I've started on Gundam 00 tonight and I've seen references to Ireland. This is something I've noticed in several shows. Is there some particular reason that Anime references this piddling little island more than I'd certainly have expected?

Geass 03:

;) @ Rollo have ZA WARUDO. This episode reminded me heavily of Death Note. I loved the Kallen and C.C. interaction, and lots of new information to process! Of course I raged at the Suzaku part where he annihilated the EU, who I had high hopes for, but the rest made up for it. I'm quite sad that China won't join Zero, because they have a pretty cool Emissary guy, and their emperor is a loli. I can't wait until Orange-kun comes back though.

Please explain what ZA WARUDO means in this context for us non 4channers.

I'm pretty glad they're not joining with the Chinese though, that white faced guy seriously needs to be killed off.

Ireland gets a fair shout in Gundam 00. They're represented by the manliest person on the good side in the show, Lockon. And his Gundam is a delightful emerald green colour too. ;)

Za Warudo, or "The World" is a move used by Dio in JoJo's bizzare adventures. Namely, he can do what Rollo does:

Stops time within a certain area. Often accompanied by throwing knives at them and DUMPING A STEAMROLLER ON THEM and then shouting "WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY".

And yeah, that white guy was creepy lol.

ahh, I see.

After watching that episode I don't see Rolo getting killed any time soon! Which I thought might happen; that's a pretty awesome/overpowered Geass to have.

Just watched Kaiba - pretty cool, love the Junk Mizuno / Osamu Tezuka style characters.

Re: Rolo's Geass.

I don't think it's an actual time-stop. When he uses it on Viletta and that other guy, the waterfall in the background kept moving. I think it freezes the mind of anyone who's inside his range, so it looks like he stops time to them.

Indeed.

It's more like some sort of Geass bomb.

I dont know where Moosegrinder is hiding but me and him need to have words. Since he gave me those first 20 eps of One Piece a couple of weeks back Ive not been able to stop watching! Just hit episode 110 where Luffy and co are crossing the desert, sheer genius. Packed full of comedy moments and never dull. Sadly there seems to be only 240 eps available on the torrent list I have ;) I hope they get the rest subtitled soon!

You're about to hit one of my fav fights ;-) The Arblasta arc is excellent.

IIRC [gera-sama] subbed after the [K-F]s finished, then you can just grab the [vegapunk] subs (and their lovely HD rips!).

;) It really is amaze. I loved it when I was about that stage as well, being able to marathon One Piece is far more satisfying than watching it weekly. Still, it's pretty good at the moment!

(p.s. Ryan made a typo, it's "geru-sama")

Oh man, yeah. Marathoning One Piece way back still ranks as one of the highlights of my anime viewing thus far. Especially the Arabasta arc, everything just seemed to come together for an amazing set of episodes and for a long time it was my favourite arc. It's probably now been topped by the Water 7/Enies Lobby stuff. I sttill have fond memories of those days spent watching whole batches of episodes ;)

Me too! I remember it was back when we first got broadband internet a few years back and we had a pathetic monthly download limit. I was in agony waiting about half a month to resume watching - I think from about the start of the grand line. I remember forcing my parents to upgrade to unlimited so I could download the rest ASAP! I even payed the difference until the prices went down! (luckily only a couple of months later).

The culmination of the Arabasta arc was just superb, I was just stunned watching that final fight, and Zoro's fight against

Mr 1

is probably still my favourite fight of his. There are just so many cool moments like Sanji

posing as Mr Prince and the ending where all the Strawhats show their X tattoos.

super-wub.gif!

EDIT: I just remembered, after watching One Piece all the way through, once I got to the end of where K-F were subbing... I watched it again. God bless gap years/summer holidays. That makes me chuckle. ;)

Is the Arabasta a movie just a crunch retelling of the tv/manga arc, or is it done differently?

The top ten anime tv series in Japan for the week of April 7th - April 13th, 2008 are as follows:

1. Sazae-san

2. Chibi Maruko-chan

3. Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo Washi to Ore? Asakusa Shounen Tanteidan

4. Gegege no Kitaro

5. Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!

6. Blue Dragon: Tenkai no Shichi Ryuu

7. Major

8. Keroro Gunsou

9. Oha Coliseum

10. Bleach, Gintama, Shugo Chara!, ATASHIn'CHI (four way tie with 4.2 rating)

Pretty much, I haven't seen it but it supposedly has new animation and music, but excludes a few things too. Probably mostly filler episodes, but also some stuff regarding Mssrs. 2 & 3. I know the latest film about the Drum arc has been re-written to include Franky and Nico Robin and exclude Vivi, but I don't think anything like that happened in the Arabasta film.

:) I'd almost forgotten about that bit at the end of the Arabasta arc. That was pretty damn emotional and the weird thing was I didn't really like Vivi that much at the start but by the end... such a nice gesture... it was just so emotional... :( I feel like a bit of a pansy

Heh, I was the same. I was even sort of glad that Vivi

didn't join the crew

, but it still got to me! And then I welled up a bit again when

Robin finally asked for help at Enies Lobby. Well, when I read the manga...

In a bizarre twist, it's already week three and I'm behind 1 episode on 13 series. Yaaaaaay. :)

sounds about right...

Luffy putting his hat on Nami is just as good as the fucking awesome poses of everyone posing on the bridge of hesitation.

except the

Death of Merry I didn't actually find as touching as the other two incidents. I think I was too excited by the prospect of a new ship which had been a long time coming.

Anyway... time for Kyouran 2...

Dead inside etc. :) Deciding to re-read One Piece was probably my downfall. Started on Sunday and all the groups started releasing then. Ah well, only 40 or so chapters left.

The webpage isn't up yet, but the NFT are doing an anime season in June and will be showing the following films:

Paprika

5 Centimetres Per Second

Death Note 1

Death Note 2 (the ICA is also showing both films, but the NFT gets Death Note 2 a month earlier and has a combo ticket for £12.50)

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Appleseed: Ex Machina

Vexille

EDIT: forgot Tekkon Kinkreet.

It's not so much a season as an anime weekend, so there's a lot to fit in if you want to see everything, Paprika and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time being must-sees imo.

Fuck yes! Amazing news, cheers. I'll definitely be seeing those three. And maybe 5cm, what's the general consensus on that, btw?
