IN REAL NEWS, WHERE IS HARUHI 2?!

:lol::huh::wub:

The correct question is where is Book 10? Finish book 9 on your first sodding cliffhanger and then don't release the next one rargh.

But yeah, don't expect season 2 until maybe next Spring or Summer.

It was supposed to be out last year but for some mysterious reason it got pulled and has since not had a new release date slapped on it. Tsk, now I have to re-read the series now because you reminded me. :)

Sephy: Considering kyoani have Clannad After Story airing in October, it's fairly unlikely they'll release a second series at the same time. Since that'll probably be a 26 ep series that puts it back to Spring unless they have a break for a season in which case Summer. I seem to remember they changed project staff for it so that could be why it's not been mentioned.

I can only hope never. I've tried to like it but it's just so obviously a poor One Piece clone.

aww, the art style and general tone are really very similar, but I like the fact it's more One Piecey than other shonen mangas. It's like he's learnt well from the master, and although it hasn't reached quite the same spectacular heights in the first hundred chapters, it's still more fun to read than most weeklies...

I read through Soul Eater recently, does anyone know how far the animated series is going to get to? There's some really awesome stuff coming up, which would be nice to see animated, but they stick pretty rigidly to one episode per chapter, and they're hardly going to get anywhere if it's a 24-6 episode series. I'm glad I pushed on from reading the early chapters though - in the beginning all the characters looked like even more downs syndromey Key characters - really off-putting!

The trouble was that the anime was finished way before the manga had been completed so they basically just made up an esoteric ending. It happens a lot when animes are made in this way; A manga's at the height of its popularity so an anime is needed, but the story isn't finished.

The manga's a lot more detailed, satisfying and complete as a story apparently. It certainly should be as it's the source material.

The manga's complete and utter raw drivel of the highest calibre. It's way better than that useless Gonzo shit you've been watching.

I was replying to this to say that I wasn't going to read your spoilers, but then the quote came through unspoilered in the reply!

Still pretty stoked to read the manga though :)

Now where can I get the Gantz manga up to date and at a decent price?

A few days ago you could read it at onemanga.com.

:)

Still, at least Dark Horse won't brutally rape the English-language version or anything.

51 episodes. I've read the manga up to the point where

Kishin gets released and runs off, the end of that arc. So basically the end of the current anime arc

Gunbuster 100% downloaded, will commence watching soon. And the new Xam'd episode.

You should all start watching Xam'd.

THANK YOU FAP FAP FAP

At least point away from me ffs. :)

With regards to Soul Eater, it's a fairly safe bet that they'll have to pull a FMA on it and basically make up an ending for it since the manga's still going. Still, might be good. Looking forward to seeing

insane Maka

though.

I harbour a strong dislike for Maka in the anime.

I don't think her VA will be able to pull that off.

She is still a bit flat in the voicing department but it is does fit the character though. Can't imagine her with a higher pitched voice. At least there'll be Maaya Sakamoto for Chrona's part. :)

The only reason I really enjoy Soul Eater is because of Death and his partners, and BS and Tsubaki. Maka is just.... an annoying, normal if uptight bitch.

On the other hand, Death and BS are both batshit insane. Oh, Stein is good too. And Blair's "fight" is going to be animated soon :) ....

51?! That's right in the middle of an arc! lame. Lame. LAME!

So, Xam'd then... who should I download from, I hear several subs have issues..?

Now that I've finished Gantz I've got either Blood+ or Ergo Proxy to watch.

Probably go with Ergo as Blood+ is stuck in mkv files that are a pain to convert on my Mac, unless anyone knows different.

Ergo Proxy's the better of the two. I really enjoyed the series but it took me a second watching to get all of what was happening right from the start. Blood+ is alright but they drag it out a bit. Reasonable enough though.

So, Xam'd then... who should I download from, I hear several subs have issues..?

Go for the [Fabulous] releases for the high quality. They've only done 3 out of the 5 episodes but they look the best.

I really don't think it does. At least not what I had imagined her to be like. I wish they had gone with a veteran VA for the role but it's at the point now where I can just put it to the back of my mind so it doesn't bother me too much. I suppose it also helps that I haven't seen an episode in months :(

Watched the first 16 - 17 episodes of Maison Ikkoku so far and it's brilliant, just completely daft and off the wall with some great characters and very funny misunderstandings.

I look forward to seeing who else gets introduced soon enough as I know Rumiko Takahashi always adds new, off the wall characters into her series throughout them.

Hmmm I don't recall MI adding many characters. Certainly not in UY or Ranma terms, but MI is more focused on the core dynamic.

Yup. The main characters are the people living at Maison Ikkoku plus Mitaka, Godai's friend and his eventual girlfriend. There are a few more who crop up from time to time (Kyoko's parents father-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, Godai's grandmother who steals the show every time she turns up) but it's more about the Ikkoku residents as Dandy said.

I watched about ten episodes before giving up. Pretentious cyberpunk bollocks which seemed to be going nowhere. Watching Vexille reminded me of Ergo and not in a good way. If it improves later on let me know as I'd like to finish it if only to then delete it with extreme prejudice.

Compare to UY where you get all these in the space of a few eps

First ep:

Ataru, Ataru's Parents, Shinobu

Lum + father

Cherry

Then in the space of 10eps or so, you get:

Megane, Perm, Chibi

Mendou

Sakura

Onsen

Jariten

All are regular characters, then you get Oyuki, Benten and Ran and someone whose name I forget a few eps later, who while not appearing remotely as much as the others are still returned to often. Then later you get Ryuunosuke (blatantly the inspiration for Ranma a few years later) and father introduced later who appear very often. All of these characters get their own "leading roles" at various points, and often get bigger backstorys and current storylines then the two leads (Mendou for example has about 10eps in the first 100 which revolve around him, his family or his family's company)

Ranma introduces new characters every couple of eps in the first "season", each character other than the Tendo's, Genma and Ranma seems to get a 3-4ep mini arc
