I just watched Geass R2 and so went back a page or two to read all the spoiler'ed discussion, much 'lol' at the Suzaku hate. I found it quite amusing how

Lelouch seemed to petulantly insist that short-term tactics couldn't defeat long-term strategy as he watched his forces get annihilated. If his first escapade taught him anything it should've been the power of an indomitably strong piece (Lancelot) utilising short term tactics. Also I wonder how it's going to go now that he's gotten himself involved with the Chinese Federation, I mean, he destroyed that other uprising for being tainted with Chinese influence...

I have subbed M.F. sitting in my "Azureus Downloads" folder. Will watch any minute now.

Agh! The suspense is killing me!

So, I feel like nothing from the new season has really grabbed me yet; excepting maybe Code Geass. But I mean nothing has me refreshing toshokan the way the spring line up did last year. Anyone care to prove my indifference callous and tell me what's all sorts of amaze? I guess it's still a bit too early to tell.

Looking forward to Geass today though.

There's nothing zomg-amaze like gurren was but then if you really look at last years list there wasn't anything like that either. :( (Edit; Well, perhaps Seirei, sola and Heroic Age but still!)

In terms of quality, you're pretty much watching all of it (assuming you've tried 20 Faces as well) although Library Wars and Kaiba have still to subbed.

Geass for lol mecha, Macross for more mecha with annoying Sheryl, Kurenai for interesting, Soul Eater for shonen and Kyouran for wtf-ness. Everything beyond that is pretty standard stuff with Himitsu and Blassreiter both being the garbage of the season. Oh and there's Real Drive still to try which might possibly be good but I'm still waiting for the hd subs for that.

Also, limited edition evangleion movie is out on the 25th with the regular version being released on the 21st of May. Subs soon maybe?

(2 edits on this fucking post so far. Think I can make any more? :D)

I believe in you!

I forgot about 20 faces actually, it had a pretty good first episode. I didn't really like the art style in the promo pictures but it actually looks really nice. I'm pretty much a sucker for 'period' anime, so I like it. I think it's one of the most promising of the new bunch at any rate!

I reckon Nabari no Ou should be getting some love though, I think that and 20 faces are my current pick of the crop. Looking forward to library wars and Kaiba though.

Watching Nabari reminded me I hadn't finished watching Shigofumi though; so I finally got rount o that a couple of days ago. That was a pretty decent series, the overarching plot wasn't all that great, I think I like the concept more than I did the show in execution. Wise choice to keep it a short series though! I'm downloading Ghost Hunt since I'm on a bit of a J.C. Staff kick. Maybe I should finally get around to watching Karin...

EDIT: I forgot I'm yet to watch Amatsuki... or start Clannad >_>

Nabari I sort of like and sort of don't. Naruto's kind of made me a bit myeh with ninjas and the I'm-a-guy-or-maybe-I'm-not lead of Nabari freaks me out especially as it's done by teh Rie. Might be ok if they don't make it any more gayer.

Shigofumi started off well with the starter episodes being really topical and vicious almost but I think it faltered towards the end with the execution of the main story. Ghost Hunt(I assume you mean the detective one and not the more recent Ghost Hound series whch is different) is reasonable. The mystery aspect of it works quite well I think.

Amatsuki is hrm. Not a spectacular start but it could have promise. Apparently it's only 13 eps though so it depends how much they accomplish. Clannad, well, it's really good key stuff for the first half but then sort of dribbles out for the latter section in a similar way-ish to Kanon.

Edit: Also, I'm a heartless bastard seemingly. I watched about an hour of Grave of the Fireflies before turning it off in boredom. Ho hum.

Wow, that is pretty heartless. As for Nabari, I think I'm just quite taken by the fighting animations so far. And the background art. ;) Cheers for the Clannad warning though; I'll try and not expect too much...

You're completely right about Shigofumi, the bullying episode was particularly good I thought. But yeah, I am downloading Ghost Hunt, since I thought I'd like to see some non-shoujo JC Staff stuff.

That reminds me, has Ghost Hound been completely subbed yet? Last I checked I have a few episodes subbed by Ureshii.

Oh, and you forgot to mention Wagaya no Oinari-sama from the 'worst of' list; I downloaded the first episode on a whim and deleted it after about 6 minutes. I checked on wikipedia and lo and behold; it's by Zexcs, who did the abominable H2O!

For me, Kurenai, Macross F and Geass R2 are the shows I most look forward to each week. Or as you put it, continuously refresh tokyotosho for the latest episodes. I've also come close to dropping Kanokon and Special A (they really got on my nerves with their second episodes) which in my case would mean I'd still probably watch them to the end but just a few months/years down the line instead. I didn't think Wagaya No Oinari-sama was as bad as to delete it after 6 minutes mind you but I guess I'll reserve further comment until I've seen episode 2.

I'm also expecting good things of Real Drive (plump fanservice!), Kaiba and Toshokan Sensou. And I still need to check out a few shows such as Nabari, Amatsuki and Vampire Knight. It's been pretty good overall, maybe not as good as I had thought.

Shinsen(grgh) have done all but the last episode, no clue about Ureshii but I've been sing Genjo's subs since their hd files make it look amazing. Shame they're only at episode 15...

As for Wagaya, I sort of like it so shush. ;)

Edit: With regards to Zapp's picks, I agree about Special A and I'm giving it one last ep to amaze me before it gets dropped. Kanokon just amuses me in the same way R+V did in the winter. Especially with the events at the end of ep 3. :(

Totally forgot about Kurenai, I'll have to give that a shot. And Vampire Knight, I've had that idling on my hard drive for a while now.

Maybe I was a tad harsh on Wagaya, but when I was watching it I had this feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was wrong, after 6 minutes, I had to check. Zexcs. I panicked and deleted. ;) My time is precious these days!

I'm also waiting on episode 3 for Special A. So far it hasn't actually made me laugh yet, but it's not awful, so I haven't taken action.

Clannad is good, but not worth the time it takes to watch it (in my opinion, that is). It started allright, but after episode 15 or so it got steadily worse for me.

Is Vampire Knight any good? Also, where is Kurenai episode 3? ;)

Is Vampire Knight any good?

It's very shoujo-y. Lots of ridiculously pretty guys that do lots of posing with a heroine that will no doubt end up in a love triangle with the 2 male leads. I wouldn't mind but I have a feeling the vampire aspect will make it more cheesy/angsty than it should be.

That's fair enough regarding Wagaya. I don't imagine it'll amount to anything more than an average show, although I'm secretly hoping it'll be as good as I found Spice and Wolf to be.

I forgot a show as well. I'm enjoying Itazura Na Kiss, despite having already seen a taiwanese drama adaptation of the same manga. It's very old school Shoujo though so it's something of an acquired taste that I don't imagine many around here will enjoy.

New Geass was good!

I'd love it if they made a spin off Fumoffu! style series set between the two series though... Or KyoAni could always do another season of Fumoffu!

Speaking of KyoAni, I watched the first few episodes of Clannad, I'm enjoying it. I love the animation; so silky smooth.

And surprisingly I got most of that episode whilst raw watching. There were bits of the dialogue that just completely passed me by such as the whole name thing and some of the other cryptic things Popo says. But yeah the majority of it tallied up with what I thought was the meaning of certain things.
