I was lucky with city hunter as I bougt the boxsets that adv released before their license expired. A 26ep boxset was something crazy like £18and the six boxes were all released within a year iirc. Also I was only working half days so I had loads of time. I was doing Mr Jeff type numbers per week with ease

I know exactly what you mean about takahashi stuff. I don like having to rush Urasei Yatsura, but I fell behind in My schedule and so I'm marathoning a large chunk in order to clear my backlog. I'm aiming to hit 140 before Monday (making 53eps in a week) just so I don't drag it out too long. Luckily via broke ranma up into seasons, which makes it easier to manage, and I'm deciding if I should rewatch the first season or if I can get away with hitting season2. As for Maison Ikkoku I got around halfway through before losing my place, but I'm not as willing to leave the earlier eps alone for that.

Quit plotting to overthrow my record of 168 in a week! :P

I wish my Slayers torrent would hurry up; it has ridiculously slow seeding. 5 weeks I've been downloading the second series and the corresponding ovas/film that are before or just after the first series(which took 4 weeks) and then I still have the 3rd series and all the ovas and films after that! Madness. All the while Slayers Revolution is sitting there on my drive teasing me with it's sparkling new goodness like the tempting whore it is. :(

Never got into Urusei Yatsura; tried the first episode and just skimmed through it.

Picked the first 2 disc volume of Gurren Lagann for £20.

Decent-ish.

The original title of the show 'Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann' has been shorted to just 'Gurren Lagann'.

Couple of minor phonetic changes like Ganman to Gunmen, and Ritona village to Littner village.

Only two spelling mistakes in the whole of the first disc.

Uncut ep 6, not the edited one is in this release. Awesome.

The OP and ED subs don't appear on any of the eps, which is odd.

No extras on either disc.

Translation is good, although some lines are markedly different from the fansubs.

If you buy the Special Edition, it comes with a cd single of the OP music.

Macross F 15

FFS, just have a threesome already. There was even a signal in your face right there.

You've got to admit, it was a lol-worthy scene;

"Hey Alto remember when I you did this with me?" "Oh yeah, well he almost did this with me!" "Right, that's it, singing fight!" And neither of them has been bitchy to the other! Not even Sheryl which is amazing. Even more oddly I'm starting to like Sheryl... :) Slight recap as well; I broke down laughing at Ranka's debut on the battlefield. So ridiculous. :P

I've got the first two boxsets of Maison Ikkoku on Region 1 DVD for sale in the trading folder, if anyone's interested in Rumiko Takahashi stuff. Open to offers, and stuff. ;)

I'd be all over this but I seem to recall that Viz never got around to releasing the entire series unless of course I'm talking complete rubbish.

dvdpacific only has the first 4, but I checked the viz site and they released 8 boxes. Each box is 12eps on 3 discs and Maison Ikkoku is 95eps long. So yes, they did

Viz have been known to dump stuff before (They only released 8 of the 30+vols of urusei yatsura manga), so I can understand the worry

Hey,

What anime has been good in the last year or so. I've seen Gurren Lagann and Code Geass, anything else I should be lloking at. I've been away from the scene for a bit.

Also Maison Ikokku is worth seeing if you can get it all.

Short list of awesome:

Seirei no Moribito: Samurai fantasy setting involving a spear wielding female bodyguard looking after a Prince that's being targetted.

Baccano: Action/Comedy set in 1930's gangster setting involving a bunch of character who's stories intertwine.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: Suicidal teacher meets his new class of dysfunctional students. Wierd comedy.

Sword of the Stranger: Very very good samurai movie.

Moyashimon: College student is able to see microbes as cute little blob things. Amusing slice of life.

Spice and Wolf: Economics meets a medievil folk lore-ish.

Gundam 00: Code Geass only without some of the more complete ridiculousness.

Spice and Wolf needs more lovin', it's really really good.

"ADV" have announced their future uk releases, and as is expected its rather quite rubbish. 10 releases, all stuff thats 4+ years old, half are complete collections. The fact they want ONE HUNDRED POUNDSs for a new boxset of Evangelion in thinpaks and a flimsy metal tin, just takes the piss. In fact the whole thing is a mockery - the £50-60 boxsets are all being sold by play for £35/45. Why don't they just make them cheaper at rrp?

How is the Evangelion tin box any different from the previous one bar thinpak cases, and why would it cost more? DOES NOT COMPUTE
