then you know more then me! Admittedly iassumed they were VHS. The question is, what is the quality like? I was going to watch the DVD versions but Im not sure I want to wait several weeks between releases. Saying that, I was only going to do the torrent files for use at a later date so Ill leave it a few weeks and see if the releases pickup. I'm watching their Yamato releases atm anyway (which are DVD rips)

The quality on the old stuff is fine all things considered. Bear in mind that I haven't seen the quality of the DVD rips to compare them. But I'm usually quite picky about this stuff. So if I can watch them anyone can, although my love for Adachi Mitsuru might have blinded me to reality :)

I also somehow doubt they are going to pickup speed on these DVD rips. Well certainly not enough to cover all 101 eps in the next few weeks anyway. But I do think that sounds like a plan, who knows? they may surprise and bring out a big batch. The old stuff isn't going anywhere after all.

Re: Angel Heart, yeah I've been picking up the episodes as they were released. Sort of surprised it was finished at 50 though. For some reason I was under the impression it had run for 52 episodes.

Hikaru no Go's quite good but suffers a bit from the Death Note syndrome(since it's by the same guy) of having a bit of a weak ending as if the writer got bored of the series and wanted it to end as quick as possible.

The artist is the same but the writers are different (Yumi Hotta and Tsugumi Ohba respectively)

Update: attempts to watch the .mkv episodes of Lagaan using hacked builds of mplayer have failed miserably. Since I'm not planning on getting a new laptop anytime soon, I've resigned myself to watching them raw. I'm sure it'll look good but fuck knows if I'll be able to understand anything, but hey there's always Wikipedia to explain all once I'm done.

(I may have asked this question before but) On a different note, I seem to have accumulated too much anime and I don't know where to start so help me choose from:

Turn A Gundam

Fruits Basket

Kemonozume

Trigun

Evangelion

Wolf's Rain

or just download/purchase the dvds that have started coming out...

I haven't seen Trigun, Kemonozume or Turn A Gundam.

However, from the rest, I would order it:

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Fruits Basket

Wolf's Rain

Also, if that Gundam one is like all the others, I would place it pretty low. I know Trigun gets quite a bit of love from abouts.

The bss subs on the Animesuki bulild of MPlayer (on an intel mac) work brilliantly for me...

From what I've read, there's the 4 main "Stages" of Initial D, with the additional "Battle Stages" being compilations of races from the series. So I assume it is safe to skip those?

No don't skip the battle stages. Yes there highlight races but in each battle stage there is a race you only see in the manga, also first battle stage has redone cgi and animation on the cars and the music has change.

Third Stage is just a single movie.

I almost have all stages downloaded now and had a peek at the OP and ED in each. Lovely Engrish :) LETS GET MOVE

First Stage has dual audio and I just noticed the song is completely different on the English stream.

I watched Sky Witches episode 01 :D

Is anyone else following any of these current season Anime?:

Soul Eater

Sekirei

Macross Frontier

Birdy The Mighty Decode

Xam'd

Also, Geass R2 seems to me to have lost a lot of "credibility". Basically, the shit they're doing now is a load of bollocks. Yet I still find it highly entertaining.

Natsume Yujinchou and Ryoko's Case File are in my "zomg amaze" tier. Natsume is like a nice blend of Mushishi with xxxholic; nice folklore-ish monsters mixed with a bit of silly humour. Ryoko's Case File is interesting for it's interactions between the two male leads and the bizarre cases they encounter.

I want to watch Xam'd since the first ep was good and the op is amazing but the lack of a coherent encoder is really annoying me.

You could just import the R1 Dvds, you know. That or wait for the UK R2s. Why spoil the show for yourself?

The Geass R1 Dvd is also out. Looks amazing. The subs are really well done.
