Season: Enter Chopper at the Winter Island Chapter - 78 ~ 92

* 4th Season: Arrival At Alabasta Chapter - 93 ~ 110

* 4th Season: Alabasta Kingdom Chapter - 111 ~ 130

* 5th Season: Rainbow's Edge Chapter - 131 ~ 143

* 6th Season: Sky Island ~ Skypiea Chapter - 144 ~ 172

* 6th Season: Sky Island ~ The Golden Bell Chapter - 173 ~ 195

* 7th Season: Escape! The Naval Fortress & The Foxy Pirate Crew Chapter - 196 ~ 228

* 8th Season: Water Seven Chapter - 229 ~ 263

* 9th Season: Enies Lobby Chapter - 264 ~ 278

* 9th Season: Special Chapter – Straw-Hat Theatre and The Straw-Hat Pirate Crew - 279 ~ 283

* 9th Season: Enies Lobby Chapter - 284 ~ 325

* 10th Season: Ice Hunters & Thriller Bark Chapter 326 ~ Present

The "fan created arcs" that the wiki page editor is dead against line up fairly well, there are some splits not used by toei, but the general approach is the same (for example G8 is split from the foxy pirates in the chart I used for downloading eps, but they are both between major arcs). Ignore the seasons part, simple maths show they are far from exact splits to tv schedules (apparently season 3 is 14ep, season 4 is 37). I'm assuming "special chapter" is where the flashbacks occur, with the Theatre episodes aired with each of the eps (which i've already seen). I've also seen Enies Lobby split into "enies lobby" and "post enies lobby", but that may or may not refer to filler or a small arc
